I thought it might be fun for us Harry Potter fans to have a go at Sorting the Charmed characters into their Hogwarts and Ilvermorny Houses.
Here are my thoughts:
Prue Halliwell
Hogwarts House: Slytherin
Prue is the best kind of Slytherin: one who is both highly ambitious, shrewd but also fiercely protective over her family above all others. Prue was originally the most rigid sister and was classically Slytherin in her propensity to shield her emotions from others. She represented Slytherin's icy stereotype and its elemental association, Water (her past life's power was water/moisture-based).
Nevertheless, she did warm up and, like most Slytherins, once she sets her mind to something, she is damn sure going to achieve it. She was very much an over-achiever and was comfortable in powerful, leadership roles (from Head Cheerleader to Super Witch).
Prue's other great Slytherin trait was her shrewdness. She did not trust people easily and made them work for her approval, unlike Piper and Phoebe who were more susceptible to being tricked. Interestingly, Ravenclaws and Slytherins match each other in their canniness and both Prue and Paige were greatly alike in this respect, especially concerning Cole. Also, like Gryffindors, Slytherins can excel in sports and physical activity, which Prue and Phoebe share a talent in.
Ilvermorny House: Wampus
Wampus is said to represent 'the Body' of a witch and natural-born warriors. Prue valued mental and physical strength the most of the sisters, and had a highly adaptable nature when it came to battle (good strategist, intelligent, shrewd, ambitious, stealthy, emotional-controlled). This made her highly resilient and the greatest 'warrior' of the sisters, one could argue.

Piper Halliwell
Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
When the show began, Piper was a kind, humble and shy person who valued home and hearth above all else. She was the most comfortable with her 'normal life' and never wished to be magical at all. Her talents as a chef, specifically, prove her to be the quintessential Hufflepuff, who enjoys nothing more than nurturing and nourishing those nearest and dearest to her.
When Prue died, however, Piper became more of stubborn and quick-tempered. This was mainly because she was ill-suited to battle, and so her natural Hufflepuff default setting to worry and panic did not lend itself well to a leadership role. Hufflepuffs do not particularly enjoy change, but take comfort in the routine and the status quo. The constant perils of being a demon-hunter simply did not bode well for Piper's anxious mind.
Nevertheless, she remained fundamentally good-natured and enjoyed being the family's natural mediator and carer. Hufflepuffs are said to represent the Earth and are fiercely loyal and tremendously hard-working. These qualities are demonstrated by Piper throughout the series, particularly her success with P3 and her restaurant. She is also the first to marry and have children, and proves time after time her her dedication to Leo, her sisters and her children. Leo even appoints her as 'Mother Nature' when the sisters become Goddesses.
Ilvermorny House: Pukwudgie: Piper is the only sister who never moves out of the Manor and so, in that sense, the major plots and action centre around her and her family unit. Patty even referred to her as 'the Heart' of the family in Season Three before her wedding, which is what Pukwudgies are supposed to personify, much like Hufflepuffs. Also, the Pukwudgie can be feisty and mischievous when it wants, which represents Piper's more outspoken, sarcastic side and her explosion power.

Phoebe Halliwell
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor
Brave, confident and driven by her emotions, Phoebe seems like a Gryffindor through and through to me. Gryffindors are adventurous, protective over their own kin and also have streak of rebellion in them. Phoebe was the most difficult child for Grams to raise and, even as an adult, she routinely questions rules and accepted authority: sometimes for good, sometimes for ill.
Nevertheless, Phoebe is one of the kindest sisters and, much like her Hufflepuff sister, Piper, is fiercely protective of others, even when it is to her own detriment. As was the case with Cole, Phoebe does not make decisions lightly and, all through the series, she is a typical Gryffindor in so far that she is constantly questioning herself and what is 'right'. Gryffindors pride themselves on taking the more difficult to walk 'high road'.
Gryffindors tend to clash with Slytherins despite possessing similar traits, especially their forthrightness, occasional big egos and potential for duplicitous behaviour. This is very much the case with Phoebe and Prue. They are two sides of the same coin in many ways, yet Phoebe, in my eyes, is the 'Fire' (The element associated with Gryffindor) of the sisterhood, whereas Prue is the 'ice'. I mean, this was literally the case in their past lives!
Gryffindors are also often physical adept and the most sexual of the Houses, which Phoebe definitely is.
Ilvermorny House: Thunderbird
Thunderbirds are meant to be adventure-seekers, which is most accurate for Phoebe. Had she not been a witch and been duty-bound to her sisters, I imagine she would've left home again soon after returning from NYC, escaping from Prue's watchful eye. Thunderbirds, much like Gryffindors, are very much soul-searchers and Phoebe, in many ways, is the most complex sister and her psychic powers suggests a union of the mind (premonition, levitation) and the heart (empathy) and suggest that she represents 'the Soul' in the foursome.
Paige Matthews
Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw
Ravenclaws are clever, quick-witted and insightful by nature, which describes Paige's personality and life experiences very well. She was an only child whose parents died when she was a teenager, yet she still carved out a successful career for herself. Thus, she is not just book smart, but streetwise too and has the most varied life experience of the four sisters. Paige is also very creative and has a broad range of interests, with an often quirky approach to magic.
Interestingly, the BoS' description of Paige's past life, the Evil Enchantress, supports this as well: defiant, clever and independent. Paige can be very independently-minded and, like many Ravenclaws, can seem detached and a bit of an outsider in the close-knit Halliwell clan. Her outsider status is often a positive attribute throughout the series, however. Her childhood spent outside the family and her whitelighter side give her a greater worldview. Her orbing powers are also symbolic of the Ravenclaw element, Air.
It should also be pointed out that Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs sometimes clash because the former has a more 'lofty' approach to magic, whilst the latter is very straightforward and sticks to tried and true methods. This is literally Paige and Piper on so many occasions.
Ilvermorny House: Horned Serpent
Paige has the most enquiring mind of the four sisters and, after self-teaching herself as much about magic as possible in Season 5, she quickly progresses to becoming the Headmistress of Magic School. This is an interesting parallel with the founder of Ilvermorny, Isolt Sayre, who introduced magical education to the European settlers of North America. Incidentally, Isolt also created the Horned Serpent House. Although Paige grows weary of being the Headmistress of Magic School, she is a guide and teacher by nature, but just prefers being out on the frontline as a Whitelighter, rather than being stuck in a classroom. Paige is always hungry to feed her curiosity, which is why she most accurately represents 'the Mind' out of the four sisters and is, therefore, a Horned Serpent.
