The season premiere was good from the start to finish with the demon coming in the book being destroyed, the portal and everything.
How the girls were dis-empowered except Macy who I was worried about generally having no Harry to heal her initially.
I got Supernatural Men Of Letters bunker vibes from the command center type place when the girls exited the incoming portal then.
I'm glad relationship drama wasn't the focus of this episode which what was happening to them rightly was coincidentally.
Mel seemed like Prue to me a little bit when she was talking to the witch in the attic taking her new duties seriously whilst Macy and Maggie weren't at the time.
Pleased both of them came around at the end all reading from the same page.
Surprised Harry's doppelganger was the demon in disguise meaning he either comes from a mirror world where White lighters are demons then or Harry has some evil twin brother perhaps.
Liked the effect used when uncloaking the manor in the vacant lot in Seattle then.
Was that Harry in the end recounting the demon reveal after being resurrected or the demon doppelganger posing as Harry? The way the scene played out I wasn't sure exactly.
This start felt like a proper reboot to Charmed that I'm interested to see evidently.

What happened is good because not only does it add suspenseful drama to the show but also real danger too not only for the sisters but witches everywhere as if Eames plan from 'Blinded By The Whitelighter' in the original series worked then with the Elders here included.
The sisters and witches will have to look over their shoulders when it comes to evil picking and choosing who they fight then having no healers to repair their wounds giving a real sense of morality.
The fact the BOS was destroyed not having a protection spell like the original BOS is interesting because that means the girls won't have access to information anymore on threats and how to destroy them via spells or potions then.
They will have to do real research whilst a new BOS is created.
I've just thought Harry's doppelganger could be this Charmed's version of a Dark Lighter also instead of a demon then.

This is the way to start a premiere episode. Right from the get go the show instantly tells us hey forget everything that happened before here's the actual "reboot" part of the show. I like how interesting conflict is created, the fact the BOS is destroyed, this leads me to believe that part of the arc this season will be repairing the BOS and maybe even getting background to how the BOS is made, maybe the girls might even create their own my extensive research.

I love the scope of vulnerability here because It creates drama. i really hope this leads to them all creating their own witch army.

How the girls were dis-empowered except Macy who I was worried about generally having no Harry to heal her initially. I really don't want the to abandon the initial core powers as I feel they are part of the core ingredients of Charmed, but I do hope they get new powers expanded on in a meaningful way.
I got Supernatural Men Of Letters bunker vibes from the command center type place when the girls exited the incoming portal then. I'm glad relationship drama wasn't the focus of this episode which what was happening to them rightly was coincidentally. I feel like not focusing on so many relationships at one time greatly helped this episode's favor, as I think it largely contributed to the horrid pacing of Season 1.
Mel seemed like Prue to me a little bit when she was talking to the witch in the attic taking her new duties seriously whilst Macy and Maggie weren't at the time. It seems like they're trying to improve Mel's character because she was the weakest of the characters in terms of character.
It also referenced how the house was linked to the girls in OG Charmed, but here it's much more emphasized to bigger effect.
Was that Harry in the end recounting the demon reveal after being resurrected or the demon doppelganger posing as Harry? The way the scene played out I wasn't sure exactly. This has me intrigued because if this is show's version of Darklighters being doppelgangers over just being "evil" versions of whitelighters I'm genuinely interested to see this new take on the concept.
Unfortuntely this came far too late that most people have already given up on the show excluding the one's willing enough to give it a chance. The pilot was so bad and the first season didn't do so well it hurts any attention this episode had at pulling them in, which is a shame because this was the type of premiere we Charmed fans deserved. Still being Charmed, but with the actual reboot being used to full effect rather than just a cheap title.

After how poorly received S1 was, and the pacing and writing is so bad. I don't blame them for doing a reboot of the reboot. It allows them to fix things.
It looks like they also saw that setting the show in a small town just doesn't work, I certainly didn't think it did. Seattle now as the setting, allows them to explore the whole city not a small town.
Was I the only one getting Harry Potter vibes. The whispering in Macy's head, reminded me of Voldermort doing it to Harry in the movies. Also, Safe Space gave me plenty of Diagon Alley vibes from Harry Potter.
I'll admit, the ONLY part I hated was the book being destroyed. That really upset me and was disgusting, that they dared destroy it the writers. That was in their family, and the book is so important, and that it had no protection. Maybe, they can somehow get it back. All those family spells lost.
I really liked this episode, because it was so sisterly centric, and they have removed all the love interests, yes we gained one. Will this reboot ACTUALLY go on the path to being good. I sure hope so.
PROS: *Harry is the last whitelighter now, as they are all dead. So now it looks like Elders and Whitelighters are a thing of the past. *New City, past love interests all gone. *Sisterly centric opening episode, and this is the FIRST episode ever, I truly felt like this was the case, since Harry was only in the start and end. *The element of danger without a whitelighter, so witches are vulnerable. *Sisters being de-powered and losing all their powers, now having to gain them back. I hope, they just let them have their original gifts, and those extra ones are gone.
CONS: *Destroying the book of shadows. That upset me so much. Yes, they can start a new one. But how sad, they lost what is so important, but they barely explored their family line, apart from their mother, we know next to nothing.
It looks like they rebooted the reboot basically this season. I'll pray that it lives up, and actually DOES improve. Because, this was a good episode, and so proud that they let it stay sisterly centric, and have gotten rid of all the love interests FOR now. I'm worried Parker will come back.

Hopefully, the show does improve yes.
I'm one of the people still willing to give it a try as Codebox said.
When the shows finishes and people rewatch it future wise they'll just skip the first season entirely and start from this one probably seeing how a recap of the previous year is shown already telling viewers what happened of course.

That's interesting. Yes people could skip S1 and jump to S2. I appreciated that it felt more sisterly centric. And the S1 cast is gone especially the love interests. We'll see if they resurface. Looks like a new city and no more Elders and Whitelighters (Harry being the last one) is a good turn to let the show stray less from Classic Charmed stories and become it's own. Hopefully the book returns and they can get it back.

I enjoyed S1 as we got to know each character and if you skip it, it would probably make things in S2 hard to understand...but I'm loving they're 'in charge'

They've been witches for a hot minute and cant even save the day on their own. Putting them in charge of the magic community was a disaster waiting to happen.
