Piper trying to enter the church in I've Got You Under My Skin- I love this one because it showcases innocent Piper in such a relatable way. Her views on being a witch has more weight, rather than complain how its an inconvenience for her she's scared how being a witch will affect them as people. She has a fear of being evil, and throwing a subplot where she's forced to face her reality about it felt natural to me. Also seeing Piper cheer at the end for opening it and nothing happening was such a nice moment, especially following her seeing their first innocent Britney.
The sisters discussing about themselves being witches after Andy's Death- I LOVE this scene! youtu.be/9aS1jPHGViU?t=183 watching through it again multiple times I love the music that plays in the background and throughout season 1 giving not only the 90's vibe, but the peaceful tone of Season 1 as a whole. But the main reason I love this scene is simply because it feels like I'm watching a conversation between three sisters, Prue's line of "being witches can be a hassle and can screw over our personal lives, but the way we help people offsets the bad things" really stuck with me because it shows how they still treated them being witches as a balance with their normal lives, also you can feel Shannen's acting as Prue is still holding in emotions about Andy's death. Am I the only one who loved Piper's outfit in this scene as well?
I also love the way Phoebe reaches her hand toward Prue in a comforting tone, its moments like this that make me miss the freespirited baby sister Phoebe and not the self centered Kern/Alyssa version. And of course how could we forget the iconic door closing scene?
The sisters and Darryl mourning Andy's death- While Andy's character could've been handled better I think this death is the second best after Prue's because unlike later the girls take an actual death into consideration and Prue's reaction to him dying was a strong moment for her because it allowed her to showcase emotion, as opposed to holding them back like normal. Andy was also the first REAL loss after just finding out they were witches. Having Darryl with them at the funeral was a nice touch considering how often Darryl is forgotten.
Piper and Mark in Dead Man Dating- I mean how can anyone mention Season 1 and not mention Piper and Mark? Their chemistry was great, Piper is at her best in this one episode than any moment in the show and how she goes to bond with Mark is something I could watch forever. Also Phoebe and Prue comforting Piper as Mark disappears away at the ending.
The Amazing Phoebe in Dead Man Dating- This scene easily peaked freespirited Phoebe's persona. She's very funny and outgoing in this scene, just seeing her effort to try and do something for Prue's birthday was a delight to see and made me really love Phoebe as a character.
Piper sitting on the kitchen floor in Is there a Woogey in the House?- I LOVE seeing innocent Piper getting flustered because her cooking wasn't going as planned, the way she sits on the floor and kicks her feet was such a funny moment and is helped by Piper's then peaceful nature. I also enjoyed her sarcasm throughout the episode.
Phoebe reminiscing over Patty in that 70's episode- This showcases the side of Phoebe as the baby sister, the less experience, always wanting things Piper and Prue got to experience more over her.
Phoebe meeting Patty outside of Buddy's Diner in That 70's episode- Considering how much their mother's death meant seeing Phoebe get to play out meeting her mother is such a heartwarming scene. And having her saying goodbye in the end despite her efforts to keep her meeting Patty a memory showcased maturity on her part. To top it off I love the ending scene of Phoebe admiring the picture of her still a fetus in Patty with little Prue and little Piper.
All the sisters saying goodbye in that 70's episode- Remember when this show focused on family? Well this scene encapsulates that perfectly. Seeing Grams trying to test them out as the Charmed Ones, seeing them talk with Patty. Grams and Patty hesitantly saying the spell that sends them back to the present as they talk about how "beautiful" the girls turned out.
Prue saying "I love you" to both Phoebe and Piper in From Fear to Eternity- It easily peaked Prue's character development and from then on starts to become more open. She also becomes a much more relatable character too and its really when I started loving Prue as a character.
Piper, Phoebe and Prue burning the relinqushing spell at the end of Wicca Envy- I loved seeing how much they wanted being witches. Them burning the spell that rids their powers was a perfect way for them to come to acceptance of themselves and their powers. It easily showcases how different the sisters were back then. Its also a nice bonding scene as well.
The sisters discuss about losing their powers to Rex and Hannah in Wicca Envy- This scene is definitive proof over how different the sisters are earlier vs later seasons, its the scene you show to people how different the girls were when discussions about how selfish they are arise, this is the scene I use as poof to show how they felt like the heroes earlier in the show. In this scene alone they are worried about losing their powers, not in a way that affects them or relates to them, but because they won't be able to save innocents anymore. EVEN PIPER IS UPSET ABOUT THIS, YES PIPER think about that for a minute!
In the later seasons all they would've done was complain how hard this is and how their powers are a burden to their normal lives, here they are worried about the consequences of evil winning and how they could've saved innocent people. Prue's guilt over being tricked and Phoebe trying to find loopholes around beating Rex and Hannah. Especially Phoebe's resistances in not wanting to say the spell when they have to cast it, just the look of reslliance on Phoebe's face as she's forced to say it is another sign of how great she was back then.
Phoebe comforting Piper about her sweet nature in I've Got You Under My Skin- I loved this considering Phoebe is the one to open up Piper's confidence and tells Piper about how she's the heart of the halliwell family, which was believable back then. I also love her camera pose after she comforts Piper.
The sisters using the power of three to vanquish Javna in I've Got You Under My Skin- This may be because of the location at the time, but I loved the power of three in this scene, its by far the best use of it in the entire show. And the way Javna explodes into dust in the end really gave me a creepy Buffy like vibe. I think the room they were in added to the atmosphere. youtu.be/APioF9ro_4I?t=76
Piper and Leo in Love Hurts- Easily the best Piper/Leo scene in the whole show. It shows how different they were as a couple compared to later on. Piper genuinely cares for Leo and you could see the romance between them. Especially with how hard Piper struggles to save him by swapping their powers. I loved that scene where they are sitting down together, Piper is laying her head on his torso and they discuss a little about his past, I could actually by this couple and they were so great back then.
The sisters watching the Christmas tape of them in Thank You for Not Morphing- Seeing the girls sitting down watching TV is strangely entertaining and another instance of the show being about family before it lost the element.
Prue's bond with Max and deciding she wants to me a mother after all in Secrets and Guys- I loved Prue's bond with Max and how she spent the whole episode as a guardian surrogate for him, especially during that scene where Max's father gets shot and it makes me wonder if Prue had been a mother what she would be like.
My own special choice (I know this doesn't relate, but for some reason I wanted to include)
Prue using telekinesis on The Guardian of the Urn in Feats of Clay- This may seem strange, but this scene always makes me chuckle because of how the power is used. I just love the way Prue tries to use telekinesis on it only for it to shrug the move off with an amused expression. It also helps that I loved the sound effect for her powers, I kinda miss the squinting she did even if I prefer her using her hands. youtu.be/Q-xneh0h49s?t=158
There's a common theme with a lot of the innocent plots in Seasons 1-3. What I love the most about the first three seasons is that every episode had its own story. How they find the demon, how they come up with a plan to banish it. Even the innocents have their well-deserved attention. However later seasons, and especially the reboot are rushing: new powers, spells, potions, hybrids, Elders, necromancers, upper level demons... everything appears already in the 1st season without a good story. It's like eating your seven-course meal all at once from the same plate..
But, these are about seventeen moments, and not what the thread rules have asked in having them ranked in a top 10, with the rest as Honorable Mentions. I'd love to see you rank the moments.
