Since Esmeralda told me to keep rambling I shall do so. I started watching Season 1 back when I was only 8 years old and loved it so much. Piper was my favourite although I loved all 3 sisters. But I never understood Piper/Leo. Phoebe/Leo would have made a lot more sense. Phoebe loved magic the most out of the three sisters and she didn't really desire a normal life which she wouldn't get with Leo. She would have gotten a completely magical life one where she'd still protect the innocent and Leo could still do his job properly. Piper on the other hand desired a normal life, a life away from magic, something she could never get with Leo no matter how much she loved him. I know people are going to say yes Dan could give her a normal life but he wouldn't accept her being a witch. I don't think so. Remember the episode with Phoebe's past life? Piper and Dan were married so apparently he did accept her so I don't know why they had it that way. Plus Dan was such a sweet guy. He respected her, he was nice to her sisters and he stood by her when she nearly died in Awakened.

All of this...you are so absolutely right.
Piper was never my favorite and the way she treated Leo had a lot to do with it. Phoebe with Leo would've made *so* much more sense!
Although I'll always wonder if Dan could've handled magic...if his and Piper's love story had been more like Paige and Henry's - if Dan could've found out about Piper's secret by finding out the good magic can do, not the evil like what happened in the season finale, that would've made the whole thing perfect!

I think Dan would have been able to handle magic had Piper trusted him enough to tell him. Piper treated Leo that way because she wanted a normal life which she should have known Leo couldn't give her. This is why in my canon, Wyatt is the son of Phoebe and Leo and Chris is Piper and Dan's son.

Unfortunately Piper never loved Dan; she just wanted to use him to have her normal life and probably to make Leo jealous. I *HATED* the way she used Dan! She truly didn't deserve someone as wonderful as him...or as Leo. Piper with Roger! Now THAT would've been perfect! She'd have her normal life and they could keep putting each other down and be very, very happy together. |

I didn't like how she used Dan either myself but I still love the couple. I felt it would have been interesting if Phoebe's spell lead her to choosing Dan. I should write that as a story

I wasnt big on Dan, but thats because I wasnt big on those first couple of seasons. I do agree with you about Phoebe and Leo though. They could have been an entertaining couple. And Cole could easily have dated Paige. I saw an interview with Rose saying that the producers were toying with the idea of having Cole date Paige but it just never happened |

I prefer the first three seasons. I don't mind season 4 either though the first two are always my favourites. I also liked the idea of Piper and Andy in season 1. Sorry Prue.

Actually Kern toyed with the idea of Phoebe, Cole (influenced by the Source) and Paige as a triangle - one that might have started as Phoebe, Cole and Prue. But all the actresses put their foot down and said NO WAY!
I would've liked to have seen the half-angel with the half-demon...but I would've preferred seeing him with Prue! Even Piper! Even with LEO! ANYONE but Phoebe! I HATED their storyline ruining my favorite sister!

Me too, I always wondered the same Es. I really think things would have been better if Dan had discovered much earlier about magic. I think Dan would have been able to handle magic had Piper trusted him enough to tell him. I have this feeling if Piper had trusted Dan more, and had been like Paige with how she was with Henry, He might have handled it well. Piper told Dan once they were broken up, so of course, I didn't expect it to go down well. |

Piper should have used the Same spell prue used on Andy and given him at least a week to handle the truth. Andy’s reaction was the same an Dan’s but Andy eased into it.

You're probably right. If Piper picked Dan she would get that normal life she desperately craved. Obviously, the writers went for what gives them the most drama and picking Leo and the forbidden love they liked better for stories, didn't mean it worked in the long run.
Too bad, because seeing a non-magical human being involved with a witch, could create all sorts of stories down the line. Seeing them react and handle magic, and being in love with a witch is a long-term story I wished we saw carry in the series long-term. It would make the show feel grounded, and Dan or the non-magical would represent the viewers. We had Darryl but he was never that major a character, that it being a love interest would have added more to the series.
We only got that in two seasons with Andy and Henry. Henry is the only character to find out and marry a sister.

And he did come off better than Leo at times in season 2 when Leo was all about their latest magical issue and Dan was all about a normal life. But I just can't help but see Dan in his jealous state, how he seemed paranoid that Leo was trying things behind his back. It turned out he did have a reason for it, but that irritated suspicion of his will always make me see Dan as someone who wasn't really an option. It painted him as the kind of guy who would be suspicious of Piper's male friends or coworkers, and I just didn't like it. But Piper should totally have ended up with a nonmagical guy. The drama of her wish for a normal life put up against the love of her life being magical lost its appeal to the utter misery that made up most of their marriage pretty quickly. |

Piper wasn't entirely honest with Dan though. Also, Dan became this way once Piper said Leo's name in Awakened. Any guy would be suspicious in that case. Dan was right by Piper's side. Leo didn't even agree to heal her at first. Not bashing Leo of course but I don't feel like he always appreciated Piper.
