Also my favorite seasons are 3 and 4 and I think that season 3 is the best written for the multitude of themes and situations which narrates
In my previous post I cited as an example of the link between the sisters Coyote Piper, an episode that I don't love a lot but it's well wirtten and very focused on the love between sisters

It's my favourite Season but to me, Season's 1 and 2 are the best written. Season 3 and 4 takes the focus off the sisters even though I did like Julian McMahon and Kern's Queen story. It ultimately wrecked Phoebe's character and fun Pheebs was gone!. With the sisters now displaced in birth order + The Focus taken off the sisterly bond + Phoebe not being enthusiastic about being a witch anymore and being selfish + a Paige going into Season 5, who hasn't had any character development, in fact character undevelopement - it's a no brainer as to why the rest of the seasons decrease in quality as they go along.

Different points of view: Prue dies and grief change people and roles, I love, in the seasons following the third, the Piper attempt to force her easygoing nature and get a little bit similar to Prue, as well as Phoebe's desire to become an adult, with a job, a love, a family and also Paige, that after painstakingly building her own identity discovers the possiblity of being different It 's funny how we are influenced by our culture: in the Spanish board, nobody has branded as selfish the sisters, they are free, with no obligations to the magic and towards their neighbor and it's a huge generosity and sense of responsibility that leads them to live difficult lives Phoebe cannot be forever a fun teenager enthusiastic of magic, everyone has to grow, and she grows losing a sister, a husband, a child: if she remained the same enthusiastic Phoebe, she'ld be dumb more than generous

It's just like Es said: there's a big difference between which is your favorite season, and which one is better written. I wouldn't say it's mutually exclusive, though. One reason I consider Season 1 to be my favorite season is because it's the best-written season.

Plenty of season 1 love. As we noticed in the pick your favorite writers thread. I compiled a list of all the writers and we saw that the show already lost writers after that first season. So already things were changing.
Connie and Kern truly were a great team in season 1. But the issues between them already started going into season 2.
I felt that first season was perfect as it was written and planned out. But season 2 is great too, just not from a writers point of view.

That was a hard choice but the best written was S1. Following then later there was the problem with continuity.

I just noticed that Season Eight is not included in this poll. Was this accidental or deliberate?

Yeah, Season Eight is hardly a fan favourite.

My favorite seasons are One and Three. But I think Season Three had the most potential.

It's just like Es said: there's a big difference between which is your favorite season, and which one is better written. Exactly so. I think most fans will agree that they did a horrible job making it clear whether Cole was actually possessed by the Source or just influenced by the power of the Source - with him still having power over his body - which makes a huge difference over whether what happened was Cole's fault or not. Had it been just like the way the Source possessed Shane in 'Charmed Again' it would've been totally different. But the writers blew it... And this was just as true regarding how much the Phoetus was affecting Phoebe and whether s/he actually was Cole's and Phoebe's or whether the Seer had put him/her there. Even the bit about if the chocolate affected Wyatt and turned him from Melinda to Wyatt....or if without the Seer's potion, the Phoetus could've been raised good. Even fans of the season have to admit that the writers took what should've been the show's strongest arc and blew it. The same is true for S6 - I'll bet even those who love that season (and, of course, I'm not one of them) can admit that it - especially Chris - was horribly written with more fans liking what COULD'VE/SHOULD'VE been than what actually was. Even I love those possibilities - my favorite fanfic, Kalvana's "Future Consequences" shows how I think Piper, Leo, Phoebe, Paige, Wyatt, Bianca, but ESPECIALLY Chris should've been written during S6 - and had they been, that would be my favorite season. But the writers blew it.

*bumping up* we have the worst written season getting replies lately, figured this one needs more votes from new members and discussion.

Seasons 1 and 3 are my best written.
My Favourites are Season 3 and 4.
For me, Season 3 wins out over Season 1 just because every episode is pretty well written whereas Season 1 does have episodes like The Wedding From Hell, When Bad Warlocks..., Dream Sorcerer and TYFN Morphing which aren't the strongest episodes. But it comes pretty close
For writing: Season 3 - 9.5/10 Season 1 - 9/10 Season 4 - 8/10 Season 2 - 8/10
Season 5 - 5.5/10 Season 6 - 2.5/10 Season 7 - 5.5/10 Season 8 - 3.5/10

Season 4 is my fave season but Phoebe's character degradation, not enough focus on Paige and the weakening of the Source plus Cole not actually being vanquished in LLTQ, after the realness of Prue's death at the beginning... It brings it down to 7. However, I am torn to do the same with Season 2, bring it down a notch to 7.5, as the beginning episodes are not well written, episodes like That Old Black Magic, plus Jenny's starring role and wasted character, the love triangle with Leo and Dan making Piper look like a mess and there really being no overall focus of the Season, with inconsistencies beginning to emerge as well.
