I was wondering the same thing and I am not completely shocked that Holly might have been the friend Shannon mentioned in her special with Chelsea, especially since they have not been in each others pictures. I hope they can rekindle their friendship but sometimes you just move apart. I'm guessing their won't be any Charmed panels with the three of them anymore =(

This has come up on and off for sometime. So It wouldn't surprise me if it is true really.
But Holly has been vocal for the past few years on twitter and has surprised me with her opinions on things and she isn't holding back. Especially getting mad at Alyssa for a simple comment about what it was like to work on Charmed and her feelings on Shannen being fired from Charmed. I notice she has responded to this new article online and giving her views. Yet Shannen has been ignoring it all, don't blame her. She has enough on her plate at the moment.
Shannen has really changed for the better over the years from the reputation she had in her younger years. Yet Holly has surprised me the most, with how she is pretty vocal on not holding back how she feels over the years.
I hope the pair can work it out, if it were true. To think cancer could destroy a long friendship. Hope for the best.

I hope they work it out but when someone deals with something like cancer many do bail for various reasons but some don't want to end up losing the person so they distance themselves. I hope they can work it out, not for the fans but for their friendship and own personal lives |

All we have is the no social media contact between the two with photos and based off what Shannen said last year in an interview. I think we should all hope for the best. Especially with Charmed's 20th anniversary next year. I hope to see all the cast reunited the same way Buffy has recently going a reunion. Imagine getting to see all four women together for the very first time ever reunited. A Charmed first. |

Even if they *are* feuding (and it could be because when they're together all Shannen wanted to talk about is her treatment. I've run into friends like that. You try to be sympathetic but just like Poor, Poor Pitiful Piper on Charmed, it gets sickening after a while, especially if you have problems of your own like Holly did with her divorce and then trying to raise three boys on her own. When I had my own problems, I couldn't offer the love and support my friends needed - I needed it myself, so I'd go to other friends who could offer me the support I needed - and my sick friends understood that), hopefully once Shannen is fully healed, we'll see these two friends back together again, like what happened with me and those friends.

I guess it all depends on how personal Shannen took it if that is what happened. I have to admit when I think of a 20th anniversary the last thing I think about is Shannen, Alyssa and Rose celebrating it without Holly but three is better than none at all.

I thought about this too when I watched her interview with Chelsea Handler. She said some of her friends told her something like, all you talk about anymore is cancer. And of course no one wants to be unsympathetic to someone who's sick, but at the same time, they're not going through it themselves, and they have issues on their own. I think most people would be good enough to stick by their friends who are going through something like this, but at the same time, it's not a bad thing to think about yourself and to not want to be dragged down by constant talk of disease and similar things. It's a tough situation, because obviously people who are ill deserve love and support, but it isn't possible to give 100% to someone and still have energy left for yourself. I can see how some people might just become sick of it and want to have some time without talk of cancer in the picture. It isn't fair that some people can walk away from it and some like Shannen can't, but as devastating as her illness is and as difficult as things may be, it's not the only thing in the world. |

I hope Holly and Shannen work it out. Unlike my aunt and her best friend, who were in a similar situation it seems to My aunt and her friend. It is true, some people do not like to constantly hear talk about cancer. But it is really hard to not support someone when they need you the most. But on top of this, I hope it will work itself out in time for a Charmed reunion special next year. Although what if the thought of a Charmed reunion is what reunites them again. We can hope.
I guess, we should hope for the best. Although I had no idea Sarah Michelle Gellar was so close with Shannen. Lately ever since her cancer, they hang out so much. I honestly didn't know this.

There is a video/interview regarding Holly and Shannen no longer being "in touch" (which doesn't necessarily mean they're "not friends"). Time-Stamp 15m & 43s, where Holly mentions this (it's already time-stamped, for your convenience but feel free to watch the whole thing, if interested): This interview is 2 years old, so unless there's some other update, this is the closest to revealing "the truth", as we'll get. |

Sharing this here again. I can't find the post from a few years back with the podcast link. So had to search for it. Holly talks about Shannen's cancer and mentions she does still talk to her occasionally. Seems like it's just maybe a phone call or text once in a while. She talks fondly of her. Can't find tweets. But Holly defended herself in early 2020 or 2019 (I can't remember) when fans bashed her for not showing online support when Shannen posted her cancer came back. She said she doesn't use social media to talk to friends she has known for years. Possibly implying they still communicate via the phone here and there. Holly also speaks about Shannen leaving Charmed too and the phone call that they fired her. I went through this podcast, in order to get Time-Stamps, along with a little bit of a transcript-ish, for those interested. 46m20s - 46m22sInterviewer: Do you still talk to her? Holly: I do. I still talk to her, occasionally. 50m21s - 51m11sBoth Holly & the Interviewer discussing/revealing details about Shannen's condition. 53m58s - 54m04sInterviewer: So, when she left, what did that do, to the dynamic? Holly: It was a surprise to both of us. 54m08s - 54m13sHolly: Shannen had asked out of her contract, December, the year before. 54m14s - 54m16sInterviewer: Did you know, she was not happy? I guess it was more financially feasible for them to let her go at the end of the season, then it was at the middle of the season. Like, it was very calculated and not handled well, whatsoever. 59m00s - 59m34sHolly: At the time, I took it very personally. I was really pissed I wasn't involved in this decision making process because the show I signed onto to do was with Shannen. So, I went into the office and said "this is not the show I signed up to do, anymore. So, I should be able to go, too." Right? I should be able to be "let go", too! And they said in no uncertain terms that if I was to try to leave, I would be sued. Interviewer: Because you were under contract. Holly: Mhmm. 1hr03m19s - 1hr03m47sInterviewer: She's (regarding Rose) coming into a family that's already, you know, an existed family, with its own problems, as every family has, its ups and downs, was that an easy adjustment, do you think, for you? Or, was that hard? Holly: Oh no, it was super hard. With Shannen leaving, it was emotional... Interviewer: (interjects) 'Cause you were friends. Holly: ...for me and emotional for her just because of the unexpected way it was done. She directed her last episode. Interviewer: I did not know that! This is purely speculative and apart from Shannen talking about those friends that no longer found her "fun" once she got cancer (could've been talking about Holly...who knows)..but I think like a lot of relationships at the time, their friendship probably became strained due to politics. Holly is a lot more liberal than Shannen and those were a tough couple of years around when they ended their friendship.

Yes, it is shocking reading again how Shannen was fired even though I knew that already.
Considering she got Holly on the show as Piper and how friendly they become I can understand how Holly would want to leave along with Shannen then but couldn't due to her contract and everything.
Although Shannen was treated dirty I'm glad she left the end of season 3 because that meant Kernus couldn't ruin Prue's character the way he and Aaron in part did Piper and Phoebe.
Working rights now involving actors I'm sure has changed but I tell you I wouldn't have liked to have been on a show like that then if a similar thing happened to me obviously.

I mean... On this topic who really knows. I think the political landscape of the USA separated a lot of friends and relationships. I know Shannen is a republican, as is her now close friend Sarah Michelle Gellar. That being said I know neither of them voted for Trump. But still, I know Holly isn't republican - this could have been the foundation of them being seemingly not as close anymore.
All of this being said I am not American and I don't claim to know the inner workings of these dynamics between people. I am Canadian and it is basically pretty different here in terms of discourse. Canada definitely has it's own problems though, as anywhere does.
Shout out to all of the fabulous Americans on this form <3.
