Another great episode! It was so adrenaline!!! 1) Fiona has been stripped of her immortality by Macy and joined Alistair; 2) Hunter killed all the Elders except for Charity: according to the Prophecy, all the Elders must die before the Source's rising, so I assume that the sisters will protect Charity in the next two episodes; 3) Marisol has left some presents for her daughters: real weapons that the Charmed Ones will be able to use in the imminent Apocalypse to enhance their powers; 4) We had some very sweet moments between Mel and Macy; 5) And finally, The Harbinger is back and the inhabitants of Hilltown are starting to die: among the victims there is also Nico who meanwhile has discovered the whole truth about the spell with which Mel rewrote their history together. An epic season finale awaits us!

This was an ok episode but then they went full on camp/video game/sailor moon and it is purely ridiculous, I'm not sure why this is called Charmed when the Charmed Ones need some kind of upgrade every other episode. Their powers have grown to the point where now they introduced magical items that enhance their powers so Mel can have super speed and Maggie can have a magic emotional staff...WHAT? Thank god the current showrunners got the boot.

Thank god the current showrunners got the boot. I feel exactly the same way as you. Why are they getting new power upgrades each episode. This feels more like a superhero shows with a million powers, their powers should grow naturally. But like some think, the first season of the reboot feels like two or three seasons in one. I still am liking some of the changes, but then some things still need working. LOL, the Elders are a joke. Like they are not even powerful. That Hunter can kill them off so easily, and the writers have wiped out all the Elders before S1 even ends. I did think they have one good thing over Classic Charmed, the way they use their mother, not appearing as a ghost, but finding so many ways for her to help without actually appearing. I'll give them that they are creative. But this last appearance with her giving them upgrades, not so sure I like it. So glad we're getting new showrunners, to come in. The current ones are terrible at plotting things organically.

The Halliwells didn't see Patty as a ghost fully until S3 and by S4 they were fully integrated into the witch life. Not to mention that Patty was just your everyday witch as opposed to Mama Vera who has her hands in EVERYTHING that it just becomes too much even if it isnt her spirit. Secret rooms, secret lairs, being an Elder, professor, Sarcana, hologram....being Charmed is so high tech nowdays lol.

Yeah, when you put it that way, maybe they are making her out to be this powerful witch who has her hand in everything. When her only power is Prophecy and seeing the future, I guess this is their way of saying she knew she'd die for years, and was planning everything and saw so much in her visions to know what was going on. Also, we've only just met Mama Vera, we have no other family members yet as far as we know. No Grams in this one. So she is just filling in the role of both Patty and Grams.

This episode was okay, but it's just another showcase how the current writers aren't good with being consistent with their stories in an organic matter. The girls feel way to overpowered for a season 1. While the original went about it in a samey format (i.e. most demon problems were resolved by Prue using telekinesis or Piper freezing followed by Prue moving them) at least it was at a stage were the girls were inexperienced or just coming into using their powers. Here the girls have different powers almost every episode.. I feel this is just their way of showing off the effects. I question why they're even beginners at all, they just act as if they've been experienced at this for years.
I'd like the staff and bracelets thing if they were introduced in like another season or so. The idea of them having magically enhanced weapons seems fun, but it only seem like it existed here just to show them off and nothing else. What makes it even worse is they resolve NOTHING! Literally Mel and Maggie still get thrown around by Hunter and Macy is the one who fends off against him with her powers.
I do like how they have Marisol actually helping them without being active. Ridding of Grams/Patty's deaths being treated like nothing after season 2 of OG Charmed. The Elders really suck in this show. Not that they were great in OG Charmed, but at least when they all got slaughtered by the Titans in "Oh My Goddess" they were taken out by multiple forces who were argubly more powerful. Here they single handedly get taken out by a beefed up Hunter from Tarturus who only kills them by basic means one even dies by the classic sneak-attack neck snap, what?! and this is before Season 1 even ends!
At least OG Charmed waited until Season 5 to kill a lot of them. Though I can at least say the actor did seem like he was having fun. The Whitelighters as a whole seem worse in the reboot. At least they waited until later seasons to make Leo suck in terms of battle. But early on they made him seem mysterious and earlier seasons had at least Leo doing things, Harry seems to be kidnapped or weakened most of the time. (Though I still like Harry as a character)
I'm conflicted on the Alastor/Charity teamup. On one hand it feels wasted that we don't get a dynamic between the two. On the other hand this could've been planned by Alastor from the start to pretend to recruit Charity to his side, but make her an easy stepping stone for them to kill once they killed the rest of the Elders, considering she's the only one left. Then again that'd just make them teamup pointless, either way I feel it was kinda wasted now that Charity ran away when Fiona was about to kill her.
What also really got me was how easily Fiona gave into being tortured by Macy's demon powers. Fiona just cowers down like (stop it please) isn't she suppose to be the keeper of all magic and she goes down that easily? Even in a weakened state I doubt she'd cry like a baby being tortured. Power levels seem very inconsistent on the reboot.
Mel and Niko were pretty much the most consistent thing. Niko's growing on me a lot more as a character and Niko's reaction to Mel's actions were justified and felt like a real conflict for someone violating you.
I really hope the new showrunners in season 2 can layer things more naturally keep consistent pacing (this show has great ideas, but are just killed by pacing and consistency) and give characters more layers. (fix Mel, Fix Parker etc)
