I don't think it's a bad thing that she wanted something that wasn't exactly attainable at that part of her life, we all do it, from wanting to own a house and wanting to have a family, just using these as examples. I completely understand that at the beginning of her witchcraft days that she was lost within who she was and that realization that she was lied to by the one person she thought she could trust and at end of the series, how many times can each of them scarifice their lives for the greater good and not receive anything from it, which is why I believe the Elders should have allowed the sisters to use personal gain spells as a form of payment. They have to save the world almost everyday, they also have to make sure that magic doesn't get exposed in the process, also having to "keep up appearances" and make sure they don't die so that they can continue on with it for God-knows how long, is pressure that we would never know. I think that's the problem that she was having, they did everything for the greater good and got nothing in return. It's like us going to work all day, everyday, and not getting paid, that is what that is. I agree. I just wish she hadn't been written to constantly complain. Maybe she could have never really clicked with magic and started to seriously want out around season 6, for instance, instead of 2 or maybe 1. As obnoxious as Piper is sometimes about this subject, I understand at the core what her feelings are. It just got old, no matter how legitimate her reasons for wanting out were. It would be like if Phoebe had focused entirely on becoming a mom starting in season 3 or something. The storyline wasn't enjoyable for me at any point, but at least it didn't take up most of her screen time like Piper's issues did.

I completely agree that Piper should have been written definitely and that her complaints against magic got old.
