Best vs. Fave Season(s)

For example - Season 3 and 4 are my fave's but to be Seasons 1 and 2 are the best when critically looking at it.

Easy for me. For me, S1 & 2 (despite the triangle) are both the best and my fave. For me, it went downhill as soon as they introduced a mercenary demon who could love rather than obsess just because his mother screwed a human many, many years ago.

Best seasons: S1 and S7. Charmed at its best in my eyes.

Favorite seasons: S6 & S7. Yeah, some things could have done better but I love Chris, no matter what.

Little confused about the thread in regards to best vs. fave. Since it seems the same to me, unless you mean best as in what we perceive to be the best among the fandom and critically liked.

So for that reason. I am going to vote what I like only and that is season 1 and 2 as best and fave.

Interesting as yet, there is no clear winner. Although it looks like most fans agree that 5,6 and 8 aren't in the best category but are contenders for favourites.

I changed my Best vote to Season 1 and Season 3. Even though Season 2 does have some really great episodes, overall, I feel like the only overarching thing is really Piper and Leo after the Leo vs Dan thing which was meh and not much eventuates out of Season 2 apart from that and Prue getting a new power and Phoebe remains Phoebes but really, not much character development.

Fave is still Season 3 and 4. The Cole and Paige beginning eras.

Hey folks....just thought that I would bump this as there are a lot of new users and a lot of conversation about best vs. Fave season.

Season 2 is my favourite and my best.

Season 1 is my 2nd best.

And my second favourite season is Season 4.

For me, Season Three is not only the best, but my favorite. Season One is my second favorite season and to me, the second best.

I guess objectively Season 1 is the best since it has the least amount of baggage to carry and is probably the only season where all the sisters individually are solid. As well as that peaceful 90's tone it has along with it. If it comes to favorite Season 2 easily, it has the best episodes of the show and its the season where Phoebe shines, who was my favorite back then. Really anything within the first 4 seasons are good.

Out of all the Seasons 1 - 4. I dont like rewatching Season 3 so much. I like the acting and the individual episodes.

BUt I find it interesting that S 1, 2 & 4 are considered the favourites, and not 1, 2 and 3. Prue's character in S3 is quite destructive I guess.

And terms of the Best Season, that goes to Season 1 it looks - with 2,3 and 4 pretty much tied.


My favourite Seasons to rewatch are Season 2 and 4. I feel like they have similar vibes (mix of light and dark balanced well) and all the characters are likeable.

My least favourite Seasons are 6 and 8.

As a critic I think Season 2 is the best, followed by Season 1 which had some teething issues at the beginning (but S2 did have the awkward love triangle thing).

As a critic I think Season 8 and Season 6 are equally as least best for different reasons.

I could make an argument for 1 and 3 each being both the best and my favorite. Season 1 is, in my opinion, the very core of the show. It captures its essence unlike any other season. This is what Charmed is at its roots, even if it doesn't stay this way. For that reason, I could say that it's the best season.

However, season 3 just worked in a way that went beyond any of the other seasons for me. Regardless of how you personally feel about the storylines, it was just a cool season. I remember this season having the most appeal to people who didn't ordinarily watch the show or like shows that were similar to it. I feel like it betrays a lot about what the show was meant to be and sets it on a path that it never quite recovers from, but at the same time, it just worked.

When I think that season 1 is my favorite, I always think about how it felt like it was the sisters against the world, and how they dressed in more normal clothes, worked at sometimes unpleasant jobs, and just overall felt more relatable. It's the most down to earth season and has a homey comfort that I can't find as much of in any other season.

However, season 3 was my introduction to the show, and so it will always be special to me. It was cool and exciting, even if mistakes were made along the way and those feelings don't last.

The heart of season 1 with the style of season 3 would have been really, really cool to see.

Its fantastic that we are have different likes/preferences and I can completely agree with you at the same time.

Season 3 does have a 'professional' tone to it. Its Charmed with Legs and running at a good pace. There are somethings I would have liked to have been different like Cole leaving in Sleuthing (even though I am one of the few that loves the Cole-Source storyline in S4).

I remember I was in high school when Season 3 started and it definitely attracted a bigger male audience. I think all 3 actresses are stunningly attractive plus there is the whole who do you like Leo or Cole thing (I suppose there was Dan and Andy before, but not as prominent or 'in' the Charmed circle). Cole's character also would have bought in a bigger male audience perhaps and Prue showcased a lot more masculinity.

So I remember Season 3 (and 4) having a bigger audience here in NZ/Australia and Charmed became a Friends, That 70's Show, Will & Grace - like show.

I do like Season 1 heaps too, I get what you say about it being the 'root'. I love how simple the ladies look in their regular clothes. It is so hard to see how Sweet Phoebe could turn into what she does. 

I liked Season 2 and 4 because I feel like the sisters are 'tested' a lot more with their morality, their personal lives - even though that happens in 1 and 3 too. Season 2 Prue finding her new way, without Andy, without having to always being strong, being a little irresponsible and trying a new career is probably the most interesting in her character development. I see the same with Season 4, with Piper having to step up more and Paige really coming into a being a 'witch' and a 'sister' by the end of the Season.

There is something about Season 3 that I dont like watching. Maybe perhaps its the only Original PO3 season where I don't like the characters as much, Prue for her recklessness, Piper's complaining and Phoebes deceit and obsession.

However, I do think the individual episodes are written amazingly and the acting and directing is amazing.

Best Seasons really are S1 & S4, but my favorites are S3 & S6. Despite S4 being low on my list of re-watchability, I have to give it props for some good writing.

For right now, I’m going to vote in the poll based on "all time best" season and "my all time favorite" season, as I’m still deciding on which seasons would be second best for both of these.

Best all time season? Season 1.
My personal all time favorite season? Season 1.

For me, Season 1 is everything and the superior season without a doubt in comparison to the rest of the show.

As for the number two slot for all time best season and all time favorite season at the moment? I’m leaning towards Season 3 for now (for both best & favorite), but I’ll get back to you with a more finalized answer when I’m done rewatching S4-S8 ;P

Season 4 just edged out Season 2 for "Best Season" - interesting!

I chose season 1 as the best for the overall look, feel, and mysticism of the series then season 2 as my fav for how the show was balanced out with the monster of the week storylines, and sisterly scenes barring the Piper, Dan, and Leo love triangle story which later on in life didn't appeal to me as it did when I was 20.
