I have seen a lot of people on here say that Kern didnt know what he was doing with the Chris character.
I contend that the producers knew all along what they were doing with Chris. Theres two reasons for this.
1) Back then, most television shows recorded all their episodes for any particular season before the season started. So, by the time the Titans episode happened, the Chris story had already happened behind the scenes. And yea....I know that he technically came in season 5, but still.
2) In the titan episode, theres a scene where Leo and Chris discover the dead elders in Heaven. So they have an intense talk in which Chris informs Leo that he must inject the sisters with the powers of the Gods to save humanity. When Chris said this, he said Leo must do this for humanity....for the sisters....for his family.....and for his son. The way he emphasized the word son in that scene was definelty meant to be a clue as to who Chris was. The scene starts at around 35:45 on the Netflix episode in case you want to see what I mean
So yeah. I dont buy that the producers didnt know what to do with Chris during the season. It just doesnt make sense

I didn't think they planned it as it was. Chris acted differently and almost evil compared to once Holly was confirmed pregnant in Sword and the City. I didn't understand why he was suddenly absent in such an important episode?
But I don't believe they plan everything out that far in advance. Many factors came into play, both Leo's possible exit, didn't the actor almost not sign on? If that were the case, then Chris wouldn't have been the second son of Piper and Leo's, and Chris would have been the big bad or evil.
Chris felt so different in the first 6 episodes of season 6 to the rest of the season.

Yup, Brian Krause came close to not signing his contract, the way Holly did at the end of Season Four - Shannen talked her into staying. I wish she hadn't.
Had Krause not, 'Oh, My Goddess!' would've been the last time we saw Leo except in flashbacks (don't I wish...) so unless Piper was already pregnant - and there was nothing to indicate that during the 8 episodes that Fuller would've been part of had Krause not signed - Chris would not have been his. He was only supposed to be someone from the future - hence why he told Piper there was no such thing as family in the future. Back then, that would've been the truth, like Paige dying during the Titan attack and unable to give Chris money in the future.
Now that just sounds like one of his many, many lies, saying what would hurt Piper the most, the reason why I never trusted him, because he never admitted to the lies or apologized for them. All part of why S6 is my least-favorite season, but so is the change in the sisters from potential whitelighters to potential darklighters
But I've come to understand that that was actually due to horribly inconsistent writing and Kern doing nothing to explain why it was inconsistent. That was left to fanfic writers.

That was left to fanfic writers. You dont like Leo? Really? I didnt think anyone disliked Leo lol Anyway, even if Krause were gone, Chris still would have been written in as his or Paige's son. That was pretty much his only option. He couldnt have turned out to be evil because he had too many good powers. I mean he could orb. Plus he had Prue's power to throw people across the room by waving his arm at them. Why would the writers give him Prue's powers if they were going to make him evil? On that same note, the part whitelighter, part witch thing also leaves him few other options. Add in the age factor and it becomes clear that there can't be any other option for Chris except to be one of the sister's sons. I mean, what else is he gonna be? Some wise sage/elder from the future? At the age of 22? Not likely

The scene starts at around 35:45 on the Netflix episode in case you want to see what I mean So yeah. I dont buy that the producers didnt know what to do with Chris during the season. It just doesnt make sense For the two statements above:
1) I think you are incorrect about filming, if I understand what you are saying.Oh My Goddess would have filmed at the beginning of 2003 aired Mid 2003? and Valhalla would have beed mid 2003, airing in October 2003? So Brad Kern bought Drew Fuller in all well intentioned to bring in a new character but I don't think he 100% knew that he would be Chris. In fact, HMC told Kern (with Alyssa I believe) that she was pregnant before the shooting of Season 6 but by that time, they would have written up to about Chris Crossed at the very most. And I believe that Brad intended for Chris to be Wyatt (obviously, played out differently) but used HMC's pregnancy as an reason for a 2nd child, while also choosing not to hide HMC's pregnancy... or in his mind... hurting the ratings, by slutting out Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan over the course of both Season 5 and 6 when HMC was acting or actually pregnant in both. I remember Kern's words were "that you are a Season too late" and she replied 'no!, you are a Season too early"! I think Kern changed the storyline to fit in with HMC's pregnancy. 2)
Oh My Goddess just doesn't make sense charmedjosh!Chris came back (with shorter hair and a different outfit, I might ad) from Chris Crossed to Oh My Goddess Part 1 to a) Save Paige and the PO3 from dying from the Titans attack (which he lied about because we find out that he borrows money off her in the future) or b) Getting Leo out of the way, so he could take over as TCO's Whitelighter so that he could find out who and why Wyatt turned Evil and use the sisters to help vanquish demon after demon to prevent Wyatt from turning Evil. But ultimately, have to break Leo and Piper up, lie about not having healing powers (endangering both his brother and his family, then figure out a way to get his parents to screw so he can be born in time as well as preventing Wyatt turning evil? Who would come from the future with that approach... it just doesn't make sense. Season 6, if Brad Kern intended Chris to originally be the 2nd son from the future, should have mirrored That 70's Episode and Morality Bites in teaching that Chris could not use magic for his own personal gain OR change time. That's why Season 6 lame. TCO's become selfish, slutty, annoying as well as the introduction of Magic School, ripping off Harry Potter, and on top of that a really cruddy storyline.... which is as a entire Season is trumped by the Season 7 episode, 'Imaginary Fiends' where it is actually the teddy bear and the influence of an imaginary friend that turns Wyatt evil and in the same episode, turns him back. I must be missing something here, because I would love to give Season 6 the benefit of the doubt, but the show is truely a railway wreckage by the end of this season.

No, Holly said during a convention that her favorite episode is 'The Sword in the City' because she got to play with the sword and it's when she found out that she was pregnant with her first child.
I also always thought that she found out before Season 6 (I think Kern said so in a Charmed magazine interview, but not positive on that) but that was obviously just spin, just like Fuller saying that Kern told him right away that he was Piper's son. Rewatching those episodes, I simply don't believe it since he did nothing to make me think he was when if it was true and if he was a good actor, he would've done little pieces of business to show otherwise.
Between Kern and Holly, I'll believe Holly, just like between Shannen, Kern, Spelling and Holly, I'll believe Holly. It's why I'll continue to believe that Shannen was fired and didn't quit.

So I found proof of my theory. In the link to the Charmed convention I post, Drew himself states that he knew he would be Piper and Leo's son after 2 episodes. That would be after the Titans episode since that was actually 2 episodes. Here's the link. He gets asked about this at around 20:00 and then responds youtu.be/vbbiMy8ieHo

According to the "Book of Three Pt.2", B(rad) K(ern) and Drew's former fansite DFF.com, Drew knew from the start of S6 who he was going to be and the others had to find out like their role. I bet it's not easy to go around and not tell anyone, even behind the scenes, what's your mission is. At the end of S5 that was impossible, though there were some hints - with keeping stuff forever that maybe Chris was more than he pretended to be.

I kind of agree with the OP (not necessarily in already shooting said episodes), but in the Power of Three Blondes episode (which is S6E4) Chris says "in all my life", and Phoebe said "'in all your life?' You've only known us for a few months" is some indication that the writers/producers had planned for him to be related to them, somehow. Only 5 episodes in knowing about Chris.
