Okay then if you haven't seen this show then where have you been not only is it great but also the longest running CW show on air currently.
Anyway if you haven't then the general gist here is there are two brothers Sam and Dean Winchester who are trained monster hunters whom go after supernatural beings and kill them.
They range from demons to Vampires and Wendigo's to ghosts amongst other things which they've done since a young age subsequent to their mother being murdered by a yellow eyed demon.
Their father John became a hunter afterwards and spent years tracking him down which he did when Sam and Dean were young adults.
Early seasons revolved around the "Monster Of The Week" type storylines and the later ones on overall themes.
Season 4 introduced Angels including someone called Castiel whom I don't need to explain about but if you don't know him just google him you can't miss him really.
So what do people think of this show then? Do you prefer the earlier seasons to the later ones? What's been your favourite storyline/storylines then? What do you think of the way Supernatural's portrayed mythology? And who's your favourite character then or has been?

It's also the last show on the CW that actually predates the network.
Supernatural started its run in the final year of the WB's existence.

I had watched this show with my family in the past. However I lost interest - It started becoming too Angels, God and Lucifer for my taste. This girl much prefers the *Urban Legends* and Special Children.
Im surprised the actors are staying on dears for this long. Do they even want other jobs. No offence dears - I just wonder if they will be able to find any good roles after it ends. Much like how the Seinfeld Cast apart from Julia have found decent roles or Sarah Michelle Gellar having so many failed shows - as im told. But I wish them well and a job is a job in these hard times to support families. So good on them for staying doing what they love.
I know my granddaughter still watches and I still ask her on occasions how this show is doing.
Whats the deal dears with the killing of female characters. My granddaughter pointed out its almost like a running gag.
Okay clearly from what I have said above my favorite seasons were those early ones - so the first 2 or 3 (think I gave up watching dears with my family when Mr X died - forgot his name but I am a big X-Files fan so thats where I remember him most from). Mythology I love the Urban Legends. Characters are John, Bobby, Ellen, Sam and Missouri.

Yeah I agree with what you've said Granny.
There were times I loved the show and times I didn't where I'd pull my hair out and think why and then like you I preferred the earlier seasons 1-5 with the apocalypse storyline but I still love my bro's Crowley and Cass so I still watch the show.
Concerning that as long as it's doing well the main stars will carry on acting in it like the fact Supernatural's been renewed for a twelfth year running.
It's the energiser battery that never stops going.

I love the first five seasons, then the series turned in a boring repetition of the usual pattern It survives due to the chemistry of the two protagonists and the charm of two co protagonists as Castiel and Crowley
Now that they have turned a clumsy writer/prophet in God himself, they touched the bottom of the ridiculous

What happened to the other supernatural thread. The one started in 2006 with pages of discussion. I was meaning to ask if these two could be merged. I guess it got deleted yesterday before i could.
Ashame as i was wanting to look at people's thoughts from the beginning and post in there. Oh well.
As for me. A huge fan of the early seasons.

Dean should consider a career in family counseling if the hunter thing ever dries up.
I mean he got Chuck/God and Amara to make up, the two most powerful beings in the universe. Heck, even Dr. Phil would have been hard pressed to pull that off.
And, as a thank you, Amara has resurrected Mary Winchester. Does Mary remember the 33 years between her death and now. Or will she suddenly find herself in the world of 2016, in which her two sons are now grown men?

Have been watching this show since the beginning and still watching it now, there have been times admittedly where I wondered what on earth Kripke was thinking and what on earth he had planned. For it to still be running 12 seasons in and have further plans for a 13th season is incredible. Loving the 12th season so far. Castiel and Dean hugging scene in the first ep season 12 made me tear up Cas was just so happy to see him (SPOILER ALERT) Mary's return as well!! What on earth are they thinking! Wasn't impressed with how season 11 finished, very anti Climactic for me. Shelfy

I'm loving season 12 at the moment to which I've downloaded the first three episodes of.
The writers say that'll be a throw back to season 1 in that there won't be an overall villian this year but standalone bads of the week which'll be interesting.
I loved the Dean, Cass hugging scene and Mary coming back to although am not a Destiel fan as such though actually.
Wonder how Mary will cope in modern day America.
There will be a standalone Cass episode which will feature flashback sequences telling us more about him before he met Dean that I'm looking forward to then.
Gotta love me Cass and how he's goanna be the same badass person we saw season 4 which he needs to be now after partially getting his mojo back. Can't wait. Yay.

Definitely keen for throw back to season 1. Not really a Destial fan either but it was a good scene. Definitely intrigued as to what they're planning to do with Mary and how she will cope, I did love the scene of her first seeing the Impala and the way she was looking at the backseat...and Dean's look hehe. Can't wait for the Cas episode, they almost have to do one considering how much of an every week character he has become. Some back ground on him would be very nice. Can't wait to see his old bad arse form. Shelfy

Loving season 12 so far.
I hope we get to see Jody and Mary being friends. I get why Mary left, because they cannot put her in every episode. But I hope she doesn't break Dean and Sams heart and dies again or wants Castiel to return her to Heaven.
I always find Supernatural reminds me of how a Charmed spin-off with Wyatt and Chris may have gone like. Makes me think they didn't go through with it, because of Supernatural.

Well, sheriff Jody will be back this year anyway Craig so Mary could meet her if the writers do that actually and I'm sure Mary would thank her for looking out for Sam and Dean to obviously.

Right on Melinda. I sometimes forget Dean will turn 40 if the show reaches season 14. I expect them to make jokes about his age. LOL But I really feel the show is going to end in another 2 to 3 years - What do you think?. However they might just end at 300 episodes if season 14 ends with 13 episodes. My partner says that Supernatural will hold the record for longest running American Sci-Fi/Fantasy series for a very long time. Only because most shows these days don't do 22 episodes anymore. So reaching that many episode will become impossible and says no show may ever go 12 + years.

The show still remains one of my favourites. I didn't like Seasons 6-8 but it picked up with Season 9. I really enjoyed Season 11 and now like that Season 12 is going back to the beginning with the demon of the week. I always preferred the creepier episodes with urban legends and the like.
Granny, I know what you mean about the actors sticking with it and may not have anything to move onto. I think they're happy. They both seem to be focusing on their families and it's not like they'll be strapped for cash once Supernatural is off the air. I've read they're getting paid at least $125,000 per episode and they do so many comic cons around the world--much more than most other TV shows--because they love their fans. I'm still to see one. Maybe next year at the Toronto Comic Con if they're there.
My theory is that it will end with the 300th episode. Season 14 will only be 13 episodes just to round up the storyline. Surely both the characters have to die. Or they're taken right back to the start and it's a huge loop. I just can't see how it could end with both being alive and getting out of the hunting business. That would be a huge disservice to us!
