Which Victor Bennett was the better character?
The Victor we knew in the first season episode "Thank You For Not Morphing" or The Victor that became a regular in Season 3-8?

Season 1 Victor was a demonic illusion. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Season 3 Victor! I loved that in season 3 they started to slowly heal the relationship. It was one thing later Charmed did quite right. I believed that the producers figured that season 1 Victor would have been better as a love interest for Prue. That makes sense given that their chemistry was kind of creepy. I always could see her dating an older man like that at least briefly had she lived. Just to clarify I do NOT mean date her dad but a new role for the actor. His name was Anthony Dennison, correct?

Season 3 Victor onwards.
Loved James Read as him.
He's my Victor definitely.

I found the first Victor very slimy and creepy. The second was was kind of the opposite, all bumbly and unoffensive. I prefer the second one.

I honestly don't think you can fairly compare the two, IMO. The Season One Victor was only in that one episode, while the Season Three and beyond Victor was in many.
James Read had a lot more time and episodes to establish the character than Tony Dennison did.

James Read's Victor, for sure. Although, Anthony Denison's Victor kind of made you understand why Grams disliked him. Read's Victor was very nice and fatherly, so it seemed odd that he would abandon his kids.

Denison's version was too Eric Bischoff-esque to really work.

I'm just feel it's unfair to compare an actor's performance of a character when they only had one episode playing said character, in comparison to another actor who had many episodes playing the same character.
I feel the same way when people compare Lori Rom to Alyssa Milano. Lori had one episode (that most would never even see until years later) while Alyssa had eight seasons. Hardly a fair comparison, IMO.

Sometimes it takes time toexpress an opinion, other times an actor can be appreciated right away I didn't like the first Victor, he was too young, too dishy, a little deceitful,I thought he was a man you cannot trust I liked the other Victor immediately, he looked the right dad, not too young or too elegant
It's a matter of feeling

Typical Es, I'm an exception to most rules.
Although I liked James Read's Victor better as a father and a grandfather, I liked Tony Dennison's better as the Charmed Ones' father, but as usual, that's more due to the way they were written than the actual actors (looks very seldom mean anything to me, outside of the hotness of Antonio Sabato Jr!) Read's Victor was almost *too* nice, *too* kind. I can't see him not making contact with his daughters during all of that time or even thinking that a whitelighter stole her away (during the wedding that whole bit seemed WAY out of character), while Dennison's I can see doing all of that. I would've preferred Dennison's version being the one we saw in S3. Since I count S4-8 as an alternate universe spin-off, Read's Victor would make plenty of sense.

You are probably right, an obnoxious and vain father would be more adequate but difficult to forgive and let go again in their lives Grandfather Victor in season eight is really a great grandfather, in Kill Billie there is a beautiful scene between him and the little Chris, I am glad they changed actor

I prefer the second one. And just because the second Victor was really, really kind and supportive of his daughters doesn't mean that when he was young he couldn't have taken off: if he was in his late twenties, early thirties, even younger, it's perfectly possible that he was overwhelmed by the idea of being married to a witch, and raising little witches, and taken off out of fear and feelings of inadequacy (plus, I'm sure Penny scared him quite a bit, and was a big part of the reason why he left- in-laws always are). People do change. Plus, when he returned, Prue and her sisters were adults, perfectly capable of protecting themselves, so he may not have felt as overwhelmed and scared of magic.

I definitely think the second incarnation of Victor would be scared enough to do what he did. Honestly, I think we forget how scary seeing magic and demons etc would be for a mortal. Heck, I honestly wonder how I would react. I mean it's also not like Victor abruptly left it was said that he came in out. I think he tried.

Plus Patty had an affair with her Whitelighter to another reason to leave when Victor felt betrayed at what happened.

Heck, I honestly wonder how I would react. I mean it's also not like Victor abruptly left it was said that he came in out. I think he tried. We saw Victor and Grams arguing about the constant demon attacks, which ended in him walking out for good. It was in a flashback from "Sympathy for the Demon", manifested out of Piper's fear that she will never be happy. So we know what happened there. The demon attacks plus Grams' insistence that he'll never be able to protect them. It wore on him, and for good reason. I'm just feel it's unfair to compare an actor's performance of a character when they only had one episode playing said character, in comparison to another actor who had many episodes playing the same character. Hardly a fair comparison, IMO. I understand your point, but again, that's why I'm talking about comparing first episode to first episode. James Read's debut in "We All Scream for Ice Cream" established a caring father right off the bat, whereas in Denison's episode as Victor he always seemed to have something shady about him and not in an "interesting character we'd like to see supporting his daughters through the long haul" way.

So, old me would've picked James Read, but I'm actually going to say Tony Denison's version.
Merely because James Read's version seems so clueless about magic, whereas Tony Denison's version seems more aware about it and actually willing to work with "evil" (in this case, the shapeshifters). And, I think it'd be interesting to see him do it, again, in other episodes.
