Phoebe's new power this season was very promising and fitting for her character.
But from the onset, it was very underused. I believe 7 times in the whole season across 4 episodes: 3.01, 3.03, 3.07, 3.11.
I base that count on the "sound effect" associated with the power. Phoebe's marital art skills were always very impressive. She did some fancy, levitation-esque stuff in 3.06, 3.08, 3.12, etc. Are we to believe levitation was not involved?
I personally would have loved to hear the little levitation sound effect in the background to just be reminded here was Phoebe, a Charmed one, using her power....

Bear in mind the show used wire work when showcasing Phoebe using levitation which was expensive to continuously use during Charmed's running hence why she lost that a few episodes before season 6 end.

I would've much rather have Phoebe's premonition power grow and be used more often than have her gain an active power, but it did make Phoebe seem extremely underpowered in the later seasons when she loses all of her powers. Especially when she is among uber witches like Paige, Piper, Chris, Wyatt, Billie and Christy who are all formidable. |

It confuses me why the writers didn't just give Phoebe more psychic abilities as the show progressed. Her premonitions even barely advanced compared to her sister's abilities. She could've started with seeing flashes of the future, then clearer visions, then seeing the past, emotionally connecting with the people in her visions which could've expanded into empathy, and finally been able to predict actions in battle and of demons which maybe would've been too useful for the writers. |

I agree with you, I would have ditched her being able to levitate and replaced it with empathy. Slowly gaining up to being able to know their deepest thoughts, so maybe reading minds? |

I agree with you, I would have ditched her being able to levitate and replaced it with empathy. Slowly gaining up to being able to know their deepest thoughts, so maybe reading minds? That would've made way more sense than the disparate power evolution she had on the show. I would've liked her empathy to allow her to resist certain magical abilities but not replicate them, that seemed cheap to me. I think the empathy growing into a low level form of telepathy would've worked nicely, and could've explained the Charmed One psychic connection they mentioned a couple times. |

Rumor has it that in Season 3, a budget increase and Alyssa's wanting an active power resulted in levitation. Kern is an idiot: he wrote the very season finale of season 2 that essentially foreshadowed better premonition skills for Phoebe then INSTEAD wrote the season premiere giving her the useless levitation power and a premonition to save the innocent who was a demon who hired to kill them. If we go with the theory that new powers don't emerge from the original power, then I'd be okay with Phoebe developing levitation earlier in season 2 and letting it develop throughout season 4, which would be useful after Prue's death. What I would enjoy is Phoebe learning to develop Prue's astral project power. I guess Prue learned it subconsciously by needing to be in multiple places at once - not by literally needing to be in multiple places at once
I'd prefer this as a nod to Prue and a better power development than "astral premonitions." Sympathy for the Demon comes to mind. It would have let her do more Power of 3 things and could emerge from having a busy career at Bay Mirror. I'd also prefer if it meant LESS ORBING via Page in season 5.
This is of course if we don't do the original Prue getting levitation and Phoebe getting astral project if new powers were to grow progressively.

This same "suggestion" basically had Phoebe swap her Levitation Powers with Prue's Astral projection. Not sure what the fandom thinks about that, but I digress. Back on topic, of the OP, they did use Phoebe's Levitation power one more time in S6 (I believe it's the Witchstock episode, if memory serves me right, don't quote me on it, though LOL) |

I think a lot of fans(here) are confused on why the powers went to who they did. Logically, it flows better with the base powers of Prue getting levitation and Phoebe getting astral projection. I can see Phoebe having Astral Projection. Since, she "projected" into her own premonition (S5), but I digress. |
