Sounds like we are on the same timezone lol. Charmed comes on at 9pm. Looks like it. I thought it was at 8pm not 9 pm. Lol You think you'll watch it again next week? Yeah I'll continue to watch the remainder of the season and see how it all turns out.

It’s hilarious to think that these girls would’ve died in the first episode if it wasn’t for the “cis white male” telling them how to defeat the demon.

Reading these makes me glad I didn't waste time watching - just not for me, but glad it *is* for others so we can find out what happens.

So terrible. There wasn't even 1 second in this episode that even made me chuckle at best. I was to busy rolling my eyes at the stupidity of it all.
Gonna try to make my points without spoilers.
1. The political stuff was so much, it's like someone is hitting you with hammer on the head over and over. And from the tone of episode, I don't think they will stop it or even tone it down. I can actually see them increasing it.
2. All characters are awful human beings. You thought Charmed season 4-8 sisters were awful? You aint seen nothing yet.
3. It's bad teen/angst/drama etc.
4. Special effects were terrible.
5. Music was bad.
6. Very rushed.
7. Acting was what you expect from a teen show. Not terrible. But certainly not good.
8. Sisters are incompetent.
9. It's a magic show. No need for science.
10. It's ripping of everything they could think of.
I know many will not share my opinion. But this are my thoughts on this episode. Personally I would not recommend this to anyone. And I have to wonder, what audience were they targeting with this? Teenagers? The original show pilot was oscar worthy compared to this.
Remove/change the tittle of the show. And this would have been canceled after a few episodes. But seams they are riding so much on that name and the og shows fans. Tho even with all of that. I can't see this show getting second season.
Personally I do not see my self continuing to watch this any more. Maybe maybe 1 more episode just so my thoughts can be assured 100%.
Actually there was 1 thing that made laugh at the show. And I am not even from USA. But seriously. Trump is the first sign of the upcoming apocalypse? lmfao Show is not subtle at all. It's hammering away! lol

But this time of year is very busy for them both. I've heard they have ripped off more than just Charmed dear. So much political stuff, I'm sure this is just the beginning. Whenever a new headline in the media comes out, expect it to be worked into this show. I can see, I made the right decision not to watch. I'll still follow along with everyone else here and read this way. I'm shocked Macy moved in at the end of the episode. And here I was complaining Paige moved in too soon and that was six episodes.

Not people, but woman. Even ancient demons and whitelighters are all so pc woke. Imagine just for a second this kind of stuff in the original show? lol This set of sisters make crazy/evil Cole into a decent person! lol

No doubt about it - this should've been a single after-school special with a totally different name. We wouldn't even be discussing it here at the Cafe if it wasn't called Charmed.sp
I'll definitely stick to watching Charmed (the REAL Charmed, the CLASSIC Charmed - even Itunes thinks so!) and editing Elemental Charmed. If only this was more like that!
Teen-aged angst is why I couldn't watch Buffy or BH90201. Yet another reason I don't want to waste a second on this. And calling it Rip-Off (no need to add Charmed) is perfect since it seems to be ripping off more than just Charmed. The way I count S4-8 of Charmed as the alternate-universe spin-off called "The Perils of Poor, Poor Pitiful Piper aka PhoeME and Her Fantasy Men aka Two Witches Plus One Living Whitelighter Equals the Power of Three?" I'm just calling this one Ripoff.

So I didn't think I'd watch this but ended up anyway since I wasn't doing anything. At the attempt of doing an unbiased review here goes nothing: Positive: Thought I would reply to each of the statements in red since I like some of your Pro's and Cons. Getting used to this quoting thing...The middle sister's freezing power. I don't like how she's channeling it with her mind, but I do like what makes it work. Piper's worked when she was anxious/scared. This sister's works when she's happy and positive. In the episode and before she's rather grumpy, so her powers will actually lead to some character growth if she wants to use her freezing power. It is an interesting way to trigger this power. Having to be calm and happy rather than panicky and reactionary. I like that the middle sister was gay, their relationship seemed very realistic with the break up. AgreeThe mother character seemed very nice, I wish we saw more of her before she died. Her magic seemed pretty strong in this first episode. Hopefully they bring her back like they did Penny and everything. I didn't buy the relationship. I thought it was cheesy and forced. And why would a mother let her daughters go out by themselves at night down the street or through the woods. What a bad mother. Especially knowing that there are demonsThe relationship between the two younger sisters. They feel like they're sisters and play off of each other well, with time I'd imagine that this would be even more convincing. It helps that they look a little alike. The youngest is actually playing her age rather then acting older then she is or unnecessarily bratty. She's a freshman that wants people to like her, I get it. She's my favourite sisterThe visual effects weren't too bad. Negatives: Really don't like how the two sisters are automatically accepting of the new oldest sister. It took Piper what, months?, to accept Paige and these two accept her in 24 hours or less. Yes! I mean, hello, just watch the first couple of episodes of Charmed.... and we even thought that was rushed! Paige didn't move in until much later...and there was far more reason too. It's way too forced. The political statements? Please please let this be it. The youngest sister was fighting a demon and she's saying things like "I can always say no" yet she's about to be killed. Fight girl fight. The middle sister's protests were pretty extreme I think. Of course the bad guy had to be the one on trial. Why bring science into the show? It's magic and you don't have to explain it (they did once with Pipers powers and that was enough for me but I love fantasy) and actually do some witch craft. They defeated the possessed boy with baking soda. I like that she is smart though, I thought Prue's background fit more into the show though. Really don't like how they were kidnapped and be told about their powers and were witches. If they wanted to be "feminist" they'd do what the original did and learned as they went along and put things together piece by piece as they learned about magic. Not with some random person telling them and expecting to trust him. Agree. I thought this was stupid. Why couldn't they have just figured it out themselves. This is probably the worst part of the entire pilot. They just get drugged and then tied up and then have to make an ultimatum? Harry, he gives me a vibe that reminds me of Gideon. While that's not a bad thing, you know something is up with him and we're left guessing what. Don't trust him? This doesn't seem like a good set up especially in the first episode since we just met him. The whole consent thing. So Harry tells them that they have an option to accept their powers or not. Then it goes back later to say if you do this thing (I forgot what it was) you have to accept the powers and can't go back. So what was consensual? The original girls didn't have a choice, they were going to get their powers eventually. So they can't be witches individually? This is the part I don't getIn All: I liked it, it'd be something that I'd write if I was doing a Charmed spin off (except the girls would be Phoebe's kids and we'd get cameo's from the original cast throughout the season). It has it's good points and it's bad. I probably won't be watching again but for what it is, its good. Teenagers are going to eat it up and fans of the original will enjoy some parts here and there. I didn't enjoy it. I liked the youngest sister. I thought that the sisterhood was way to forced to quickly. I feel like we went from SWTWComes to Charmed Again to the verge of Charmed and Dangerous. They should have kept it simple, like the original, concentrating on the sisterly relationships. It just felt forced down my throat a little.

The series premiere of Charmed is AVAILABLE NOW for FREE on The CW App.
All are welcome to be, and all are welcome to watch. The CW is Open To All. #CWOpenToAll**Goes to CW app** This item is not available in your country. But Youtube to the rescue. So far: -Unlike the horrible fashion and over-focus on Phoebe's cleavage and crotch, glad to see here so far everyone is dressed like an average human being and not something out of Kern's twisted fantasies. -Was Mommy drunk and doing drugs? Even during that celebration video clip of graduation she seemed to be reading memorized lines rather than actually meaning the words she was saying. Reminded me of the wooden plank Chris was when he first showed up. But atleast Chris improved a bit from a wooden plank and no matter how much season 6 annoyed me, his death scene with Leo and Paige was really good. But I can't really feel anything for Patty 2.0. So the sisters grieving or feeling the need to take revenge doesn't make me empathize with them. -The victim of the demonic attack was invisible. Demonic attacks were always shown in the first scene and here we were just told about a woman in a coma and honestly I kept forgetting her name and even forgetting that there was a victim in the first place. -The constant focus on politics and current issues did get irritating. Puppy dog Brian being possessed was just....pointless. Seemed like it was just there so Maggie could say the consent line rather than Macy using baking powder. But it's still better than Phoebe using a poor defenseless white horse to ride butt naked in public over Piper not being able to breast feed in season 7. -Why was the woman's strength stealing demon's look ripped off from Game of Thrones?! Sure Belthazor was ripped off from a Star Wars villain. And getting infected with empathy suddenly had Prue acting like Neo from Matrix. But those are parts of Charmed I didn't like and hoped never to see again in a reboot. -There's too much crammed into one episode: Mom's death, Mom's death wasn't an accident but murder, abandoned sister discovery, whitelighter revealing himself, learning their witches and powers, there is a Source of All Evil, Macy moving in with her two sisters, 48 hour choice, vanquishing not one but two demons! Is CW planning to cancel without the 2nd season? What's the rush?

Ok, I've watched it and I definitely have some mixed feelings.
It is very cheesy, there's no getting away from it. The tone is nothing like the family drama serial feeling of Classic Charmed, but more of a horror-comedy. It feels like it could be a Ryan Murphy production - like a mix between Glee and Scream Queens (and chuck in some of Charmed S8). Some of the gags are funny, don't get me wrong; it's just very different. The biggest criticism I have is the pacing. The Pilot moves at bloody warped speed! I felt like I was watching a Season 1 recap. There were some promising chemistry and interactions in places, but the sweet, tender moments don't really get a chance to breathe as BAM! it's gone before you know it. I swear I was almost expecting to hear: "So - HERES-WHAT-YOU-MISSED-ON-CHARMED!!!!"
The feminist, political stuff isn't actually that bad. It isn't rammed in your face quite as much as I thought it would be, and it's not preachy. If anything, to me, it was kind of used to show off Mel's idiosyncratic personality.
Macy's introduction was clunky as hell. As I say, it feels like they've put half a season's worth of characterisation into one episode. The power introductions were amongst the weaker scenes ("Oh! Me so clumsy! Silly me!", "WHAT... IS... HAPP...EN...ING???"). Maggie is my early favourite. The actress came off as the most natural and believable.
The Demon of the Week was.... bad. He looked like a cross between a Marvel character and a Scooby-Doo baddie. Those of us who dislike Whitelighters (aka Cosmic Taxis and Rent-a-Healers) are to be immediately disappointed. Harry's introduction was worse than Macy's. His explanation of the girls' powers and heritage was ruined by his silly jokes. I foresee it being a big problem for me if the show can't learn when to joke and when to be serious, something Classic Charmed excelled at.
It definitely won't match Classic Charmed for me; frankly the actresses don't come close to the Fantastic Four. I think they would have came across better if the filming/tone/cinematography wasn't so 'Lifetime Movie'. WoEE was like this too - I don't know if it's the filming style or the acting, but a lot of modern shows just seem so cringe in comparison to 90s tv.
However, I do hope they can take their foot off the accelerator a bit and iron out some of the weaker plot points, and then I think I can enjoy it for what it is.

My biggest question to those who watched it - would you have watched it if it wasn't called "Charmed"? Would we even be discussing it in its own board if it wasn't called Charmed? Is it enough like Charmed that it truly deserves a board in the CHARMED Cafe or should it just have its own thread in the "Other Fandom" board?

Watched it today and enjoyed it very much. It was actually fun! Such a freaky coincidence: the first episode of the reboot came out on October 14, and the next day one of our TV channels starts rerunning Classic Charmed from season 1. I can say that pilots of both shows are pretty cheesy in some way and yet both of them were enjoyable for me to watch. I didn't even try to compare the new show with the original one because for me these are two different series set in different universes. Not sure about quite a few changes they made but I sincerely hope that the show will be successful.
Also don't really understand fans who spread hate towards the new show... guys, we understand how much you love the original series and nobody tries to replace it. If you don't like the new one for some reason, why waste your time on bitching? It's funny to see some fans trying so hard to find faults with the reboot... do they really have to be so mean? I feel really bad for the creators, especially three main leads who didn't do anything wrong. Guys, imagine yourself in their shoes. How would you feel dealing with so much negativity?

Yeesh, never mind. Hopefully they include the mother character a bit more throughout the show, that's just a salty taste now. Not only did Paige move in not that long ago, but didn't it take awhile for Piper to even say I love you to Paige? I have a feeling these girls are going to say it in like two episodes. I didn't understand anything about that consensual part of the powers. Which was it? Either take it or leave it? This show isn't for everyone though, the youngest sister was good but I know I'm not watching.

I'm sure the consensual part was supposed to be their way of talking about a woman being able to give consent to have sex; if she doesn't, it's rape. If that's the only reason they put in the "you have this much time to decide" bit, I'm not impressed.

They are adults so she doesnt have that much of a say. 2. It was probably like 9? 10? 3. There were no demons running around until after they left the house.

Growing up in the 90s/00s. If you've seen shows like Charmed or Buffy etc. You've seen them all. Nothing excites me these days about modern shows. And I'm much more picky about my shows. Far too many shows from my childhood are being rebooted and It hasn't been that long.
If this wasn't even called Charmed. I doubt anyone here talks about it. It would just be like Witches of East End. Which by the way the house in this series used. The front is exactly out of WOEE.
I gave it a try and wished I didn't. It was so forced and the pacing was bad.
They had the whole demon dog plot in the middle they could have just as easily been cut. It felt pointless.
Having the Whitelighter tell them everything right down to how to vanquish the demon. Makes me appreciate the original pilot way more.
Saying Trump started the Apocalypse LOL
This pilot really needed two parts to it. It was so rushed.
The kidnapping scene by Harry was the worst part and cringe.
Macy and the Science felt so Dana Scully from the X-Files. How many elements from other shows are they trying to throw in.
Macy moves into the house already. That felt forced.
I think the few positives were the set up with the mother and her dying. The younger sister wasn't that bad, of course she is no Phoebe. The sets were decent and I didn't mind the new Book of Shadows.
Will I keep watching. NO!

Something for those who watched, since I saw this on IMDB.
But Constance M. Burge got a story credit for the pilot alongside the other writers. Now I wonder if this was just their way to credit the original creator, as they would with Charmed originally created by Constance M. Burge, or did she actually have some input, or just more a nod and credit.

There's too much crammed into one episode: Mom's death, Mom's death wasn't an accident but murder, abandoned sister discovery, whitelighter revealing himself, learning their witches and powers, there is a Source of All Evil, Macy moving in with her two sisters, 48 hour choice, vanquishing not one but two demons.
Agree you sum it up well Wayyyyy tooo much happened.
They didn’t even need to copy charmed, it felt like the haddd to follow it
