Season 4 is my favourite to watch for the drama and action mixed with really good individual and collective acting performances.
Season 1,2 and 3 are the best in that order for me. Then 4. Those would be my fave seasons. The others aren't worth watching in my opinion.
Season 7 reminds me of Season 4 in its darkness, references to the Source, Zankou and back to the Cole/Trial era.
Season 5, 6 and 8 are complete cancels for me.
The show was deteriorating by the end of Season 4 so 5, 6, 7 and 8(mistake) are below par for me.

My feelings have changed, I'mma choose "disliked it, now like it". I'm starting to watch the show through a different lens.
What's easy to miss in S4 is the power balance (as in their powers). I never realized how well balanced out their power usage was, in S4 until I started doing my spread sheets. Phoebe has premonitions and levitates in a fairly balanced manner. Piper blows things up but (also) freezes things, in a fairly balanced manner. Paige adapting and utilizing her magic, as well. Blending in the powers of both Cole and Leo, and it's really interesting to watch.
S4 (also) has a good episode list of "protect the innocent", as well. I was pleasantly surprised with my findings.

Loved it now dislike it. I don't know, there's good episodes in S4. But, I don't love it like I used too. It's a depressing season depending on your mood. But I'm in the minority that didn't mind S6, at least it wasn't as depressing as S4. Yeah the execution with battling the Source was a huge letdown. For something that should've been more a grand event, it really wasn't. But Charmed I always felt was great with strong one-shot episodes not developing big arcs. Maybe that's why its so watchable compared to so much serialized television these days I can't get into. I don't mind two-parters or some arc building, I just hate when things drag out so much or every episode ends on a cliffhanger. After the S6 re-watch and thinking about S5-S8 and S4-S8. My feelings have changed. Previously voted like it to dislike it. Now it's disliked it to like it again. I still believe this season can be depressing depending on your mood. But I do think it has a better ending than S5 or S6. Yes it's still rushed, but the season started and ended stronger than S5 or S6. Yes like S6 lots of missed opportunities and promising storyline unfulfilled. If I compare Paige and Chris' introduction seasons, Paige has a much better season. Yes I know Chris dies and had one season as a main character, but I'm thinking more so in the lense of a new main character introduced. They did a better job with Paige. But in the Paige Era seasons and overall this one has moved up. I'll have to see with the S7 and S8 board rewatches where the others stand.

Its my fave season to rewatch. Theres somethign about the colour bit or shooting that makes season 4 sort of timeless with the fashion. Like anything is now up for grabs when it comes to costume and hair design. I am one of the very few that loves the copy Phoebe Queen of the Underworld storyline and Long Live The Queen is one of my favourite episodes. I just love how that is where the series ended up. It fit in so well with the premise of the series too. Great individual acting performances in brain drain, hell hath no Fury, Paige form the Past, saving private leo and the fifth halliwell as well. all-in-all. After so much loss (over the period of 9/11 as well in 2001), its a nostolgic season for me with the perfect ending to a horrible end to a different story!

Really its those first 3 that may do it for some fans.
Yeah, Paige's introduction was handled much better than Chris.
S6 is still a fun season, if you just forget about Chris/the main arc, and look at the fun solo episodes and concepts the show was attempting. But yeah, S4 >>> S6 if we are talking about the back-end of the season arc.

I recently bought the Blu-ray set and started rewatching the entire show. Currently in the middle of season 6.
I used to own season 1-3 on DVD and later on I got season 4. Never owned season 5-8 since I never cared that much about them.
1-3 were always my favorite seasons, and I am fond of season 4, I think it's decent. My only two issues with season 4 are:
1. No Prue. Whether you're a fan of hers or not, the show had more gravitas with Prue, and I think something was definitely lost after she died. And she deserved to be there to vanquish the Source.
2. The Source. He was severely downplayed. I think it would have been more interesting if the Source and the Elders were deities rather than what they ended up being. The Elders being either a kid waiting for an existing Elder to retire or whitelighters promoted was a joke but that's a season 5 issue. The Source wasn't treated as badly but it was a let down that he was just another demon they needed to vanquish. After three years of build up to end this way was honestly disappointing.
But yeah I think season 4 is good overall. I used to care only about seasons 1-3 so when I owned only those seasons on DVD, I used to watch them and then keeping Pre-Witched to watch last and be sort of a "series finale" but that doesn't really work because some of the plotlines from season 3 continue in season 4 like the Source and Phoebe and Cole's relationship, and I think season 4 does a somewhat good job in "wrapping up" the series and ending in a more optimistic note.
I don't have much to write about seasons 1-3 since I still love them, but I might write my thoughts on later seasons since it's the first time I rewatch them ever since they first aired (I never owned them on DVD).
