Okay so this is for all you Prue-fans out there and is inspired by the scene in Lion King where Mufasa appears to Simba. This one-shot is set when Phoebe is crying in the bathroom in Long Live the Queen but before Piper, Paige and Leo orb in.
Phoebe didn’t know what to do. She loved Cole with all her heart but she also loved her sisters more than anything. She looked at the two letters she had written, one saying goodbye to Cole and the other saying goodbye to her sisters. Tears ran down her cheeks as indecision filled her heart. She couldn’t let Cole kill her sisters…but if she didn’t, they would try and vanquish Cole, which would fail without the Power of Three.
“Phoebe,” A soft familiar voice resonated the air and Phoebe’s heart clenched. She knew that voice and turned towards it.
“Phoebe, you’ve forgotten me so soon,” The voice spoke again, Prue appearing in solid form much like Patty had at Piper’s wedding.
Phoebe’s eyes widened and she started crying into her hands. “No. No I could never forget you Prue.”
“You’ve forgotten who you are,” Prue said again. “What you stand for. By forgetting yourself, you’ve forgotten me.”
Phoebe turned away from Prue. “How are you even here?”
“I’ve always been watching over you, Phoebe,” Prue said softly. “I saw everything that happened and I had to come down to you. How can you do this Phoebe? Piper’s already lost me and now she’s losing you too.”
“I don’t want to lose Piper, Prue,” Phoebe said, the tears still falling. “But being with her and Paige means vanquishing Cole. I’m pregnant, Prue. Do you really expect me to vanquish the father of my child?”
Prue stayed silent for awhile before moving closer and pulling Phoebe into a hug, gently stroking her hair as her baby sister cried. “I know this is hard for you sweetie. But remember who you are. Protector of the innocent, a Charmed One, you’re a paragon of good, not evil. Remember that.” She clicked her fingers and suddenly their surroundings changed to where Phoebe was willing to be executed because she had used her powers in the wrong way.
“Our job is to protect the innocent,” Alternate-Phoebe said crying. “Not punish the guilty. I crossed that line and now I have to accept the consequences. I don’t want to die. But I don’t want you guys to die because of me. This is why this has to happen. Why you have to let it happen.”
“You were willing to die because you had crossed a forbidden line,” Prue reminded her sister. “This is who you are, Phoebe. This is who you’ve always been. Don’t forget that now.” They returned to the present time and Phoebe pulled away, wiping her tears.
“You’re right,” Phoebe said shakily. “I have to protect my sisters. Cole’s been overtaken by the Source…I guess I really wasn’t enough in the end.”
Prue kissed her forehead. “You did your best sweetie. Now it’s time to move on. I’m always watching over you.”
Phoebe managed a small sad smile. “Thanks. Sorry I screwed up again.”
“You love him,” Prue reminded her. “Love is blind and you wanted to hope for the best. Now it’s time to make the right decision…as protector of the innocent.” She hugged Phoebe once more before backing away and fading into the light.
“Thank you Prue,” Phoebe breathed out.
