Not sure this will be of interest to member's, but nothing ventured nothing gained.
I loved Kit, and I had a friend that had a Siamese that looked just like him/her. Oh of course I know, they all look alike.
We have 3 indoor/outdoor kitties along with a barn cat, 1 dog, 1 horse and one mini donkey. So we are animal super friendly. Oh and I forgot a small cover of crows, large assortment of other birds, a million squirrels, rabbits, the occasional fox, some raccoons and twice a brown bear who had a wonderful time rearranging the rock garden and messing with the wind-chimes. In short, no hunting here.
Anyway, I have been on other sites that have a pet corner where folks can share joys and sorrows of being pet parents. Some of the advice was very useful so I thought I would start something here.
Two of our cats came down with problems at the same time. One was soaking the litter box to the point of flooding, the other was trying to make a deposit to the litter bank and came up short. Both had to make a visit to the vets.
The one that was competing with Niagara Falls had a kidney infection, and upon closer inspection was at the first stages of diabetes. The other one had cystitis yet again. Collectively they cost twice as much as my first car. Okay so that was in 1973. Still when you are on social security this is a scary situation.
My point here is if you have cats that use a litter pan, and you really care about them ... you have to be on potty patrol. This is a must and know that generally felines suffer in silence until it's to late.

Wow you must own a farm or something all the animals you've had then.
Yeah it can be nasty when animals are ill which I know all too well from my cat Ginger named so because of her colour whom I had 15 years growing up.
She started peeing blood in her last year of life which proved too costly to repair as had no pet insurance so was easier to put down which we done so.
I wept buckets at the time but got over it afterwards because we'd had her so long obviously.
Would get my own pet insurance if had an animal in the future myself probably.

I am so sorry to hear about your kitty. I have been there and it is heart breaking. We had a cat years ago with the same problem. We got to him in time and were able to say him, and oh yes it was costly.
This is not always the case, but a lot of times it has to do with the food we feed them. Dry food back then had something in it called ash. This is very bad for them especially for male cats as they have a narrower urethra. If they have a blockage they can become toxic.
Both of cats are now on a special diet regardless if they like it or not.
Note: too much fish is not good for them. Cats in the wild are meat eaters. We are the ones that have introduced this into our domesticated cats diet. Refrain.
If you have a sick cat and can't afford the special food you might try getting boneless chicken and either boiling or steaming it. Do not add anything to it. I then cut it up and mix with either chicken or turkey baby food. Of course, always check with your vet as I am not all that savvy.

Having just lost my lovely Pyewacket I found a beautiful poem for all that are grieving over a pet's passing and I thought I would share it.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I have two cats named Stan Lee and Spencer. I had a dog for about 6 years, but we had to put him down in 2018. He developed pancreatitis and, for the last two weeks of his life, was vomiting blood and completely miserable, so we decided we couldn't handle seeing him that uncomfortable. I also had a cat named Zoey for awhile.

I currently have one cat named Stan Lee. He just got over an upper respiratory infection and is dealing with other veterinary issues. (He gave me quite a scare with the respiratory infection. Of course, he had the vet techs and the newest vet at my animal hospital falling in love with him. The vet even kissed him the last time she saw him.)

Ah a Marvel fan I see being why your cats named Stan Lee. Actually, it was the family that had him before me that named him. lol. I had never heard of Marvel or the human Stan Lee until I met my cat. I think their son, who was about 8 at the time, probably named him.
