Very interesting thread. I have to think more about the rest of ‘if Prue had been alive' scenarios. For season 8, how Prue will react to Billie and Christy I already answered in another thread: This. Prue was also willing to save Bane, who actually sent a hitwoman to kill her and her sisters. Not to mention kidnapped Prue later. And let's not forget Brendan the priest. Both Piper and Phoebe trusted neither, but they trusted Prue so they went along with whatever plan she had to help those guys. Another reason Prue would try to save Billie and Christy is because she had a very stubborn personality. The reason Piper just accepted killing Billie and Christy was the only way was because the battle was destined. And previous experience had shown her that there was no way to fight against what was destined. Even if she tried to save them, if it was destined that they battle each other and one of them have to die, it would happen no matter what she did to prevent the battle from happening. That's why Piper just accepted it. When the Angel of Destiny herself tells you, how can you not accept it's inevitable? Prue however always had a hard time accepting things. She fought against the Angel of Death and tried to save inspector even if it was his time. Even after the episode, she learned something but it was obvious she never accepted death or the greater reason things happen. In the season 2 episode, 'That Old Black Magic,' it was Kyle's destiny to defeat the evil witch Tuatha, but Prue didn't accept that and went to confront the witch and destroy her so Kyle wouldn't need to face her. I'm pretty sure Prue would've take a similar approach when learning their Ultimate Battle was against a brainwashed witch and her sister. She would've tried to find loopholes. However, I imagine all bets would be off if Prue's sisters get hurt by Billie and Christy. She was ready to send Pratt flying to his death for trying to burn Phoebe to death had Phoebe not stopped her. Not to mention send reporters flying after Piper was brutually shot. Christy was ready to put a three year old Wyatt in harm's way to kill his mother and aunts. If Prue was a mother and Christy does something to harm her child or even nephew or nieces, plans to save Christy would be thrown out of the window right there. Perhaps Prue will react to Billie the same way she reacted to Aviva in the beginning. But it’s really hard to say without knowing how the seasons before had turned out with Prue alive. But Prue and Phoebe butting heads over how to approach the Billie and Christy issue I can definitely see. Just like them butting heads over Cole. It would've been fun to watch if they had continued that relationship.

I can see Prue being massively suspicious of Cole in season 4. Paige already was suspicious, but being new to the family, she didn't want to step on anyone's toes, and probably didn't feel comfortable or confident enough yet to being up a difficult topic to anyone other than Piper. I can see Prue asking Cole tough questions right away and in front of everyone. He wouldn't get away with as much as long as she was still there. Jumping way ahead to the end of the series, I like the idea of Prue not having kids and just focusing on her own life. She already sort of did have kids when her younger sisters needed her as a mother figure, and I can see her being quite happy still helping them from time to time, and taking care of nieces and nephews. This is interesting. I generally kept up with what is happening in Shannen's life. She and her husband thought about having children, but decided to pet sit first. After the job was over they made a decision not to. I find that a wise move. Parenthood is not for everyone, and you shouldn't do it just because. I read somewhere that she has a brother that has a number of children and she loves being an aunt. I suspect she is wonderful at it. You might slap me for bringing the real world to Charmed but I think in this case you can't separate the two. Prue/Shannen even if she was not always successful did try to weigh out situations. Lets face it, none of us can be on target all the time. So in my pondering Shannen brought a lot of her personal heart to the show. I think that takes talent and guts. In short, I am agreeing with your post with a bit of a side-bar added for FYI.

Thank you for starting this thread Granny Charmed and giving me credit. My problem is that even thought I have watched all the episodes and own all but the last season my smarts to comment center around the first three years. After that I have to do homework. I selected the Phoebe/Cole issue as I am the most comfortable with contributing there.
Cole was a most interesting demon, and possibly the greatest threat the girls ever faced. It's one thing to come up against evil that is easily recognized, but with him having a human side emotions come into play. Phoebe fell in love with the part of him that was good, but sadly you couldn't count on that. In a sense he was a mistake on both sides of the fence.
To me the underworld was foolish to place a half-demon, half-human in the position of power he had. His blood line on his father's side could kick in at any time disrupting their plans. This of course happened, yet he still rose to the position of The Source. Very dumb demons.
For the girls you have the same issue. I truly believe that Cole loved Phoebe and she him, but it was an unwise coupling. Like the underworld, The Charmed Ones were playing with fire, never knowing when Cole's mother's blood would begin to boil .... and it did.
I think if Prue had lived Cole would have been out of Phoebe's life sooner, thought possible still hanging around for a spell. Prue did not trust this man and for good reason. She did at times give him the benifit of the doubt and worked with him on occasion, but I don't believe she would have dropped her guard. She knew Phoebe loved him and understood it as Cole's human side was something that was dear to Phoebe's heart. Hey, I liked that part of him too, but no matter what, he was still a Doctor Jekyll and a Mr. Hyde. Think of it like having a tiger as a pet, you might want to reconsider sleeping in the same room.
Phoebe's marriage to him could have been the destruction of The Charmed Ones, and that was a risk not worth taking. I know the girls had hopes and dreams for the future, but with their powers came tremendous responsibility. I know the song says, "I am human and I need to be love just like everybody else does", but they weren't like everyone else. We have chatted about what powers we would like to have if we were Charmed or just a witch ... are you sure?
Phoebe in the end finally realizes this isn't going to work, but I think if Prue was still here; though Pheobe would have been angry at Prue's interference; I would like to believe that she would have eventually understood that Prue's intervention had saved her from future heartaches that would take a long time to heal.
What bothers me here is that I suspect that Prue in order to save Phoebe from herself might have had to sacrafice her life to get rid of Cole. You would have needed the power of three and if Phoebe wouldn't to it the cost would be high. I think she would have weighed the situation and would have done anything to saved Phoebe and Piper if you think about it. So the Charmed Ones would be no more but Phoebe and Piper would still have their powers and could do a lot of good and perhaps no longer have the major demons dropping by all the time.
A thought here is that maybe Prue with the help of Grams and Patty might have discovered a way to have Phoebe fall out of love for him. I think in the end, Piper would have sided with Prue.

My pleasure ShadowCat. I must admit dear - that I am yet to reply to this thread. Seeing as this girl adores those early seasons more, my memory on the last few are quite low. But I truly am thrilled members here have come up with really good ideas. I am having so much fun reading them. I agree with you that Cole would of been out of Phoebe's life sooner if Prue was alive. Prue would of caught on Cole very quickly - and Piper follows. So we would of seen things ending much sooner. You make an interesting point dear - that Prue could of sacrifice herself. It actually might have been *much* better had Prue survived through season 4. So season 5 would be a new rebirth of Charmed - with Paige's introduction not being forced into the Cole/Source storylines dear. Our girls would have vanquished The Source, Cole is gone and Prue is dead. Perhaps we may have seen a much better transition from the first half of the series to the second. *sigh*

You got that right!
Phoebe didn't want to marry Cole
Black as Cole:
Phoebe: I love Cole, you know I do, but demon stuff aside, I never thought of myself as the marrying type. You know, it’s not something I fantasised about. Ever.
Cole: But not the one you wanna marry.
Phoebe: I love you, Cole. And nothing will ever change that. But I'm not ready, not yet. And that's got more to do with me and my issues, than it does you.
The Three Faces of Phoebe
Piper: Belthazor is dead. Cole is a man now. A man that you love more than anything else in the world.
Phoebe: I know. So why am I so damn confused all of a sudden, it's killing me.
Phoebe: It's not that I don't still have cold feet, it's just hearing my past self remind me of Cinderella, and seeing my future self willing to... willing to die for you.
Phoebe needed a sister with an incisive mind, able to make her wondering about her doubts, the reason that why, although in love, she hadn't immediately agreed to marry Cole Piper was too romantic, too wishful not to cause anyone pain Prue would have rather made room for doubts and questions about the future and I think that Phoebe'ld pay attention, after all her premonition power somehow was warning her
Another question: how would Cole behave in case of refusal, since he accepted the idea of the Seer because of the promise of a powerful son?

How would Prue react to Cole in season 4 and 5?
Save him first but then reluctantly vanquish him.
How would Prue react to Chris in season 6?
Interesting. Given both their stubborn head, they will argue alot and i guess Piper will stuck in the middle while Phoebe have the hots for Chris.
How would the Avatars and Zankou play out with Prue around?
Prue is not an easy one to convince whole Utopia thingy, while Zankou.. Prue would have kick his sorry ass. Prue has no hesitation to vanquish demons. Prue was the tough one to battle with.
How would Season 8 play out with Prue in regards to Billie and Christy? Where does Prue end up at series end?
With Billie, Prue might be teaching her and i certainly Billie will not even dare to become a bimbo like how she does with the other 3. While Christy, she might be saving her at first but once she found out the triad involvement, she will vanquish her without thinking. She will be end up become the best mother out of 3 due to her already become a mother at an early for Piper and Phoebe.

I will try to put something forth regarding season 8, which I hated. In fact, I miss most of season 7 when the show was on. I finally got back to it when 8 started and I thought I was on the wrong channel. I always like to quote PENNY from the "Big Bang Thory" ... "What a pile of crap on a cracker".
I think Prue would have been very protective of Billie in the beginning. She would have worked hard to train her and consoled her regarding the loss of her sister. I would like to think that Prue would have been looking into Christy's disappearance privately. With the information she gathered she would have become concerned as to what was really going on. The more she dug the worse it got. When it started to hit critical mass she would have taken this to her sisters. They then would have know that Billie was still in the dark and therefore an innocent, but Christy was dangerous. This would have brought to us a very heart breaking episode. How do sisters tell someone that their sister, if they can't turn her, might have to be destroyed?
Prue's only choice might be to bind Billie's powers and erase her memories for the time being. While she is sort of in limbo they could work on her sister. After all Christy needed Billie to get the ball rolling. As for the Triad, I think the girls would have attempted to finish them off before making a decision on Christy's fate. Though once the Triad was no more it might have been wise to bind her powers and erase her memories for all the years she was gone. One way or another I would have liked to see the two girls go home.
NOTE to Granny Charmed, when it comes to the seasons I like and know best ..... we are in the same coven. LOL

I share many of the thoughs you write, not this assertion Phoebe loved Cole, and she knew that Cole was also Belthazor Phoebe accepted Cole for what he was, as long as he did not use his demonic powers to do harm
Really good reason if you think of Cole's try to kill her with empathy, a death fulll of pain
Phoebe had the guts to close her love story with Cole though she still was very much in love: if Prue was alive,it would have occurred much earlier Piper was too upset by her problems in becoming pregnant to think about the strangeness of that sudden pregnancy, but Prue would wonder about it, a pregnancy in infertile period creates question mark
The conception of a child by a woman who has doubts about her marriage would have been even more suspicious

Tomorrow's harvest moon will be the one chance to impregnate your wife. The power of the moon combined with this tonic will make her fertile to a demon's seed, and override any preventative measures she's taken.
The sisters always talked about many things, a pregnancy in the presence of contraceptives would greatly alarmed Prue The Fifth HalliwellPiper: Yeah, you hated it. You said you hated being a lawyer. Cole: Yeah, but that job was high stressed and paid nothing. This one.. Leo: Comes with a Porsche Always in this episode - it is not the subject but I like to point it out - there are two interesting statements about the work: Paige doesn't seem very motivated to work as a social worker, Phoebe hopes to use her studies to help people in a non-magical way Paige: Ugh, I can't. I have to go to that evil place where they keep my pay cheque. Phoebe: Because, Piper, it's not about that. I have a degree in psychology that I worked really hard for and I would like to be able to use it to help people in a non-magical way. Prue'ld investigate about this sudden wealth and prodigality

Sol, Paige wasn't yet a social worker in that episode. She was probably doing a lot of work she had no interest in rather than directly helping people, and that's why she called her job "evil."
And yes, Prue would definitely investigate Cole's sudden good fortune. Not much got past her. I can even see her following him and spying on him. Now that would have been fun!

Oh, Elle Em ... I would have loved to watch Prue follow Cole around too. I could see her doing work in the private sector compiling information. That is just what I thought she would have done with Christy. Prue being of a suspicious nature anyway, as she got older and wiser she might have kept more intell to herself until the time was right, then .... wam.

The Prue following Cole around makes me think she would be the one doing all the following around in season 6 with Chris instead of Leo. It just made no sense that Leo being a brand new Elder hanging around Earth full time stalking Chris instead of working to restore Up There after the Titans destroyed majority of the Elders.

Agreed .... so what I am seeing here is that if Prue was alive she would have worked to fine tune her astral-self so she could keep tabs on Cole, Chris and Christy. I see a notebook in her room known as the tracking of the three (C's). LOL

Sadly Granny Charmed I don't know anything about the alernate future except my own, and even then I am confused.
As near as I can tell when one uses astral powers you can not cast spells, but only observe. That is the area I would like to have seen grow. With her abilities I would hope she could at some point be in control in two places.

Interesting challenge here, Granny Charmed. lol How would Prue react to Cole in season 4 and 5?Seeing as how suspicious she already was in S3, I guess it'd have gone on. The marriage of Phoebe and Cole she'd never have supported since she knew her sister couldn't accept Cole's life because Phoebe may act strong but she never is, really. If Phoebe would have switched to the evil side, Prue would have done anything to get her back, no matter at what cost. And at the end of S4, Cole is also gone for good. No coming back in S5. How would Prue react to Chris in season 6?At first maybe suspicious as well but I think there were enough hints in this season to see Chris who he is, and I'd guess that Prue could have seen it and helped him with all. She might have kicked Gideon's ass more sooner than later and might have stopped Leo from becoming an Elder in the first place. Yet I still think it was Leo's own doing what made him become an Elder and not only Chris' but that's beside the point here. How would the Avatars and Zankou play out with Prue around?True, a future without any demons but also without a free will, not for Prue's liking. Sure, there were times when even she would have done for a normal life but she's a witch and I think, she has accepted her destiny. For good. How would Season 8 play out with Prue in regards to Billie and Christy? Definitely not accept Billie as part of the family so quickly. Maybe be suspicious of Christy when she first resurfaced as she seemed to be part of something long planned and tried to yank Billie away as fast as she could. That's how it looked for me. Christy was more following her order than anything, plus the Triad had tried before - with Cole. Do not forget this little fact! Where does Prue end up at series end? Maybe alone and watching over her growing family but I could also picture her with a friend. Yet definitely as a photographer, taking photos of her nephews and sisters and brother-in-laws. Her Dad also plays an important role in her life since she'd seen him close with Chris before. My ideas for this.
