What I meant is that the phrase itself is not true, for example, a war is a bad thing but sometimes it is an obligation

In this case, it's misplaced

Wrong thing - to kill Greene - done for the right reasons - what? putting a man to death is right?? - is still the wrong thing.

Phoebe would have to say: it is wrong to kill a man, even if guilty, even though justice has failed

Morality Bites is the first timeline, the one in which Prue's grief pushes the sisters away from magic and Prue is alive because Prue and Piper aren't witches anymore and Phoebe is alone with her growing powers
It 'a sad, lonely reality, Piper alone in the Manor with her little girl is the emblem


The Elders need their Charmed Ones active and fighters, this is the reason they want that the sisters knew this future and they'll have it, even if it'll cost Prue's life

I love Morality Bites, sneak a peak to the future is fascinating, it was interesting to find that the sisters’s powers would have increased, to see Melinda, to discover a society frightened by the truth about the supernatural world
It was interesting to see Prue and Piper 10 years later, to find out Prue’s changes
Prue always liked to work, it is one of the first things we know about her: in ten years it seems that the work has become the most important part of her life, more than love and affection
Maybe Prue didn't go beyond Andy's death, she failed to move forward emotionally and closed in herself, hunging up on work and success

Witch Trial
Phoebe: What are you saying, Prue? Look, if we don’t get to him, we stop being witches.
Prue: Exactly. Which means we stop risking our lives all the time. Which means we stop watching the people we love lose theirs.

This would also affect Piper and Phoebe: Piper‘ld distance from the magic - this may explaine the failure of her marriage with Leo-Phoebe’ld be often alone to live her role as witch, without fully share with the sisters the problems caused by her empathy

I cannot, and I don’t want, believe it’ld be a correlation between the incident of the dog and the murder,it would be ridiculous even in a story for preschoolers
Different traditions maybe, here in Lugano Nathaniel’ld pay a penality of 600 Francs, it’s a serious thing soiling the road, the sisters with their simple joke would have avoided a charge to Nathaniel

I believe that Morality Bites tell of the original future, a future provoked by an estrangement between the sisters, a difficult relationship with the magic and above all Prue’s emotional closure

With this reading, Morality Bites is my favorite episode of the second season

I no longer know how I feel about the death penalty as I have waffled on that subject to many times. I think with respects to premeditated murder, life in prison should be just that. Period!

I found this episode one of the most thought provoking and your mention of (a lesson learned), is what brought me here. That to me is an area that the girls did very poorly in. Piper, for as much as I loved her made the big mess early on. With her mother being involved with a white-lighter and the future it created, she should have known better. Also, it takes two to tango. Leo I feel needs to share half of the blame. He knew better long be for she did. If his passion for Piper was his hearts desire than his wings should have been clipped way in advance of any marriage decisions. In short, pick a spot and stand on it. After all, another white-lighter could have been assigned to the girls. In fact, considering who they were perhaps each should have had one and I would suggest females. 

With children coming along they just compounded the problem. Bind the little darlings powers with or without the extra boost of white-lighter abilities from birth. There should have been no question about this.

The girls were witches who often demonstrated little wisdom. Even with light into the future, they seems to be blind.

The Prue/Piper/Phoebe scene where they let her burn is the best. Truly why the earlier seasons death had such a bigger impact and felt better, than the later seasons where death is a joke and its like another day at the office.

Its interesting to think had the show continued with Prue and no Paige, if the show could of ended with the timeline reaching this future, and what changes happen.

I always thought the final episode would end with Morality Bites revisited for the final episode back when this episode first aired.

I like you line of thinking and until Granny Charmed brought this up,  I always just figured this was in the hands of the Elders and was their way of teaching. Blah .... with their lack of educational skills it wouldn't surprise me if they handed the keys of a Jaguar to a 10 year old. 

Having the girls see into the future to gain knowledge is clever, but if I was allowed to be at the controls I would hope I went about it differently. A possible avenue of approach would be for the dream weaver person, (I forgot who that was), to be enlisted by Grams or Patty to bring this about. Note: Considering how they often were slow on the up take to practice what was taught .... repeat the class. 

As for using this as a guide for future episodes .... brilliant! If Shannen had not departed they could have run with some amazing stories moving forward. The show might not have lasted until 2009, but they could have put us on a fast tract to that point.

I have a theory regarding Prue, I think in this timeline she never got over the loss of Andy. If we look at Prue between seasons 2-3, she never really found another love, no stable boyfriend. I believe in this timeline she just gave up. Focused on her career, figured she'd let the Halliwell line continue through Piper and Phoebe. Maybe thought that after losing her soulmate there was no one else for her.
And seeing as how she was the president of Bucklands, and had opened offices in several other countries, she probably spent most of her time in those countries setting up other offices, whilst Piper was focusing on her marriage and children, Phoebe took justice into her own hands.
I think in this timeline the sisters grew apart, there bond weakened. Each sister focusing on a different path. Then when Phoebe was arrested that probably bought Prue and Piper back together in an effort to save their sister.

I have never entertained this line of thinking before. Gotta tell ya, it spoke to me. I do believe Andy was the love of her life. Yes, I could agree with others that there were men that we could see her being with .... but in her heart would they be second best? I remember Ted Kennedy speaking at his brother Bobby's funeral service and he said ... "Do not glorify my brother in death." Well trust me, that is easier said than done.

Everything you stated above is ringing bells for me. For all the closeness the three of them shared they were very disjointed at this point. I am not so sure I questioned any of this at the time, but I am now. They all appeared to be removed from the personal aspics of each others lives. They were I think Charmed in name only. Good catch.

Loneliness plus stronger powers is a dangerous cocktail, see Cole who chooses to be the Source without talking to the sisters, see Wyatt, teenager without the loving protection of mother and aunts, see Richard, intoxicated by his family powers, which he had always refused

So, why did Cole choose to take the Source's powers?

I like Morality Bites, as well. It was a great second episode, to kick off S2.
