So yeah, I knew there was a reason I've never touched an issue of "Season 10" and I never will. But I do hope that everyone who enjoys the comics enjoys Season 10 because everyone deserves to feel what they want to feel on the subject. Even if I'm enjoying season 10 overall, there are still things which bother me. I don't think I'll ever be happy with Cole's soul death. The guy already got screwed over in the show and even though I find nothing wrong in dying to save Phoebe's husband and father of her children, I kinda would've preferred it happened in some sort of world end battle? The one Valkyries were preparing for. Not so soon. And as for Ben, I just kinda feel like he's better off in the background and more scenes should've been dedicated to the sisters. But then again, I felt the same way about Leo and Rennek in season 9 too. If placing Ben in Cole's body was because they both sacrificed themselves to save someone and a person like that was one of the ingredients to perform the ritual to bring forth the Old Ones, I think I would've preferred if it had been Victor who got stabbed by the athame while saving one his daughters or grandkids. That would've left a more devastating impact. Though Prue bringing back Ben in Victor's body might be weird to explain to everyone. But atleast Cole would be alive. And finally have a reunion with his Dad. But other than all that, I'm enjoying this season. I like Prue being afraid to embrace death and move on led to consequences like Cole's death and the rise of the Old Ones. The show just stopped treating death or the consequences of anything seriously in the latter season so it's nice to see it addressed here. Other thing I especially like is that while Paul managed to fix things like Wyatt being twice-blessed and all powerful in season 9, Pat fixed that whole Forever Charmed future being set in stone. Obviously with beings who can easily slaughter Angels of Destiny, nothing will be certain. I hope the damage to the bright and shiny future remains permanent seeing as an unknown future is much better than knowing who survives at the end.

I just thought about a possible theory. Is it possible that what's happening to Prue now is similar to what happened to her during Piper's wedding and all of the other times Prue was turned evil or somewhat? Remember when she was Ms. Hellfire, she believed she was protecting her sisters even though she was trying to kill them. Then there's the time when the Book of Shadows was turned evil and she and the sisters were being influenced by the evil Book of Shadows. Prue even said that there was some bit of evil inside of them to be turned. And at Piper's wedding, Prue's astral self took over. Two out of these three times, Prue was influenced or she was taken over.
What if that's what the Grimoire and Heremus' evil side did? Despite her being in Patience's body, in Prue's soul, there was a bit of evil that the Grimoire tapped into, slowly turning her evil. Then Heremus' evil was taken by the Grimoire and turned her even more evil. Then, the anger that she has started to express to Victor, Piper, and Phoebe was what was already inside of her that was never expressed before. But now that Heremus' evil and the Grimoire's influence has take over her, just like her astral self took over her?
Does this make sense?

When I first saw the preview of the issue Effigy with Prue’s thoughts about everyone, I was reminded of this: And this: With what’s happened to Prue since she died and even after death, I’m not surprised her inner desires and resentment have increased tenfold. But like always, she must've suppressed them. Something which even Astral Prue, who is Prue’s inner desires come to life, complained about. With the Grimoire, Prue’s control factor appeared to be weakening as she did things like evicting Patience from her body, putting Ben in Cole's body summoning Kyra and taking her powers for herself. She was even looked like she was ready to hurt Tyler in order to get rid of Heremus who was possessing him. When she finally ends up absorbing Heremus's feelings and powers, her control is completely lost when the Nexus within her sways toward evil. When Prue was crying at the end of issue where she destroys Heremus, I thought they were tears of joy of finally getting rid of the Nexus and becoming human, not to mention not being able hurt her sisters anymore. But it was actually being finally free of control. No more suppressing inner desires and resentment which she used to do all her life. I think that explains why she keeps telling everyone I'm the real Prue. I guess in a way she is the raw, unfiltered Prue. But she is carrying Heremus feelings and the Grimoire within her and unable to distinguish her own desires from an Old One's and an Evil Book. Astral Prue wanted to be free from responsibilities and obligation, but she sure as hell didn't want to destroy the whole world.

This is the REAL Prue. And she was tired of holding all of her anger and resentment in. And in "Just Harried", she said "I get stuck watching my sisters live my dream", it was exactly what was happening when Prue died. I wonder how the story will end with how Prue is now.

And in "Just Harried", she said "I get stuck watching my sisters live my dream", it was exactly what was happening when Prue died. Thank you Forgot to add this also: There's also the whole Ms. Hellfire thing Prue did in season 2. Then Astral Prue in season 3. It's like every season there's an episode dedicated to Prue letting herself loose. With the amount of feelings she keeps bottled up, I'm surprised Prue didn't lose her mind earlier. She's carrying way too much emotional baggage already. Add a whispering Grimoire, a dead Old One's emotions and the Nexus of All, it seemed like Prue never stood a chance It's starting to remind me of Doctor Williamson. Perhaps like humans, there's a limit to how much power a witch can handle? Prue also easily lost it when she gained empathy in Season 3. Had it not been for that priest guiding her, she would've actually died instead of regaining control. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for something less tragic for Prue. Even evil, there's still a teensy part which cares about her sisters. One second she's sneering at Paige how much she doesn't love her. Next second, she contradicts herself when she realizes Henry had hurt Paige and turns him into stone. Though I've wondered if Prue was also unknowingly responsible for Paige and Henry's relationship problems in the first place. Woogy Nexus could affect other humans too. So what if Nexus Prue affected Henry? The day Henry and Paige make-up, happen to be the same day Prue kills and absorbs Heremus which turns her evil, but atleast makes her stop harming her sisters with her magic indirectly. But ofcourse then she starts harming them directly... But whatever happens, I hope Prue survives because Charmed just never felt like Charmed without her. Even at the beginning of season 9, all I wondered was, when is Prue going to show up. So I definitely hope the story goes out with a bang, but Prue doesn't.

This all makes sense, but I still don't like the fact that Pat Shand is totally forgetting that Prue didn't just take in the Grimoire, but also the Empirical Sword, and rather than taking in the Nexus, she *is* the Nexus - the connection between the Underworld and the Upper Regions. Granted the powers of the Old Ones might swing that power to evil - but not if Prue was behind all of the stuff before they came around. She should've still been balanced during that time, so something else had to be happening during all of that, especially the stuff with Tyler.
Yeah, if it doesn't, I'll still want to have my ceremonial burning, because even with all of this, I can't see Prue doing the things she's done unless there's even more behind it. Leave? Go off and do her own thing, leaving her sisters in the lurch like she did during Piper's wedding? Oh, yeah. I can definitely see her doing that - especially if she could take Andy with her.
But all of this evil - especially against those young innocents?
No, not Prue. I refuse to believe that.

I just remembered that Pat Shand had being around Prue hurting her sisters from almost the first issue (please correct me if I'm wrong - I want to re-read those almost as much as I want to re-watch S6 or S8) and that for sure was before the Old Ones or Heremus took her over, so she *would've* been influenced by both the Empyrical Sword and the Grimoire. If according to Shand, she only has the Grimoire within her, this is definitely an alternate universe spin-off as much as S4-8 is to what I count as the real Charmed - S1-3.
So, if after reading Shand's finale, if I find that's still the case with no mention of the Empyrical Sword (which was such a huge part of S9...), I'll definitely have my ceremonial burning.

In season 9, didn't the darklighter need a powerful artifact from both good and evil to gain access to the Nexus? If this is true, then he could've just used some other powerful Elder artifact along with Grimoire and it would've worked. Same goes with using Empyreal Sword and some other powerful evil artifact. Perhaps ancient athame? Though ofcourse activating it was almost fatal to the user so it explains why he decided to use the Grimoire.
As for Empyreal Sword somehow making sure Prue stays good. ..I just can't see that. A few words of a book on my shelf has the power to influence my mind and actions rather than a knife tucked away somewhere in my kitchen. The only special ability it possess is to cut meat and vegetables. Atleast Empyreal Sword can kill demons easily without spells. But that's all. Elders actually had a war over their disagreement over what whitelighter should be and whether they should carry this sword. So it's just a weapon to kill demons. A powerful artifact of good. Not something to make sure someone good stays good.
Grimoire on the other hand, I can definitely imagine slowly corrupting someone. If Book of Shadows can protect itself and appear to have a mind of its own sometimes, a powerful evil Book would be the same. But much better. Since its easy for evil demonic powers or things to affect good, the same isn't true for evil beings.
When Eames the warlock or Source stole whitelighter powers, they weren't affected by goodness or desire to help people.
Phoebe on the other hand went on a demon killing spree and still wanted to kill when she acquired demonic powers in Witch Wars episode of Season 6.

While taking the bus to various places and getting ready for my trip to New Mexico tomorrow and waiting in long lines at our State Fair, I've been re-reading Paul Ruditis' e-books, "The War on Witches" and "Let Gorgons be Gorgons". Thinking what Season Ten *could've/should've* been like and how badly, horribly Pat Shand twisted it very simply hurts...
Cyma, I desperately wish I could find a cheap way to get my S10 comics to you. Can't think of anything that could happen in "The Reason" to make me want to keep them.
Curiosity, since I *so* see it coming. . Cyma and others who are reading the comics, if the ending of "The Reason" shows that we are now at the flashforward with Coop rushing Phoebe to the hospital to have her third child (it's why I think he aged the children so quickly), Piper with her restaurant and her three, and Paige with her three, what would be your reaction to finding out that everything was set up so that is truly the ending of Charmed?

Anyways, if you don’t like the finale, I'll research an affordable way to get season 10 comics from you :-)

Why not absolve Cole's sins? The sins of the Halliwell sisters and Leo have been absolved time and again on the show. Why not absolve the sins of everyone?

There are certain things that I like about S4-8 (Paige, Little Wyatt, Drake, Zankou, Kyra, Tyler, Grams, Patty, Victor...) and up to this point, with the single exception of the addition of Kyra, there's nothing I've liked about Season 10. So you can already start trying to figure out a way of getting Season 10 to you. Just figure the postage - the cost of the comics can be my Christmas present to you - even if having the sacrificial burning could've been a lot more satisfying...

I'm surprised no one has said anything about the S10 finale. I just found out that it's been out for a few weeks and finally got it myself.
Cyma, if you figure out a way for me to get them to you, they're all yours. I want them as much as I want the DVDs for S4-8 and for the same reason - no main character to root for - I was bored with all of them, just like S4-8. I just read the comics for the same reason I watched Charmed - to see what would happen and to see if my characters would come back. The ones from S9 never did.
I was both wrong and right.
I was wrong think that Cole would come back or that he'd become Coop so Phoebe's special baby would be his.
I was right in that Phoebe comes back with her third daughter and her other two daughters aged quickly enough so they are indeed the PJ, Parker and Peyton of Forever Charmed's flashforward. As I expected, that's the reason why they had to fix everything, so they could get to that happy ending. All this did was get rid of the characters who were part of S9 and not the flashforward - Prue and Cole.
And I was right that nothing was ever said about the Empyrical Sword. Prue's possession and when she is and when she isn't is as ambiguous as Cole's and I hate it just as much.
This is as much of an alternate-universe season to S9 as S4-8 is to S1-3. Pat Shand is definitely the Brad Kern of the comics.
So, no, not pleased at all. It's not part of my head canon. For me, Charmed ended with Paul Ruditis's two ebooks - until I see what Dynamite does - hopefully they do a better job than Zenescope did.

The discussions and heated debates took place at the comic site and Facebook so that must be why it seems quiet here. Already PMed about that

I'll say this about the comics, the cover art has always been excellent. The stories may be rubbish, but the art on the covers always depicts the sisters the way they should look. David Seidman is very talented and his covers have just gotten better as the years have gone along. You're right. The stories are rubbish. I couldn't believe the plot line that I had just read.
