Did anyone else get the vibe that either Drew Fuller was trying to act like a straight guy?
In the family would you say that Phoebe and Chris would be the most bisexual or gay characters?
If Charmed premiered in 2018, rather than in 1998 do you think one of the siblings or reoccurring characters e.g.: Elise or even a demon like Barbus would be cast as LGBTIQ characters?
Also do you think it would have been more interesting if Paige's character was a lesbian or bisexual?

Chris was a bit feminine in his maneurisms but I think that had more to do with Drew and his career as a model, he would have been surrounded by woman and lots of gay men and after enough time influence rubs off. But Chris seemed quite the lladies man, he was engaged to Bianca and had liasons with the Valkryies.
In todays reboot yes I imagine one of them would be more sexually fluid, I actually think it would be Prue, who has always been super responsible, tightly wound, I can imagine her hiding it from herself and her sisters to save face.

First time I watched the show, I thought that both Phoebe and Chris were gay characters who hadn't accepted the fact that they were gay, which would've been typical for gay people in the late 90's/early 00's, before they started being more accepted and coming out of the closet.
And for both, it's due to how the actor played them - Chris treated Bianca more like a mother-figure who was taking Piper's place than a lover (after all, Bianca was at least 5 years older than Chris),and when Phoebe kissed a guy she always looked like she was trying to eat the guy alive as if to show how much she loved him, when I didn't think she had a true sexual connection with any of her guys - Cole and Coop most definitely included - while she had a real connection with Kyra. That was always the spin-off I wanted - a demon who wanted to be human with her witch lover helping her.
Of course, since I always thought that Chris was the reincarnation of Prue, it was easy for me to accept Chris as gay, since according to my friend who's into reincarnation, that's reincarnation's explanation for homosexuality and transexuality.
This doesn't mean that I think either Drew Fuller or Alyssa Milano are gay (I couldn't care less either way - their business, not mine), just the way they portrayed their character, the way a lot of straight actors have played gay characters and vice versa.
The way the media's been going, it wouldn't surprise me that in a reboot, one of the sisters would be openly gay.

I think that has more to do with Prue being the Oldest and trained by Grams to be the leader of the Charmed Ones than her sexual preference. I'm that way and am definitely straight. In order to make one of the sisters openly gay, I think they'd start with three totally different sisters with totally different names, perhaps all starting with M like Melinda Warren rather than a P. Along the same lines, hopefully they'd be Warrens, not Halliwells, so Grams wouldn't be a liar when she says Warren women keep their maiden name.

I could see Prue, Phoebe and Paige as bi/lesbian. Wouldn't be surprised if Chris messed around in college.

I definitely can see one sister as bi or a lesbian in a Charmed reboot. If they did reboot Charmed one day, I don't think the sisters should be exactly the same as they were in our original series. Maybe they are better off not naming the show Charmed and giving it a different name and different sisters.

That was always the spin-off I wanted - a demon who wanted to be human with her witch lover helping her. Agreed! Not to sound like a prude but I hate watching her kissing scenes... Cole appeared more like an infatuation to me, and Coop as if she was just settling. I could see Phoebe being bi most out of all the sisters (though of course you can't just go off stereotypes but this is TV) considering she was the most adventurous and unruly sister. I think the fandom can agree Phoebe and Kyra was a wasted opportunity.

I never once saw Phoebe as gay or Bi. Coming from someone who knows about being Gay and bi. Personally I never saw it. Yes she was adventurous but that doesn't make someone Gay or Bi despite stereotyping.
Chris I saw as Bi. His mannerism tending to support that.
If you are saying if the exact same sisters lived in 2018 would they be Bi or Gay. I say no. Phoebe never cared what other people thought of her and did what she wanted. It being 1998 wouldn't have stopped her from being into girls. That also wouldn't have stopped the writers.
Now if writers were to do a show today then yes out of obligation they would do a LGBT character. Even make one of the sisters LGBT.

I just wanted to add to this topic because I didn't know where else to put it. Do you think it would have been interesting if Paige's character was gay? I was thinking which sister would have more closely have identified as being LGBTI, and I thought Phoebe, esp with Kyra but then, I do remember Phoebe being the one who was into guys the most, talking about their bums and was always perving on dudes - Glen, Leo, Dan, the supersonic speedy witch! I think it would have been interesting to see the new sister being introduced as someone belonging from the LGBTI community. Paige seemed to replace Prue's storylines in Season 4 and, other than her Parent's dying earlier, her alcoholism, want for a separate identity and her conception, there wasn't anything really interesting about her as she just became the extra sister I could have seen Paige as a 'burn your bra' type of feminist character, while Phoebe was the opposite Phoebe: "I am protesting against the portrayal of witches in Popular Culture!" - Piper :"Which is why you chose your outfit as the Mistress of the Dark?" - " Phoebe: "This dress happens to be a statement" - Prue: "It's funny how you can make a statement and show cleavage all at the same time!" (Quote: guess the episode I think the show did explore sex and sexuality quite a little and it would have been an interesting dynamic for Paige to maybe even link up with a witch-practitioner or another lesbian witch. We'd get to see a side of feminism, girl power, completely different to what Prue (conventionalist), Piper (Traditionalist), Phoebe (Libertarian) bought the table in the sisterhood. I guess with how conservative the WB and Aaron Spelling was - this probably wouldn't happen but if made today - I think this could be quite awesome. Any thoughts or am I too far off?

It might have been a good idea, but not in 2000 and not when they were trying to replace Prue. The series never would've gotten past whenever you showed that she was openly gay. Having her be what I think Phoebe and Chris were - gay people who hadn't accepted the fact that they were gay - is as close as they would've been able to come.

Another reason why I don't think Prue was gay is the true sexual connection she had with both Bane and Cole. The sparks simply steamed between them, something that didn't happen between her and Andy or Piper and Leo (it did with Piper and Greg the Fireman) or Phoebe and any of her male "lovers" or Chris and Bianca.

I can definitely see Chris as a gay character. For the sisters, if I were rewriting Charmed to be LGBT-friendly/open, Prue definitely would have been a lesbian. And I would have LOVED for Phoebe & Kyra the Seer to pair up. They would have been an amaaaazing couple.

If they'd found out that one of their boyfriends was gay, well, that would've worked. And not sure if I like the idea of the oldest as lesbian, the way people think Prue was lesbian when she was simply and Oldest who was a leader. I *so* wanted Prue to be attracted to Cole - the one who tried to follow the rules the most being attracted to someone evil - delicious! I noticed the one in the reboot who's lesbian is sorta the middle but raised as an Oldest so it will be interesting to see how they handle it. Now the youngest, raised as the Baby, who's adventurous, yeah, she's the one who should've been, like Chris is the younger of the two brothers.

To be honest I never really got the impression that Phoebe was bi or lesbian, but I hear that she had good chemistry with Kyra, so I'd be willing to change my opinion on that once I see it. I can totally see Paige as bi, though.
I think Chris is bi, if not gay.
Prue as a lesbian is actually one of my favorite headcanons. I think there's enough evidence in canon to support her being attracted to women, at least. In interpreting Prue as a lesbian, I see her relationships with Andy and Bane actually how a lot of lesbians (including myself) have experienced compulsory heterosexuality: she mistakes the deep friendship she has with Andy as romance and, indeed, her true love, because he's the guy she feels strongest for and, since she's informed by society that as a woman she has to be attracted to men, she interpreted those feelings as romantic. Likewise, with Bane it was the danger that was appealing to her, the sense that she's both drawn to and repulsed by him because he's dangerous and that's exciting and falling for someone is supposed to be exciting.
Also, when she was "Manny" she blatantly checked out a woman at P3, and of course a different body wouldn't determine sexual orientation, unless you want to get into a whole slew of homophobia and transphobia.
Her relationships with men, too, were always interesting in regard to the dynamics, as Prue had the least traditional interactions with men. In the beginning of the show she sleeps with Andy and then leaves in the night while he's asleep, which is something that is almost always seen in media as the man doing instead of the woman, and how she essentially Clark Kents Andy throughout the first season. Not to mention how she never seemed satisfied with any guy or really interested in anything long-term despite the lip service she paid otherwise? She was constantly flitting from date to date without settling for anything and expressed zero passion for Jack even when she was dating him, for example.
Also, lesbians always die and so did Prue, so there's that.
Also, Esmerelda, I love your headcanon that Chris is Prue's reincarnation because it feels so fitting!

I did get that sense with Chris. But he could well have been bi. Of course, they wouldn't do this in that decade when Charmed aired. The WB got so much hate when they made Willow on Buffy come out a lesbian, it wasn't until Buffy moved to UPN, that they started showcasing more I believe.
After what Buffy did, I very much doubt they'd have done the same with Charmed with either Phoebe or Chris. But perhaps if the Charmed Sons/Next Generation spin-off did come to pass in 2006 or 2007, maybe The CW would try it again with one of the children.

Just spot this and I'm shocked how close I came to predicting properly how the reboot would handle a gay sister and that their names would start with "M" rather than "P". If only they had been Warrens whose Melinda Warren had married someone Hispanic...it would've been easier to accept the show as Charmed if they'd just done something like that...

I think the character of Chris could be bisexual.
Or otherwise I get a queer-like vibe from Drew most recently in the podcast. Like he could be straight and a bit more feminine I guess.
