Perhaps the assassin is like Eames from original Charmed going after witches for his own agenda which we'll find out why in due course.
I think in terms of whether Maggie getting the promotion was personal gain or not I see it that she did it to get entry into the command center so they can try and crack the Book Of Elders and know where to find potential witches who need saving and not for her own financial gain which I accept.
Original Charmed's first half season 8 storyline where Piper, Phoebe, and Paige looked different faking their deaths but had the actresses onscreen still fits this storyline better I think because of the natural of it giving better reasons why Mel, Macy, and Maggie would be different on the outside but still played by Sarah, Madeline, and Melonie obviously stopping any chance of exposure from background checks and making demons not know the Charmed Ones are alive also because they'd look and be known different now of course.
Maybe that could've been another safe guard the Elders done activated after the girls went through the portal first episode having new names, looks, and social security numbers already online vocating the need to do it themselves whatnot.
Good that Harry takes being a Whitelighter over his feelings for Macy more important here as it should do obviously.
Hopefully like Leo Abigail's introduced slowly then made a recurring character which was something I enjoyed about original Charmed when it aired.
And nice nod to San Francisco and the previous show with the title episode also.
