How's this? Our 13th Month-Day celebrated in Australia when it's still the 13th here in America!!
And to celebrate, Carina, a Charmed fan I met at a different site, has given me permission to share her new Christmas episode of her new series, The Power of Five, which combines both Elemental Charmed and Classic Charmed: Done Our Way with the entire Charmed Café!
Now what you must remember is that unlike CCDOW, both Penny and Patty are alive in Carina's series, taking the place of Prudence and Patience Warren from our EC. Like EC, in this version, the sisters grew up with their father, Victor. But unlike EC, it's all three sisters - Prue, Piper and Phoebe - AND the series takes place in 1998, so Shannen, Holly, Alyssa, Jennifer and Finola get to play their roles!!
Keeping all of that in mind, here's Carina's Christmas present to all of you!!
DEDICATION: I’d like to dedicate this to Team Charmed Café whose “Elemental Charmed” and “Classic Charmed, Done Our Way” inspired this fictional episode guide.
DISCLAIMER: I own nothing Charmed, which is owned by CBS Entertainment. This fictional guide was only written for the pleasure of Classic Charmed fans visiting Charmed message boards.
So?? What do YOU think of Carina's Christmas present to the Charmed Café? Personally I love it!! I think she did a fantastic job of taking our short Elemental Charmed press release, "The Warrens Who Saved Christmas" and turned it into a full episode featuring the Halliwells rather than the Warrens!

The Halliwells Who Saved Christmas
Original Air Date: December 16, 1998
Written by Chris Levinson & Zack Estrin
Season 1, Episode 10
Episode Number: 10
As Penny (Jennifer Rhodes) and Patty (Finola Hughes) add extra decorations to the Christmas tree, Phoebe (Alyssa Milano), who ignores them to watch TV, gets up, turns off the set and thinks upstairs. Penny tries to talk to Phoebe, but she ignores her. Patty reminds her mother that celebrating Christmas was always a big part of her daughters’ childhoods, and this is their first one without their father. Penny agrees – she knows this will be a very tough Christmas for the girls. She smiles at her daughter, “And you, too.”
When Phoebe looks into the bedroom her older sisters share, Prue (Shannen Doherty) tells her that she and Piper are going to head off to the mall since they’ve realized that they haven’t gotten gifts for their mother and grandmother. Piper (Holly Marie Combs) looks in, telling Prue that they should head out now. Phoebe wants to know if she can come home – after all, don’t they always pool their money so they can buy their grandmother and mother nice gifts, and the older two agree.
Phoebe admits to her sisters that she really doesn’t want to celebrate Christmas this year – their dad loved Christmas so much and it’s just going to be so hard trying to celebrate without him. Prue hugs Phoebe, telling her that it will be hard on all of them, but together they’ll make it. Piper brings up some of her favorite memories of Christmas with their father. After all, even though they spent Christmases here at the Manor while growing up, it was never as nice as the Christmas their dad always threw the Sunday before Christmas. Although they'd never admit it to their Halliwell relatives, their dad’s Christmas was always the best since it was always all about Prue, Piper and Phoebe, not the rest of the family.
So, this Sunday before Christmas - the first time they haven't celebrated Christmas with him - has all three of them not wanting to celebrate Christmas at all this year and even have them wanting to ditch the traditional Halliwell Christmas Eve dinner.
They decide to go out and try to cheer each other up. Phoebe thinks retail therapy might help them, in addition to finding gifts for the family. Prue wonders if they should tell Penny and Patty, but Phoebe thinks they should just go.
Meanwhile, down the street, a little girl (guest star TBD) walks by. She sees a mother with her daughter. and snatches a candy cane from the daughter’s hand before running down the street, muttering under her breath that this Christmas they’ll be sorry for messing with her. As she laughs, the screen goes black and the opening credits run followed by Bing Crosby’s “I’ll be Home for Christmas” playing while the guest credits run over showing shots of the city of Salem, with Christmas themed stuff around town, before showing the sisters entering the Mall at Rockingham Park.
As they walk, they pass an area where children stand in line, waiting to visit Santa. Phoebe recalls her first time meeting Santa at the mall. Prue smiles, remembering Phoebe’s cute red velvet outfit. Piper laughs remembering Prue wanting to dye Phoebe’s hair red to match her outfit, so she used red paint. They all laugh remembering how angry their dad got, even if Prue thought it made Phoebe’s hair look pretty.
Prue starts towards Macy’s because she saw an ad for a robe that she thinks their mother would love, but all Piper wants to do is go to the Barnes and Noble because she thinks they should get their grandmother a new very cool gardening book. Phoebe thinks they can do both. Noticing that they’ve entered in the door close to Macy’s, she thinks they should go there first. But Prue stops them, wondering if maybe they should split up so they can buy their gifts for each other. Piper thinks they could do that, but why not they do that after they get the gifts for their mother and grandmother, and the other two agree.
Meanwhile, Penny is on the phone with her younger sister Janice, who she’s excited to see on Christmas Day. Janice wants to know how Patty and especially the girls are coping. She’s happy to find out that although they miss their dad and miss San Francisco, they’re doing okay. Janice warns her that that there’s snowstorms in Philadelphia’s weather forecast. Penny just smiles saying that like every year, Janice will get to Salem when she gets to Salem. Janice laughs, knowing that Penny won’t let Patty use her powers to get Janice to Salem faster – no personal gain allowed. They remember too much what happened when young Patty decided to go get her Aunt Janice – rather than Salem, they ended up at the real North Pole with no Santa in sight!
At the same time, Patty can’t find her daughters. She’s looked all over the Manor and no such luck. Now she’s becoming worried.
In Macy’s, Phoebe finds a cute top, but she sighs, knowing she has to focus on the gifts for others this trip. Prue smiles to herself, deciding she’ll come back for the top later as her present for her baby sister. They’re almost to the area where they’ll buy their mother’s robe when Piper stops to smell some scented candles. She finds one she likes, but her sisters don’t agree, so Piper puts it back. Prue finds one that she says their dad always used at home. Her sisters each sniff it and they agree that it makes them think their dad and Christmas and put it in their basket.
They find the robe that Prue had in mind and her sisters agree that it’s perfect for their mother. They buy it and the candle, then head for Barnes and Noble and not only find the gardening book, but also some children’s books that they buy and put in the “Toys for Tots” box. Then since they’re starting to get hungry, they decide to stop at the food court before splitting so they can buy gifts for each other.
As they walk to the food court, they can’t help noticing a man on his phone, talking about losing in touch with his daughters. This makes them all miss their dad.
Meanwhile, Patty is going nuts wondering what happened to her daughter, so to try to keep her mind off of it, she thinks back to frantically searching for the perfect gift for her daughters on this first Christmas when they're living in Salem.
Meanwhile the sisters are eating lunch at the food court when they notice the man on the phone who saddened them earlier. He’s on his phone again, looking so sad. They hear him say he only has one more year to live before he’ll die of cancer, breaking the hearts of all three sisters. As they walk away, Prue can’t begin to imagine how he must feel. Piper agrees, then asks where they should meet after they’re done doing their shopping for each other. But Phoebe grabs her sisters’ arms, saying they have to help this man. Prue and Piper can’t figure out what they can do. Whispering, Phoebe thinks they should cast a spell, and she knows exactly which one. Her sisters are intrigued. Phoebe suggests they put their bags in the car where she can write down the spell. Afterwards, they can hunt for the man and when they find him, Piper freezes him, and they cast the spell. The other two agree.
Meanwhile, Penny is in the kitchen, baking something special for the girls until she realizes she has forgotten an important ingredient. She calls out to Patty, who is still running around looking for the perfect gift for her daughters. Penny tells her she’s going to walk just down the road to the local grocery stores – it’s closer than the mall and has what she needs. As Penny goes outside, she hears the neighbor girl yelling at her stepmother. Penny rolls her eyes, so glad neither/ Patty nor any of her granddaughters ever acted like that.
At the mall, Phoebe finishes the spell in Prue’s car. After looking it over, the three return to the mall and find the man still in the food court. But when they cast Phoebe’s spell, it backfires. The three sisters find themselves in a house which looks at least 50 years old. Prue is shocked. Piper rolls her eyes, wondering what did they do this time. As they try to figure it out, they’re shocked to see a little boy (guest star TBD) run down the stairs, exclaiming that it’s his sixth Christmas and that the 60s are so much fun. The sisters stare at each other in shocked. Phoebe sighs, realizing that her spell backfired: rather than helping him forget his past, it’s sent them back to his past.
Back in the 90’s, Patty continues to search in the attic, knowing that what she wants to give her daughters is somewhere here, but she can’t find it. She considers a lost-and found-spell, but remembering what happened the last time she cast one of those, when the Manor became full of everything she and her mother thought they had lost, she decides against it.
Back in the 60s, the sisters keep watching the little boy. They discover that his name is Gary Jones, and he no longer believes in Santa, but still want a lot of things for Christmas. When his parents (guest stars TBD) give him his presents, he’s very upset, wanting more expensive gifts, saying his friends will laugh at such stupid presents. This upsets his parents who tell him that they did the best they could. His dad adds that when he has his own children someday, he’ll know how they now feel, but right now he couldn’t care less. The sisters feel sorry for his parents and are glad they never treated their dad or mom or grandmother that way, even if they weren’t always pleased with their gifts. Their dad always taught them that it’s the thought that counts. Thinking this, Prue marches over and tells the little boy off, but he neither hears her nor sees her. The sisters realize that they can only observe; they can’t interfere.
Even as they realize this, the sisters suddenly pop out of the scene and then pop back in. They’re still in the same house, but they’re now in Gary’s bedroom. Gary’s now a teenager (guest star TBD), sitting on his bed with a teenaged girl who he calls Cindy (guest star TBD). Seeing them makes Phoebe think about their own parents, wondering when they first met. Prue smiles, saying they meet in the late 60s at Buddy’s Diner, where their mother worked as a waitress. Piper smiles as she reaches to tap the ring that Prue always wear, telling Phoebe that their mom was wearing that ring when their dad first came into the diner. He tapped the ring and asked if the man who gave her that ring would mind if he took her home after her shift. Their mom smiled and said she didn’t think so, since the man who gave her the ring was her father, who found it in his garden. That makes all three sisters sigh at romance of it. Phoebe thinks they should go visit Buddy’s, but Prue reminds her that this is supposed to be about Gary Jones, not them. Phoebe sighs unhappily but agrees.
Back in the 90s, Patty is still looking all over in the attic, muttering about the old family video of the last Christmas they spent together before Prue, Piper and Phoebe moved away to live with Victor across the country in San Francisco. She can imagine how much her daughters would enjoy watching it. She wants to share it with them so badly, but she just can’t find it. Seeing the Book of Shadows sitting it on its pedestal, she decides she has to find that video and there’s just one way. She starts casting the lost-and-found spell, but her mother runs in and stops her. Then she shows her daughter what’s in her hands – the video – it’s been in Penny’s closet all this time.
Even as they laugh over this, Penny complains that the little girl next door was at it again, reeking havoc on the whole neighborhood, trying to ruin Christmas for everyone. She wonders why the girl is acting like this and why her parents haven’t stopped her. Patty reminds her mother that the little girl’s dad recently remarried. She wonders if maybe the little girl wants her dad to be miserable for divorcing her mother and marrying another woman. Suddenly the two women smell smoke seeping through the open window. Hurrying to the window, they discover that the little girl from next door has set fire to their backyard.
They run outside, grabbing the fire extinguishers from the kitchen on their way, quickly putting out the fire. Patty thinks they have to do something, before this little girl destroys the entire neighborhood. Penny thinks they should cast a spell that will teach this girl the true meaning of Christmas, and Patty agrees.
Meanwhile, the sisters’ trip ends with them seeing Gary Jones learning he has cancer, which breaks the sisters’ hearts, especially when they find out that his daughters no longer have anything to do with them. It makes them appreciate their dad even more now than they already did. Piper points out that if their mother and grandmother didn’t love them enough to let them live on the other side of the country with their dad, they might have ended up like this man’s daughters, so this trip has made her appreciate their mom and grandmother more. Phoebe agrees, pointing out that it’s just not right that the spoil their mother’s and their grandmother’s Christmas, especially when they know how much their mother is missing their dad. Prue hugs her sisters, suggesting they make a pact to throw themselves full-heartedly into Christmas.” When her sisters agree, they find themselves back in the mall. Piper laughs, thinking that it looks like they were the ones who truly needed to learn the true meaning of Christmas before trying to teach it to someone else. They can hope that somehow Gary Jones will reconcile with his daughters, but that’s up to them, not the Halliwells. Phoebe laughs, reminding her sisters that they never did buy presents for each other, but now she doesn’t really want anything – she just wants a great Christmas with her family. The others agree, even as Prue decides she still wants to get that top for Phoebe. The three sisters exit the mall, arms around each other, all three filled with the Christmas spirit.
Meanwhile, Penny and Patty’s spell has taken effect, but like their girls’ spell, it didn’t work the way they thought it would. Penny and Patty have arms around each other as they watch the happy little girl run and hug her mother. After thanking her dad, she hops into her mother’s car with her suitcase and they drive off. The little girl’s father has decided that it would be better for the little girl if she lives with her mother, which is for the best for everyone, including the entire neighborhood.
Even as they congratulate each other, the sisters return, running to hug their mother and grandmother, telling them how much they love them and how glad they are to be living with them, surprising Penny and Patty. They want to know what happened to bring on this wave of Christmas spirit. After they tell them about their time travel trip and the lesson they learned, Patty decides to present the girls with the video. The three of them cry again, hugging Patty, telling her it’s the best present they could ever receive.
Later, the five of them spend the Sunday before Christmas – the day the girls celebrated Christmas with Victor - watching the video. The sisters smile as they watch themselves spending Christmas as kids. Prue and Piper are opening their presents while Patty holds Baby Phoebe. Victor kisses Phoebe on her cheek and she squeals with glee. Then Victor grabs Piper and lifts her in the air, as she hugs her new teddy bear. Then he wants to know what did Santa bring Prue, and she proudly holds up her new Barbie doll. Patty kisses Victor, then smiles at Penny as the three of them happily watch their girls enjoy Christmas.
As they watch, Prue, Piper and Phoebe cuddle close together on the couch, Penny and Patty on either side of them, all five of them watching the video as tears of joy roll down their faces.
