In Cat House, Phoebe was telling Paige "before Dan - two bankers, a rock climber and a ghost way before Dan" that Piper was engaged to a warlock. Of course, this can only mean Jeremy. But I didn't think this was explicitly stated in the pilot episode Something Wicca This Way Come. They just didn't seem that close as a couple, at least not as close as you expect for two people who are engaged.
And you would think in the next episode that we would see Piper being devastated that Jeremy was an supernatural evil being but this was never addressed.
So how close you think Piper and Jeremy really were?

I don't think those two were engaged, that would of been something Brad Kern didn't fact check properly and it was Prue who was engaged to Roger but she called off the wedding just before the first episode and not Piper. They never brought that up in the first episode, then again that was a script Constance M. Burge wrote, and Brad Kern had no involvement in. Piper and Jeremy first meet when Grams was first taken to hospital. They got closer I suppose during the period Phoebe was in New York and 6 months after which Grams died. But they were definitely not engaged.

I think your right Craig. I don't think Piper was engaged to Jeremy. That is definitely something Brad Kern wrote wrong, and your right he didn't write the first episode to have remembered that.
But didn't Phoebe find a pregnancy test and thought Piper was pregnant with Jeremy's child in "The Wedding from Hell". So they must of been pretty serious for her to think that.
Now I think Jeremy might have gotten close to his victims before he eventually killed them. Serena the first victim killed in the first episode, seemed to know who he was before he killed her. So he may have been involved with several of his victims.

Although obviously Jeremy and Piper had sex since she thought she might be pregnant, the word "engaged" never comes up in "Wedding From Hell", so, no, I don't think they were ever engaged. Had she been pregnant and had she found out before they found out what Jeremy was, then they might've gotten engaged, but as is they didn't.

No. In the pilot, Piper clearly called Jeremy her boyfriend. Wouldn't surprise me that the later seasons forget the events that occurred in earlier seasons. In the same episode, Paige I guess forgot that Phoebe was blonde, when they met, but she's all "shocked" that Phoebe is blonde during their trip in the "Bride and Gloom" event, but I digress. Also, it's the same season that Phoebe tries to retcon that Cole "decided" to be evil, ugh, but I think you get my point. S5 doesn't know what its talking about, when it comes to the events that actually happened.

That was Kern not remembering canon when it was stated in Cat House. But maybe they were in the Power of Three Novel an earlier draft of the pilot episode. But I don't remember that.

No they were not engaged. That's Kern being typical with not remembering canon.
