The writers probably forgot. By the end she never gained her leveitation power back. Her premonition were given back in seven and used to find a baby daddy

It’s just crappy writing and a lack of creativity.. Writers gave Phoebe a new power in season 6 and still couldn’t figure out a way to keep her existing ones in he show. I can rewatch season 8 anytime and be like, “THERE. A premonition could have been useful there...”

Them devolving into something to be used to find the man who would provide the sperm for Ladybug totally disgusted me. The same way true for Piper's freezing power. I *really* missed that, too.

I did miss freezing when Piper quit using regularly in season 5.
Besides innocents, the power was also helpful for revealing demons or providing information that would give Phoebe an advantage during an attack or piecing together a mystery.
I think more writers were aware of this. I always found it odd how Connie Burge's episodes were the few episodes early only when Phoebe did not have a premonition (Dream Sorcerer, Secrets and Guys, The Painted World, Ms. Hellfire). I always appreciate Krista Vernoff: in each episode she wrote, she managed to write a premonition and/or levitation into the episode (except 6.21, which she couldn't.)

I guess it also depends on the story too, I can see how an episode like The Painted World didn't need it . We had no innocents in most of the above episodes and Secrets and Guys the innocent used the spirit board to contact them. But interesting observation about those early episodes. I never noticed that. Great job! I'd totally love a list and see exactly how many times it was used in the series. But I loved Premonitions and felt they were very important. While later on all they needed was Piper's exploding power and Paige's orbing and that was about it.

I had actually started a power count spreadsheet when I was young fan of Charmed watch the original show in high school. No clue where it is now. Probably on some floppy disc? LOL. But Phoebe did have like 35 premonitions in the first season, seasons 2-4 had around 10-15 premonitions, before they phased it out completely.
In The Painted World, couldn't she have seen Prue getting stuck in the painting? Or the incantation she forgot when smart spell wore off? I always thought she would have received a premonition of the spirit board of Prue in danger... My pet peeve was when should would actually try to get a premonition and couldn't.... even in Season 8.
On the levitation note, later episodes made it seem as though she developed some sort of super strength from levitation and she was using the power during martial arts when she was not necessarily floating in the air. Same with premonitions, they started talking about heightened intuition like sensing where energy balls were coming from in the later seasons...
Piper and Paige's powers were used in very cliched, routine ways too. There was just really no creative thought put into power use.

I'm not surprised by that. It was used more in S1 and slowly less and less. I think in S8, the budget decrease meant all their powers were used less and why they might have had Phoebe or her sisters not get any new powers or advances later on. Of course I like the original three powera better once you add more powers the original ones start to get used less and Piper's exploding power just meant they stopped making the power of three important. Yeah they really were.

Phoebe pretty much lost herself by S8. She was so gung ho on love that she truly lacked a sense of the future and anything that made her, her own person.

Because Alyssa had pretty much given up by S8, consistently phoning in her performances. She probably just didn't wanna do it anymore.
