Would Prue have been a better and more powerful empath than phoebe had been? Prue at first couldn’t control the powers and inspite of Leo telling prue she wasn’t meant to have it, she still got control of the powers in the end.
For starters it seemed that empathy enhanced her telekinesis more. She also managed to blow up the small tv in the kitchen with her emotions, meaning she was able to somehow now blow things up. Something we only saw Prue do in Morality Bites when they went to the future. Maybe this was meant to be her progression to those powers. Prue did say in this episode that she was a witch who’s powers came from her emotions meaning she was meant to have them.
Prue was also as annoying as phoebe having empathy, but she was way more aggressive about using it and she didn’t care if she annoyed anyone in the process. Phoebe was equally annoying at times.
The only sad thing is we will never know how it would have effected Prue long term. At least we saw her Astral self get a boost. Sort of the beginning of her astral self being its own person. Prue woke up while in astral mode and saw her astral self look back at her with this mischievous grin. Almost like her astral self was happy being separate for that moment. We see the separation the second time in “Just Harried”.
But could Prue sustain the power boost for long? It seems like she just held everything inside for that fighting moment and channeled all the energy into her powers and abilities. Maybe she would have had to let it out eventually if she didn’t send it all into the demon vinceres. Making her astral self carry the emotional baggage of half of the city into the demon.
Did you also notice both Prue, with empathy and piper, with Leo’s powers at one time, both went through a very hard time controlling the thoughts and feelings they were getting. It was initially too much overload for them. But Phoebe never really went through any difficult initial cycle like that. Maybe because phoebe was meant to have it. But even Paige went through a similar initial hard time when hearing the call of the elders for the first time. She got Major major headaches.
Other notable things in “Primose Empath”
1. Phoebe was the one who comes up with the idea for prue to somehow try and channel her emotions back at the demon as a form of a weapon. Something she did a lot later when she became an Empath. Father Thomas ended up being the one who talked to prue about it but phoebe came up with the idea
2. Prue nearly succeeds in using her powers while in astral mode
3. Phoebe gets a huge premonition by just walking into the apartment vinceres was cursed in. No touching.
4. Why couldn’t Leo just heal prues tooth? Why have her go to the dentist?
