When Patty and Penny both died Piper and Prue got the same powers as they did. While Phoebe recieved premonitions, did Prue and Piper get these powers from their mother and grandmother?

Each sister and every Warren descendant has the potential to inherit telekinesis, freezing, and premonitions from their ancestor Melinda Warren.
They do inherit it but not like you think. Telekinesis didn't leave Grams and pass onto Prue like hand-me-down clothes from one sibling to another. They inherit magic like we inherit hair color and eye color from out parents.
I've just realized Phoebe was the only Warren to have premonitions besides Melinda Warren herself.

That isn't how it works I don't think. Melinda Warren, their original ancestor, learned three powers, the powers of telekinesis, freezing and premonition, these powers as we see in Astral Monkey, are in a witches blood, meaning that magical powers in Charmed are genetic, therefore each witch born after Melinda has the chance to gain any of these abilities, I believe her own daughter Prudence had telekinesis and premonition. It just so happened that when The Charmed Ones were first prophecized, I suppose fate intervened and thought it would make sense if each sister had one of the powers each to learn and grow.
Having whitelighters reproduce with witches skewed this up a bit, as we see Paige's Warren power is telekinesis albeit with a twist thanks to her whitelighter parentage.

I've just realized Phoebe was the only Warren to have premonitions besides Melinda Warren herself. I think Melinda's daughter, Prue, had premonitions (along with telekinesis) in the Charmed books. Of course the Charmed novels aren't canon, but in "Whispers of the Past" (one of my favorites), it's was Melinda's daughter Prudence's daughter Cassandra Warren Wentworth who had premonitions. Not canon, but definitely fanon. And that's my point. We don't know what powers all of the Warren witches had (Phoebe was the only *Halliwell witch* (since that only includes Patty and the Charmed Ones, since Penny was a Johnson witch) who had premonitions), so even if you don't count Cassandra, to say that Phoebe was the only one is possible, but highly improbable. But who knows? Maybe it was the fact that Phoebe had Melinda's almost-lost power that showed that they were indeed the Charmed Ones. Although I *do* think that's giving the writers way too much credit. |
