Both sisters didn't know their mother, but who did you show more sympathy towards? Paige or Phoebe

Hmm, not sure. I mean, Paige had no interaction with Patty after her birth as she was given up almost immediately. But then again, she was given a wonderful upbringing by her adoptive parents. So, in some respects, she came off much better than her sisters because she never felt the same loss that they did (both of Patty and Victor).
Although, Phoebe seemed to have basically no memory of Patty in S1, and yet was still deeply affected by her death. To me that is because she would've known Patty in those early, informative years (age 1-3) and so still developed a bond even though she can't really consciously remember it.
If anything, I feel more sorry for Prue as she would've developed the closest bond with Patty, being 7 or 8 when she died, although I feel sorry for all four of them ultimately.

No, I think it's more that Phoebe was still with her grandmother and sisters who *did* remember Patty and talked about her - Paige never heard anything about Patty - she just knew she was adopted, not by who or what her mother was like. I just wish Paige had never called Patty Mom, especially when she first met her - it showed that she wasn't really that close to her adopted mother (who's the one she should've always called Mom) and that makes me sad for her. Had Paige met Patty when she was still young, that would've been different. But once she was an adult, she should've always just called Patty "Patty" or at the very most "Mother" because although Patty gave birth to her and was her blood mother, she was never really her mom. Paige told Grams that she couldn't call her that because she had two grandmothers of her own. The same should've been true with Patty and Sam, her mother and her father, but not her mom and her dad - especially once her mom and dad died in the car crash.

Paige called Patty "mom" because of in emotion of the moment, it is not common thing to see appear a deceased and unknown mother
Phoebe has never had memories of her mother, then the void of a growth without parents led to the rebellion against Penny, the only parental figure to whom rebel and partly against Prue, seen as an oppressive big sister In addition, for a long time Phoebe'll fear of being abandoned,of being loved by no one
In Piper, the void left by her mother instead explodes during her pregnancy, when Piper empathizes with her son and fears a possible motherless growth
When Piper gets married, Prue perhaps realized how much of her life was conditioned by her having to be the big sister, the judicious vice-mom who has to take care of the yougers and rebels in the same provocative way of Phoebe'
The struggle of a growth without parents is one of the recurring themes of Charmed,it affects many of the behaviors of the sisters

Paige called Patty "mom" because of in emotion of the moment, it is not common thing to see appear a deceased and unknown mother Maybe, but she calls her that the rest of the series - extremely insulting to her real mom who also happens to be dead. And for her to call her mom at that time means that's what she's always thought of Patty, someone she's never met and probably never heard of since it was all new to her when Sister Agatha told her. Again, extremely insulting to her real mom.
