I have no idea where the right place to post this would be. Hopefully, this is okay.
Quick background: Initially inspired by another thread discussing Hecate, Queen of the Underworld from S1. And it came up again in a recent thread about warlocks. I don't want to take over other threads so I'm posting the idea here.
"Equilibrium"
To create such a powerful force of Good as The Charmed Ones, an equally powerful force of Evil must be created to keep the balance. The moment the Halliwell sisters unlock their powers, the Rowe brothers receive theirs.
As mystical counterweights, they cannot destroy each other. If the sisters vanquish the brothers, they risk throwing nature out of balance. The brothers can't kill the sisters because the moment the Power of Three doesn't exist, the "evil Power of Evil" they wield will be lost, too.
For years, the two covens repeatedly clash and occasionally blur the line between Good and Evil. Sometimes even working together to defeat more powerful enemies. When Prue Halliwell dies, the brothers pay their respects. And upon the discovery of Paige Matthews, they all regain their powers and respective destinies.
As sons of Hecate, a formidable sorceress and Queen of the Underworld, the brothers are pitted against her rival, the Source, alongside the sisters. When Piper's daughter Melinda is born, Hecate joins forces with the Seer to bind the girl in a marriage pact with the son conceived during the events of The Wedding From Hell.
In lieu of Whitelighters, witches rely on their familiars for guidance. The Halliwells’ familiar becomes human after fulfilling her duties guiding them and continues to assist them.
Demons (such as the Source) are a rare sight. Confined to the Underworld, the sisters generally only encounter them when they themselves travel to the Underworld. Warlocks are the major threat throughout the series. Including Cole Turner, a warlock who turns Good after falling in love with Phoebe Halliwell but continues to struggle with his dark side.
Witches are born with a single Wiccan power. Their abilities strengthen and grow over time in relation to the amount of Good they do. Conversely, warlocks have no power, only a hunger for it. They can only obtain magical abilities by killing witches and stealing their powers. The more they do this, the longer they live (eternal life is a curse) and so can potentially collect powers from hundreds of years worth of victims and become nigh unstoppable. The longer a warlock does this, the emptier the world begins to feel. They take less pleasure in the kill (or anything at all), and yet it becomes increasingly harder to regain their humanity.
The eldest and most ruthless Rowe brother is the most powerful, having killed the most witches and without remorse. The middle brother is more laid back, a "live and let die" sort of guy. He and Phoebe seem to see eye to eye most. The youngest, fighting to be Good, has no powers at all as he refuses to kill. He and Prue share romantic feelings for one another. This changes when he is forced to kill a witch. Though trying to conceal it, he uses this power to protect Prue. She knows immediately what it means and is appalled.
Other love interests:
Andy, a mortal cop who grew up with the sisters and steals Prue's heart (as he did when they were younger) whilst she's engaged to someone else. He discovers their Wiccan secret and helps to keep it hidden.
Dan, their neighbor, is kept completely unaware until the day he marries Piper. They try to make it work but when he discovers the situation with Melinda, he ends their marriage. The subsequent custody battle is heart-wrenching and brings up several questions for Piper regarding the ethics of raising a child in a magical world. She then meets Dr Leo Wyatt, Melinda’s pediatrician.
Henry, a homeless man Paige helped after his guitar string broke; she sang with him and helped him earn more money. For a time, he informs her of strange things he sees happening on the streets. Eventually, she helps him get back on his feet (using her job as a social worker to her advantage). He earns money teaching guitar while working to join the police academy. He wants to help protect people on the streets. He’s already figured out that she’s a witch and asks her out on a date.
Obviously, it's not fully fleshed out and I got sidetracked with the romantic plotlines.
Re: warlock magic. They are inherently magical people but they lack active abilities (like when the sisters time travel in All Hallow's Eve). The three brothers together, using their "Power of Three," can perform rituals but individually, they can't cast spells.
Re: allegiance to Good or Evil. Warlocks can become witches and vice versa. But switching sides is tough. The allegiance they're born with simply comes from their parents and also a rite (a Wiccaning for witches and a Dark Wiccaning or something with a better name for warlocks) performed on them as young children.
Let me know what you think
