Rewatching this episode right now and as on screen I am watching Cole invite the Wizard to take his powers from him I am wondering how the series could have gone in a wilder area if this transfer had been successful. What if Cole had become human again? What if instead of dealing with evil forces, the Piper and Paige also had to deal with Evil Phoebe constantly coming after Piper's kids? What if Phoebe and her little Chucky had become the center of the show instead of Wyatt and Chris? We would have had vastly alternate outcomes all around....

If Cole was human again then I can't imagine why he would still be masquerading as the Source -- the only thing keeping him tethered to iniquity was a coalescence of the Source's spirit into the void of Cole's soul that had once been occupied by Belthazor. Once you take away that spirit then all that's left is the man who, while albeit difficult to deal with sometimes, was still very much human. Chances are, Cole would hope to persuade Phoebe into leaving with him and returning to the manor (Cole was the only motivation for Phoebe turning her back on her sisters). What they do from there will be contingent on how they handle the corrupted baby inside Phoebe and their preparations for a retaliatory move by the Seer. Plus, possessed or not, I don't think the sisters would be all too thrilled about accepting the man who's vessel was being exploited for malicious deeds over the past few months. It would take some mediating and clarification from Phoebe as to what was going on behind the scenes before the sisters wearily welcome Cole back into their group, in my opinion.

I would've loved for the Wizard to become the new Source and just let Cole be Cole.
