It seemed that Richard used magic for personal gain a lot. Not being evil why was he not subject to consequences?

Because once Kern took over, there was no longer any consequences to using magic for personal gain. The sisters did it all the time and never had a backlash unless the script demanded it. The script never demanded it for Richard.

They even had problems writing men with powers. I hated that Richard had to give away his powers because of bananas reasons!

Many inconsistencies with writing personal gain. Really it was done just to fit whatever story they wanted to tell. The same can be said for other characters like Chris in S6, who killed a Valkyrie with no real consequences.

This was obviously all part of Kern's belief that the ends justify the means rather than the wrong thing done for the right reason is still the wrong thing, the biggest difference between S1-2 (Connie's seasons) and 3-8 (Kern's seasons).

Paige seemed broken up about it but I believe it was more because if she kept dating him he’d still be around magic all the time and still tempted to try and use it. Even though he can’t. But Paige should have giving him another chance in their Relationship to see how he fared as a mortal. |

Since Paige was supposed to be both an ex-assistant social worker *and* an alcoholic, I thought she should've been a lot more sympathetic and a lot more helpful.
