I always see love for this season (which is deserved), but is the 2nd season a fan favorite?

I think it is for older fans who like the two earlier seasons more than the rest (I'm in that category and I know that Granny Charmed is - not sure about anyone else), but if you mean *most* favorite, I don't think so - I think for most of them who like the two earlier seasons most, Season One tends to be the favorite.
Actually my own favorite "season" is from 1.17: "That Seventies Episode" to 2.16: "Murphy's Luck". It includes some episodes that aren't favorites, but it is the only time when I like all three sisters - I don't like Prue before it and I don't like Piper after it.
But that's me. I know that thanks to my age (I'm 64), I'm in the minority when it comes to most Charmed opinions, so if others want to express their opinion, go for it!

It's always hard to say which seasons are my favorites, because I like the first four for different reasons. I saw half of season 3 first, so that one always feels the most nostalgic. I love season 4, even though I don't like what happens in the latter half.
I really, really love season 1. I enjoyed rewatching that season more than I thought I would. I loved season 2 as well, but I wasn't as drawn into it as I was season 1. Both season 1 and season 3 for me feel like they really hit the mark in terms of what they wanted the show to be like. Season 2 sort of feels like they were trying for something and just didn't quite get there.
That said, even though season 2 isn't my favorite of all the seasons, I'll always rewatch it and enjoy it. I'd pick it over any season in 5-8.

I actually feel like S2 gets a lot of dislike, in general, with Charmed fans. If nothing else, because of the LPD triangle and Jenny.
And, really, I just thought that Es and I were the only "S2 is my favorite" fans.

I do admit I prefer the older seasons more than the newer ones i.e. when the sisters were sisters, innocents meant something and men weren't everything.

I love Season 2, and while I'm not a fan of Dan or Jenny, I find that I love a lot of the episodes in that season. Morality Bites, Chick Flick, How to Make a Quilt Out of Americans, That Old Black Magic, P3 H2O, Awakened, Pardon My Past... seriously, I could list the majority of the season. It had that comedic factor while staying true to the sisterhood/Power of Three witches vibe.

I think season 2 is a really fun season. I think it has so much hate because of the Leo, Piper and Dan story. But when you look at the season as a whole, nothing that bad is really in it, except a couple of bad episodes. All of the sisters are likeable, and I feel it has a great balance between the sisters relationship, personal lives and the threats they face each episode.
Maybe it doesn't get much love or appreciation because, most fans talk more about the controversial seasons, and season 2 really doesn't have a main storyline and it feels like the most stable season out of the entire series. All the sisters seem at their best in this one, without too much conflict apart from Piper's decision between Dan and Leo.

Season 2 was definitely one of my favorites. The girls had just started appreciating their calling, except maybe piper who was still on the fence a lot depending on how bad situations got.
But this is when prue loved to nominate herself all the time to have new spells tried out on her that needed to be cast on someone , and phoebe was never afraid to cast spells for her personal use, always trying to word them to be personal gain free. Which often didn't work. And piper was the full on middle sister, always afraid to leave prue and phoebe alone and always trying to keep them from going at it. As well as being the only one having major relationship issues.

Maybe it was a good thing they didn't have a big season arc storyline. Maybe this proves Charmed just isn't that great at those, because all the long arc storylines are always seem in a negative light by some fans. I think I enjoyed all the different episodes each week changing from light to dark ones. We did have one connecting storyline with Dr. Williamson. What made that one fun, was it wasn't a demon or warlock. It was just the sisters dealing with real world problems, and a little bit of consequences with magic.

I think it's a mixed bag. Character wise it was probably the best season as the sisterly bond was very strong. It was certainly the best season for Prue, who was likeable from the beginning (unlike S1), Phoebe was the same fun character from s1 and even though Piper declined, she was still okay.
Storywise things were quite different. The season started strong and episodes like "Morality Bites" and P3 H2O" are as good as Charmed gets but somewhere in the middle of the season, it became clear that the show was stuck in a place and really needed to move on.

Oh man its so hard to choose favourites. But I think that out of the Prue seasons, season 2 is the best. It had so many episodes that were just fun to watch (Chick Flick, Pardon My Past, Ms. Hellfire, etc) And I love that they're finally settling into their new lives as witches more- and as sisters again post Phoebe returning. And while I don't particularly enjoy the whole Dan/Piper thing, I don't think it takes away from the season enough to ruin it. Rewatching this season always makes me happy on sick days (I will never watch season 8 on sick days).

Season 2 was the most relaxing.
But I think season 1 had more edge. I love origin stories

It was still Connie's Charmed.

Probably for a certain segment of the fanbase that favour smooth-sailing characterization over controversy and serious, polarizing plot-points. Wasn't this the season that Holly referred to when she said that she and Shannen felt like they were in rut--doing the same episodes over and over again? I think that's quite telling. I think Shannen also wanted out of the show by the end of this season, too.

When I met Rose McGowan the first thing she said was 'you're so young' lol. I've always been interested in the show and had my mum tape 'A Witch's Tail' to VHS when I was still quite young; I believe that aired in 2002, so only 4! Decided to finally buy the DVD's and watch the show in 2012... been a die hard ever since.

However I'd disagree with this; my preference of the earlier seasons has more to do with a) Prue being involved and b) the way the sisters were written. I still really enjoy S3 and 4.

Then again dear, you may have felt differently if you watched the series when it originally aired back in the late 90s/early 00s. If you were older enough as a teen who were the target audience.

I do believe it is a fan favorite (not me, but other Charmed fans). I do understand the opinions of others in expressing enjoying the sisterly dynamic (which I do agree with), but I can't help my distaste towards the Dan Gordon character. I'm being generous, when I say if we had to have had Dan around, I would've preferred if he dated Phoebe, instead. I think there was a lot of potential there, that didn't see the light of day. Instead, they decided to pair the guy with somebody who he has ZERO capabilities with.
