Really, this guy was a pariah in every circle that he was once affiliated with. Once the cat was out of the bag, Leo and the Charmed Ones would have probably hunted him to the ends of the Earth. It's possible some mercy might have been shown before Chris was killed, but the moment he plunged that dagger into a family member of the Charmed Ones, all bets were off. If there's one thing that'll galvanise a Charmed One into serious action, it's the endangerment or loss of a loved one. What I'm wondering is if he could have sought refuge somewhere. Given his profession and the nature of his character, I'm not sure if I could see Gideon slumming it with Barbas in the underworld indefinitely. His moral compass might be more lose than most Elders but I don't think he would feel comfortable being forced to meander about dodging the sisters, Leo, and whatever demons come his way while fretting about when Barbas is going to stab him in the back.
You also have to ask if Gideon was determined to widen the scope of hostilities to the sisters and Leo, his own student and former friend; that's the only way he was going to have any chance of protecting himself from attack. I think if he's not shifting around from place to place dodging everyone that's after his head then his best hope might be to use his status and connection to the Elders. Gideon was described as being one of the most powerful Elders in their group. After the incident in Season 6, while they did choose to distance themselves from the "bad apple" of their group, it's not like they were outright deprecatory towards Gideon. I daresay It's possible there could have even been some sympathisers who shared in his concern over the power that Wyatt possessed.
Imagine if Gideon had been able to persuade some of the Elders into aligning with his beliefs. You might be looking at a fractionalised Elderdom going into Season 7 while the Avatars are making their move and Zankou is mobilising the underworld. Imagine the kind of ramifications this would have with whitelighters and their ability to guide young neophytic witches -- their own superiors, leaders, divided and at odds with one another and unable to help. How does that sound?
What is your opinion regarding this hypothetical where Gideon survives?
