At one of her recent outings in Paris, HMC did an interview where she of course talked about the show. I do not speak French so this is the translated version. -She kept a lot of clothes, Excalibur, and two cups of Grams' tea (??) -Favorite episode is the Excalibur episode. -If she could play another sister, it would probably be Paige since she was fun. -There are still a lot of bts secrets that fans dont know and probably shouldn't know. -She's heard about the sexual allegations against Brad Kern and his recent CBS series but she can't really say anything of the sort happened on Charmed since he was not on set that often. -She doesn't have negative feelings towards the reboot, just mixed feelings. Is not a fan of the media using Alyssa/Rose's brief twitter spat to hype the new series. -Doesn't know if she could do a Charmed reunion since it takes a lot of seriousness and she may not have the strength for it. -Wouldn't be against doing a reunion for Entertainment Magazine but they havent been contacted about doing one. -Her and Shannen were like sisters on/off the show, they've had their ups and downs, and usually one of them ends up returning to the other (the two no longer speak) but they (and the other 2) are cordial to one another and professional. Looks like Holly and Shannen are still not speaking and won't anytime soon. I saw a recent comment where Shannen now calls Holly her ex-castmate and not a former colleague or something in regards to the media making dumb rumors up about the ladies in regards to the reboot.
It's so strange how times have changed. In that Shannen and Alyssa were the ones not speaking 20 years ago, and now everyone is fighting and somehow Shannen and Alyssa are cool again.
What's so great about the Excalibur episode? It's one of my least favorites. Holly found out she was pregnant in it, so does she really like it apart from it being a fond memory of her Real Life.
Two cups of Grams tea? Grams tea??? My memory must be bad, I never recall Grams having some type of special tea, or was it herbs for potions on the show and they were really just tea? (Maybe the translation came out wrong from French)

This is part of what irritates me about the show. The actual episode has nothing to do with Holly's personal life. I can see why she'd have her favorite personal memory of that time of her life and how she remembers that it coincided with that particular episode, but that doesn't mean anything for the story. When fans ask her or others' favorite episodes, we're asking on behalf of their characters and what their favorite episode meant for the story overall. Not about some random event in their real lives that took place at the same time as a particular episode. If she had found out she was pregnant at any other time in the show, then the closest episode to it would have been her favorite instead of the Excalibur one. It just has nothing to do with Holly's connection to Piper or who Piper is in the Charmed story.

It just has nothing to do with Holly's connection to Piper or who Piper is in the Charmed story. I agree with everything you said. Plus half the time at these conventions, the actresses don't even remember half the plots of the episodes. I've seen this in videos, so Holly just picks the only one she remembers because of a personal life memory. I wonder what she would say if someone said what are your other favorites. Because I've noticed she mentions ones that have more to do with how she felt behind the scenes, not the character plots and stories. Like hating the Wendigo and All Halliwell's Eve for how she felt behind the scenes with the costumes and makeup. Most of the time, as much as the conventions are great. I find the questions asked are so boring and predictable. I'd go all out with a very direct question regarding certain character aspects and stories, not the boring favorite power, who would you want to have played other than your character, any funny moments on sets. Because it's the same boring answer you hear a million times. Someone should flat out ask Holly, what was her favorite episode for Piper's character and the one she most identifies with for her character Piper. I bet she'll still say Sword and the City though.

I think you also have to take into consideration that a lot of times actors don't watch the episodes they film so their experience is only acting so their feelings would be totally different since they arent actually watching the product they put out.

That's exactly the way I saw it. Holly loved that episode because she got to play with the sword (notice that she kept it) and found out she was pregnant with her first child. Obviously what was going on with Piper wasn't that important to her as an actress - she was just doing her job, so I'm not surprised that she made a choice like that at all.
It would be interesting to know what the other actresses considered *their* favorite episode and if their reasons were similar or different.
FANS are going to choose which episodes are their favorites due to what happens to the characters. That's obviously not what's important to this actress, since she gave a similar answer at a different convention. I can see how finding out you're pregnant for the first time (and the fact that this meant Chris became Piper's son meaning he'd stick around for the entire season and she'd have more scenes) would be more important to her than what happened to her character during that particular episode.

I get what everyone is saying about the actors' unique experience of the show. It would just be nice if they seemed to have some kind of emotional connection to the show for the story and the characters, and not just how they relate to it as actors. Most jobs that people have don't have underlying emotions like with acting and storytelling, so it's disappointing when actors don't seem to care about those things.

Yes, it would be nice, but that's obviously not what is.
I've heard of very few actors who want to go back and watch their performances because rather than getting into the characters, they're watching their performance and noting all the things they should've done better.
Sometimes that's why it's nice *not* to know the actors as people who aren't the characters rather than just knowing about the characters. It's why I always try to keep them separate.
Who knows? Maybe we're lucky NOT to get anything from the actresses for the 20th anniversary...
I've heard that the reboot actors are going to be at ComicCon, something that the Charmed actors never got a chance to do, since they were usually in the shadows of Buffy, who did get invited. It will be interesting to see if Ripoff-Charmed (I call it that because we all know it wouldn't have had a chance at being on the air if they didn't rip off ideas from Classic Charmed) can step out of Classic Charmed's shadow and be its own show without constantly being compared to Classic Charmed.
Can't help but wonder if our ladies would've been invited for the 20th anniversary if they were all getting along...and now I think we're lucky that they won't be there - even more of our illusions might have been shattered.

You make a point, that actors don't watch what they did, because they will just get critical about performances. It's just too bad Charmed never had DVD extras and a majority of the episodes had commentaries with the actresses watching the work they did.
I hope they can step out of Classic Charmed's shadow. Let's hope they do things really different and not rely too heavily on Classic Charmed storylines. Seeing as they already are adding Whitelighters, they will straightway get compared. The more they do different things and try more to be its own show, the better they will do.

But shows like Buffy or X Files did appear at San Diego in the late 90s. But as usual Charmed was always never invited. I think nothing happened until Holly and Shannen started doing cons years after Charmed ended.

I think Shannen has said her fave episode was Ms.Hellfire Not surprised, same way All Hell Breaks Loose is her other favorite based off some Youtube panels I've seen dear. I'm guessing due to her directing it and being involved more. Like the costumes in Ms. Hellfire. Very curious what Alyssa and Roses are. I did vaguely recall Rose listing Charmed Noir as a favorite. Well here's an interview conducted right around Charmed ending in 2006, to answer some of their favorites: And I was correct about Rose's. As we know, they never watch finished episodes (unless they *had* to like Shannen with directing for the editing or like other shows only when invited to do commentaries for DVDs), so obviously it will always be based on the filming and or experiences they had when doing the episodes. Not like the fans, when it's more about the characters and storylines.

At least Rose spoke more about why she loved it. First one to say she liked the script. Rather than Holly's typical I like the sword playing for her favorite.
But yeah unless the actresses did commentaries for episodes and really spoke we wont get more. Even then they'll just comment on the acting and wishing they improved than commenting on the script or I liked how my character did this or the story is that and so on.

Not limited as it was back then.

I remember reading about Holly liking the Excalibur episode. I always thought of that one as one of my least favorites. I didn't know that Holly and Shannen weren't speaking right now. Last I heard, they were still fast friends. Now I'm going to look that up. Gotta get my Charmed news fix!

It's sad they are no longer friends. But most of the Charmed ladies are not getting along these days. Too bad, I wanted them to reunite to celebrate the 20th anniversary in style, but that might only happen if they do separate interviews.
I have seen for the past couple of years Shannen hanging out with her BFF Sarah Michelle Gellar. Although from further looking up, they have been friends for years too. Didn't know that.
I also notice how much shade Shannen puts out on her social media I think it is about Holly and the people who she stopped talking too or abandoned her when she got cancer. "Friendship isn’t about whom you have known the longest. It’s about who came and never left your side." Then in an interview I read, she talks about cancer being a blessing, that she found out who her true friends were, and cleaning out house.
Did Holly abandon Shannen because of her cancer, or did Shannen dump her because she couldn't handle her negative energy around her. Who really knows?
But that is life. Some people just drift apart.
