This has been discussed ad nauseum, but I saw this at a different site and simply had to share because I agree with it so much. It started with this one: SUBJECT: Paige was the strongest Charmed One
Her power was the only one able to kill her sisters. All she had to do was say "Heart," and they would die. Piper couldn't use her powers on her sisters and Phoebe's power was Levitation, Empathy, and Premonitions, not exactly lethal weapons.  But this response is the one I really like. You're right but not quite why you think...
Prue was magically the most powerful witch. Her powers alone weren't that amazing but her magic itself was the strongest as she was the eldest of the most powerful generation of witches to date. Likewise, without magic or powers, she was the deadliest fighter.
Piper's powers were the strongest of the 4 sister. Her freezing power couldn't stop witches but her combustion power could (as seen with both Billie & Christy). While her powers could vanquish most demons, it was still hit-or-miss with upper-level demons. BUT, regardless, they'd still cause major harm to any (even the likes of the Source and the Triad).
Phoebe's powers made her the most formidable against any foe. Her premonition power let her know of any major danger while her empathy let her tap into the powers of anything with any type of emotion. Her levitation was just an added bonus. BUT, she made her sister immune to her greatest power so....she's out of the running.
Paige, however, is the most powerful because she's the most well-rounded AND more than just a witch. She had the magic of a Charmed Ones, fighting skill that could match the likes of Phoebe but came with many, many more powers than all of them combined. As a whitelighter, Paige had access to powers that were suppose to be reserved for pacifists who were pushed to brink BUT she could use those powers as she pleased. Whitelighters are amongst the most powerful beings in the show but can't use their powers as stopping demons is a witch's destiny. Paige, however, is a living, breathing loophole in that she's a whitelighter who is also a witch.
Don't get me wrong. I find it annoying that Paige is the most powerful purely by being a whitelighter. But...well, themz the breaks. Of course, the only thing I disagree with this is that Paige is *not* a witch - she had no witchly powers, only whitelighter ones - even her summoning powe wasn't a witchly power; it was a form of a whitelighter one. She was a living whitelighter who could cast spells and make potions. |

Oh. For a second I thought the question was about which Charmed One was the strongest emotionally, psychologically... My bad. Anyway, I kind of agree with that poster about Paige being the most powerful and most rounded one.

Oh. For a second I thought the question was about which Charmed One was the strongest emotionally, psychologically... My bad. Anyway, I kind of agree with that poster about Paige being the most powerful and most rounded one. That's what I liked about the post, showing how among the first three, the others were actually each the strongest in a different way - Prue magically, Piper power-wise and Phoebe the most formidable, but Paige ended up being the Mary Sue who upsetted the balance by having too many powers just because her father was a whitelighter. |

Wait, are we talking about who would win in a fight against each other? The way they said that Phoebe made her sisters immune from her empathy makes it seem like this is pitting them against each other, I thought we were talking about them going against evil.
If it's them going against evil then Phoebe is the strongest, she can channel any power she wants, good or bad, she literally has access to every single power she can think of, including all of her sisters'.
But if all four sisters attacked each other? I'm inclined to say Prue. Considering she can just astral project into someone's body and make them explode from the inside out. I'd actually say Piper is the weakest power wise, she can't freeze them and her explosions are easily deflected by Phoebe or Prue, or orbed away from by Paige.
Now having said all that, all Paige would have to do is yell "sisters!, Volcano!" and she'd win. So I'd say it's pretty even between her and Prue. If they weren't immune to Phoebe's empathy then she'd win imo.

Paige is conceivably the most powerful sister thanks to her orbing abilities. The most crucial element to that strategy is her having the common sense and creativity to realise how dangerous teleportation is. Seriously, could you imagine how many catastrophes could have been averted if Paige, and Leo for that matter, teleported every enemy who they came across into the Sun? We'd be having some nicely charred Billie and Christie.
Factoring out the potentialities of ridiculous orbing shenanigans though, I'm thinking Prue would be the strongest. Her telekinesis can be used on the others and her hand-to-hand skills are on-par with Phoebe's, maybe better. Although it's granted that Phoebe has what it takes to negate the telekinesis part with her empath power, but not the Astral Projection. Piper is the worst off here because she's the least experienced in hand-to-hand combat. Her explosion power might only injure the others like it did Christie and if it comes down to her and Phoebe somehow then she's defenceless since her power can be used against her.

I don't understand the respondent's point about Phoebe being the most formidable but Prue being the strongest magically. Surely, Phoebe is the strongest, and therefore the most formidable, simply because she can channel any power she likes? I also disagree with them that Prue is the deadliest fighter without powers: I would still give that title to Phoebe. She survived two years as a Charmed Ones without active powers (S1-2) and then two years after she lost them (S7-8). She's much more versed in hand-to-hand combat in my eyes. Also, she is much more intuitive and less predictable than Prue (fighting-wise). Thirdly, Phoebe was supposed to be the witch most "into" the craft as well. In S1-2 she was far and away the best spell-caster and potion-maker. This only all changed when she became obsessed with Cole and forgot she was a witch - Prue overtook her in marital arts; Piper overtook her in potion-making; Paige overtook her in active power.
It's hard to pick the true strongest because their powers are so unevenly distributed. Phoebe only wins because of her "think it and it happens" empathy. However, if they only ever had 2 powers each - Prue (TK and AP), Piper (freezing and exploding), Phoebe (premonition and levitation), Paige (TKO and orbing) - it would be much easier. I think in that case, I would give it to Prue or Paige, unless of course Piper's powers DID eventually work on her sisters the way they did on Billie and Christy.

I don't think that Paige'ld be the strongest, while she is saying "heart" Phoebe and Piper can vanquish her and Prue, E.G., throw her out of the attic along with glass and bricks
Also her orbing power gains less originality in the season 8 with the Jenkins who used potions instead of taxis
I vote Phoebe
I am starting to wonder about Paige's power: as whitelighter power, could she use it to kill?

Paige would probably be killed long before she remembered she could orb stuff.
I'd count Phoebe out for the same reason to be honest, but also because Empathy takes a toll.
I know in theory these two could be unstoppable... but they so rarely make use of what they have that I find it hard to accept that they'd win.
I'd say Piper should come in second, because of her explosion power. Not only is it powerful and offensive; she is very experienced using it.
I personally think Prue deserves to be first. She skillfully uses both of her powers and is a very capable fighter on top of that. In my opinion, her abilities are the most well rounded, despite only being in three seasons. She's very skilled with telekinesis, can project and move her astral form around to distract and disorientate, and can more than hold her own with hand to hand combat.
Of course this is all just my opinion.

That line was rubbish. I never bought it. Considering the things whitelighters did in later seasons. Th3 mythology changed once Leo stayed. Had he left as intended. Whitelighters would of been used as they were suppose too. |

Early seasons for me I'd choose Prue with all her powers and then martial arts and stuff.
Later ones Paige due to all her whitelighter powers which were too much anyway I mean Paige could've just orbed and then healed later with all the other stuff like sensing charges, speaking their language and changing into people done via spells and whatnot.

That's why I believe those elders in S7 are ones who were whitelighters and like Leo were made Elders after the Titan massacre (thanks for not warning anyone about that, Chris!) and whose powers went to their head...they're more demonic than the demons! |

Season 5-8 Paige
I know in Season 5 Piper was invincible because of Wyatt, but sill, I think Paige was stronger.
It was really ironic that in Season 5-8 Paige, the youngest and with lesser experience than the other two was so powerful.

I'd say in Season 1-3 Prue Season 4 Piper Season 5-8 Paige I know in Season 5 Piper was invincible because of Wyatt, but sill, I think Paige was stronger. It was really ironic that in Season 5-8 Paige, the youngest and with lesser experience than the other two was so powerful. I think it all depends upon the definition of strength. Who had the strongest power wasn't always the strongest Charmed One. Despite her powers, I never counted Poor, Poor Pitiful Piper (S4-8) as strong, even if she could probably win in most battles between them. Paige would be dead before she'd remember to call for one of her half-sisters' hearts (if she couldn't remember to call for the gun, how could she ever remember to call for hearts?) - she showed her strength through how she reacted to her real parents' death much more than the fact that her powers were strong, and neither of her half-sisters were strong despite what the writers tried to do with their powers. That's why I loved the first set - strong women who happened to be witches and not totally dependent on their men - or at least not until Phoebe met Cole... |

If we go by strength of character as well as magical/physical strength, I would say it actually varies from season to season:
Season 1: Prue is undoubtedly the strongest simply because of the offensive nature of her power. Her natural role as head of the family and her type-A, workaholic personality allow her to hone her power much faster than her sisters and she is quickly confident in her abilities. Her logical brain and leadership qualities also lend themselves best to battling complex foes whereas Piper is more liable to panic and Phoebe is more flighty and irresponsible.
Season 2: Phoebe made a concerted effort to become a well-rounded witch. Even though she had begun to accept the importance of her premonition power, she recognised that she was in a more vulnerable position than her sisters and sought to become the most well-versed of the trio in spell-casting and potion-making to compensate. And of course she stepped up her martial arts training and clearly persuaded/influenced Prue to do the same. She also matured the most and was the most respectful of the responsibility that comes with practicing witchcraft, most notable in 'Morality Bites', 'Awakened', 'Pardon My Past' and 'Apocalypse, Not'.
Season 3: Prue again, I'd say. As Phoebe becomes enmeshed in her doomed romance with Cole and Piper is still distracted by her relationship drama with Leo, Prue seems to be the only sister interested in saving Innocents and protecting the family from Belthazor and the Triad. Her powers advance far quicker than her sisters again, most notably in their versatility (i.e. telekinetic jumps, astral projection training).
Season 4: I think I would hand this season to Piper probably because the mantle of responsibility fell on her shoulders when Prue died. Although she didn't want to be a witch anymore, she took on Prue's leadership role nonetheless. Also, she now had a very offensive power to her advantage. Also, by comparison, Paige was too new to the craft and Phoebe was not only obsessed with Cole, but quite literally turned her back on her family and her duties to be with him.
Season 5-8: Paige easily takes the title during the rest of the show's run. She at least gave a f*ck most of the time, whilst Piper and Phoebe were more concerned about their men or their children (even their non-existent ones). Paige was actively interested in learning the craft in Seasons 5-6 and reaped the rewards when her powers advanced. Also, her emerging role as a Whitelighter meant she was the sister who was most concerned about/spent most time with Innocents.

I understand why some people might say Prue was the strongest but overall I would have to give it to Paige.
I look at it as who could arguable vanquish a high level demon on their own I the only one I see being able to do that is Paige. The reason I say this is because of her abilities. She has the ability to Cloak herself making her practically invisible to her enemies. They would really even be able to sense her. Not to mention her glamouring ability which would allow her to shape shift into anyone she pleases. Combine those two things and Paige could easily go anywhere and get close to most upper class demons. Then factor in her TKO which in the episode about Limbo, we seen her power grow to the point she was able to orb Pipers should from the dagger and put it back into Piper. Then go into Season 8 when she called for Same when he was trapped in the demons picture she was able to release everyone using her whitelighter TKO ability. From that I would assume she would be able to call for anyone's powers and stripped them of their powers and add them to her collection. I basing that off when Phoebe and Piper tried to switched powers by calling the powers out their body through a spell in which with TKO Paige would really need. Overall she was the most powerful witch of the charmed ones. I mean she has alot of powers that would work towards her advantage if she ever had to go up against a high level demon alone, without the need of a spell.
Like I said though people would think Prue was the strongest because she was the oldest but honestly Paige is the exception to that rule due to her hybrid factor.

But that doesn't make her the strongest Charmed One. If she ever stopped whining, I might start considering her that way, but everything that has gone wrong for her has made her weaker, not stronger. She doesn't learn from it and become stronger; she complains about it and remains Poor, Poor Pitiful Piper. That simply makes me roll my eyes at the weakest Charmed One with the strongest power. What a waste! And getting a power that is the opposite of the current power is *not* an upgrade - it's getting a new power that has nothing to do with the original one, just like Phoebe's levitation and empathy has nothing to do with seeing the future. |
