Does anyone else dislike Sam in Season 8 when he returned in 8x07 "The Lost Picture Show"? I really didn't like how he pretty much declared Paige as a full whitelighter regardless of how she personally feels. Paige wanted to become a social worker again, which she loved. She felt it was her calling at first, not being a whitelighter.
She is a half-whitelighter for a reason. She didn't have to be a full whitelighter, which she shouldn't have been forced to by the Elders. Just like Wyatt and Chris, the Elders forced a destiny on Paige. To me, it wasn't her destiny to become a full whitelighter. Just like her sisters, she wanted to live a life outside of magic which would've been social work.
In season 5, she quit after being promoted to a social worker because it took too much time away from her duty as a Charmed One. But in this season, she decided to pass on being one because of the Elders' persistence and her dad's crazy belief that since she is his daughter and he's a whitelighter, she has to be one as well.
I LOVED Paige in this season, but the writers really destroyed a part of her by having the Elders and Sam shove her into being a whitelighter. Sam should've been brought back earlier or referenced as still being around in season 8 and not show up back in Paige's life after three years, expect her to just save his innocent the way he wants, and then continuously force her into being a full whitelighter.

I never saw a reason why they should of bothered bringing him back at all. LOL Yes to reconnect with Paige. But Grams and Patty kept returning all the time. Did he need to return after getting killed previously. He could of came back, it wasn't like he was in her life much after. He needed to stay dead.
I got upset when Paige was just going to go back to being a social worker and then look who comes back and they drop that story. That really upset me so much. I was cheering when she wanted to go back to being a social worker.

Paige should never have been forced to be a full time whitelighter IMO as she wasn't one only half which the Elders and Sam should've realised actually.
Really she should've told them either where to stick it or said, "Okay then I'll help you out with a few charges but only part time whilst I do my social worker job also." Had she worked that again so they'd get what they want but on her terms obviously and not there's respectively.

It seemed like the Elders and Sam had one plan and one plan only: have Paige be a whitelighter and that's it. They didn't care what her personal goals were. It's actually pretty ironic that the Elders gave her a charge and the charge got her other charge killed and then that same charge killed her.

I take it that with Leo gone being the girls' whitelighter, the Elders looked for a new one and found a proper candidate in Paige since she was already born half whitelighter. If the same rule would apply for the future boys, we can only guess here since we will never see an answer to this.

Paige was born a full fledged Whitelighter with a witch side. She isn't 50% whitelighter but rather 100% whitelighter. She is basically like Cole. Cole father was Human and his mother Demon. However Cole was still a full fledged demon with the whole immortality and Demon side.
Paige charges weren't given to her by the Elders like other whitelighters. It was even made Clear by the elders they have no control over that even if they wanted. With that being said there was no way she could ignore her whitelighter side if she wanted to or not. On top of that Paige was a better Whitelighter than Social worker. She saved more innocents, helped more people and got more done. As a social worker she would have to play by the rules/laws and thus would have restricted how effective her help was.

Paige was a fledged witch with some whitelighter powers She'ld be free to choose what she wanted to do of her life, which kind of job As Prue, she wasn't perfectly pleased of her job as social worker, she had the right to experience something different and maybe to come back to her old job Sam and the Elders had no right to interfere, it is as if the existence of the Power of the Three was to blow off The Power of Thrre was unique, while they had a plenty of whitelighters!

It was a rehash. It seemed like Paige was still mad at him when they made up in season 5. I like to think his story ended in season 2

Paige was just as much of a whitelighter as she was a witch. She had just as much whitelighter in her as she did witch. That is like saying Prue,Piper, and Phoebe were mortals with some witch powers or Cole was human with some demon powers. Paiges mother was a witch while her father a whitelighter. She has the same amount of whitelighter DNA as she does Witch DNA. Just as Paige can't run away from being a charmed one she can't run away from being a whitelighter. That was a huge theme within the show. The whole reason she quit her social work job is because she couldn't be a charmed One and a social worker at the same time. Remember all those times she was missing and pushing deadlines back because a new demon came up? I don't think that is going to change. Also Sam never forced Paige into doing anything. Everything was 100% her choice. He simply tried to persuade her. As a huge Paige fan I can tell you looking back at Season 6 and 7 that she enjoyed being a whitelighter. Even in Season 8. So it wasn't like Sam was persuading her to do something she hated.

I agree that she cannot be a good social worker because her Charmed One life was too unpredictable, she wasn't able to follow her schedule, same Prue's problem
She had a restless nature, always searching for something different, certainly not a whitelighter attitude She wished to be a superwitch, she loved to invent spell, she loved magic, I can see Paige as teach for her and her sisters's children but not Paige to consecrate her life baby-sitting whitelighters

I disagree on the part of the Elders and Sam coercing Paige into doing Whitelighter things. She is half-whitelighter (and, who she is), afterall, and it was a way for us (the audience) to explore more in what Paige can do aside from doing just witch stuff. I enjoyed watching Paige explore her whitelighter side, reunite with her father and being more than just a Charmed One.
