What? Somebody needs to watch S6E18 "Spin City", again. The ONLY episode (and not the WHOLE season, like some like to claim) with this silly arc that somewhat lead into S6E19 "Crimes & Witch Demeanors", when her powers get taken away. S8 brings up her search, again but WITHOUT forcing premonitions. No, I don't think S8E1 "Still Charmed & Kicking" nor S8E9 "Hulkus Pocus" were "forced" premonitions, like she attempted (keyword), in S6E18 "Spin City".

Anyway, S6E18 "Spin City" makes it CLEAR she was NOT getting premonitions, despite trying. There were no "extra off-screen" premonitions. When, she touched the guy, at the restaurant, she LITERALLY said she got "nothing". Yes, she was trying to force a specific type of premonition but NEVER got it! Unlike her S1E20 "The Power of Two" counterpart, trying to call for ANY form, of premonition. Or, other episodes, like S2E15 "Give Me a Sign", trying to find Prue, post-intro and didn't get one then, until Darryl came, with the demon weapon. Or S2E22 "Be Careful What You Witch For" trying to locate Prue, again but got a different premonition. S3E16 "Death Takes a Halliwell" trying to get a lead on who killed Cole's landlord, etc.

Unlike those premonitions, she NEVER got one/any in S6E18 "Spin City"!

Again, huh? S6E18 "Spin City" still shows Phoebe having a hard time controlling her Empathy powers. Reason she "stopped empathizing" Paige and Piper was the potion made in S6E5 "Love's a Witch", that Chris got some demon to make. The ONLY episode where her Empathy powers seemed to be "under control" was in S6E14 "The Legend of Sleepy Halliwell".

I think a S6 refresher, is in order.

Empathy makes her permonitions and levitation stronger through emotion fueling them. In the same episode she starts a riot at work becuase of empathy she also levitates a newsman and herself.just because she still can't control empathy doesnt mean she can't use empathy to gain more control of her other powers. It is implied she forced the visions of her babydaddy. Empathy grated her control even if she cant fully control it yet

Oh OK, I see where we're going with this.

Empathy doesn't equate to her emotions, however.

What I mean by this is that she didn't have Empathy back in S5E6 "The Eyes Have it", when her own emotions was weakening her ability to Levitate, properly.

Nor is Empathy required to enhance her Premonitions. As her Premonition power was enhanced two or three/four (depending on how you look at it) times, prior to even getting Empathy:

1) S1E9 "The Witch is Back" is the first time Phoebe has a Premonition of the past.
2/3) S1E20 "The Power of Two" Phoebe insinuates she can "call" for her Premonitions, on demand. In the same episode, she claimed she "felt" the pain of the victim, in her Premonition.
3/4) S5E6 "The Eyes Have it" is the first time Phoebe can Astral Project into her Premonitions.

Any of those scenarios do NOT require Empathy to "fuel" an enhancement nor "strengthen" her power of Premonition.

Back in S1E20 "The Power of Two", sure Phoebe "felt" the pain of her victim, but it wasn't until S6E1 "Valhalley of the Dolls, Pt 1", where the show made it official, that Phoebe has the power of Empathy.

I never mentioned S6E3 "Forget Me, Not" which is where BOTH of these incidents take place. A pretty long while BEFORE the events of S6E18 "Spin City" and S6E19 "Crimes & Witch Demeanors" occurred.

That being said, are we saying Empathy played a part in when BOTH her power of Premonition and Levitation took place? I can MAYBE see it for Premonition but not Levitation.

I'm not exactly sure how you can use a power that you can't control to "control your other powers". If you're having a hard time controlling a power, I don't see how you'll have a good grasp on it to weaponize your other powers with it. I just don't.

"Forcing" Premonitions doesn't mean a Premonition ACTUALLY happened.

Again, Phoebe was "forcing" Premonitions in S1E20 "The Power of Two" on MULTIPLE objects and only got ONE, off of Piper's plane ticket.

In S2E15 "Give Me a Sign" she was "forcing" Premonitions to figure out what happened to Prue. She was touching Prue's camera, and the napkin that Bane used to make Prue unconscious.

The dialogue, in the beginning of S6E19 "Crimes & Witch Demeanors" stated Phoebe had an off-screen Premonition (like in S3E12 "Wrestling with demons" or S3E22 "All Hell Breaks Loose"), to which Paige (who seemed unsure) said "I thought you forced that Premonition", as in, Phoebe (like in S6E18 "Spin City") was "forcing" Premonitions to see (for herself) if the men she was "forcing" Premonitions on were her "baby daddy". It just so happens, Phoebe got a Premonition about Phantasms, instead. It's possible, one of the men she was "forcing" Premonitions (particularly "Baby Daddy" ones) was a victim of Phantasms (not at the time but a potential suitor) which kick started the episode. Does this mean EVERY guy she was "forcing" premonitions on, she got a Premonition about something? No. We just know that (at least) ONE of those moments, a Premonition ACTUALLY occurred. 'Cause back in S6E18 "Spin City" she did NOT get ANY Premonitions.

There's a reason why Phoebe clung so hard on Dex, in S8. 'Cause she FINALLY got that "Baby Daddy" Premonition (so she thought) she was looking for, back in S6 (particularly LATE S6, but I digress). And, Dex (rightfully) called her out on it, in S8E6 "Kill Billie: Vol I".

TBH, the ONLY episode, I felt like Phoebe ACTUALLY "forced" Premonitions was back in S1E2 "I've Got You Under My Skin". Because she abused her Premonition power even BACK then, she no longer had the ability to properly "call for"/"force" Premonitions, since.

I don't count ANY other Premonition (including S1E20 "The Power of Two", S2E22 "Be Careful What You Witch For", S3E16 "Death Takes a Halliwell", etc.) was Phoebe "forcing"/"calling" for it. I believe it's all "meant to be".  She just so happen to be "trying" and will accept "whatever" Premonition comes.

Especially because her goals of "forcing"/"calling" for them weren't really answering what she requested.  Similar to how I believe she's NOT going to get a proper "Baby Daddy" Premonition, and that her S8E1 "Still Charmed & Kicking" one was obviously MORE to it than what it seemed.

I got to thinking about this, and why I think the lack of Phoebe premonitions in S6 works more than the lack of Phoebe premonitions in S8.

I remember talking with other people regarding Phoebe's Empathy powers in S6 (ONLY season of it, mind you) and how underutilized it was. BUT, it certainly makes up for her lack of premonitions, in this season.

Reason I say this is because in S8E9 "Hulkus Pocus", Piper wanted Phoebe to get a premonition off of Agent Murphy to see if he was lying (which OFC, Phoebe refused 'cause she was all frustrated and yaddy yaddy yadda, I digress). If this was S6, Empathy would've worked just as well. As S6E14 "The Legend of Sleepy Halliwell" had Phoebe's Empathy "take care of" Zachary's lies.

But because ALL of Phoebe's powers were "taken away" from her by S6E19 "Crimes & Witch Demeanors", S7-S8 didn't have the Empathy luxury/cushion that S6 had. And, I don't understand why Empathy couldn't have made a "come back" in S8 (though, I feel, it kind of did in S7E1 "A Call to Arms", but I digress) especially in trying to detect/weed out lies. I understand S8 was on a budget, but I feel like Empathy wouldn't cost as much as her Levitation and/or Premonitions, but S8 couldn't be bothered to do that!

So, the sheer fact that S6 has a "lack of premonitions" doesn't really bother me, as her Empathy was an excellent substitute, compared to S8. In which, 2/3 of S8 Phoebe's premonitions were Dex focused -_- At least S6's premonitions were more about protecting the innocent and not centered around Phoebe's love life/baby.

Keep in mind S1 has a plethora of repeat premonitions. Still, S1 would still be 20+ minus those repeat premonitions.

At this point, I don't really care how many premonitions Phoebe has. But, more or less, how many EPISODES does she have (at least) 1 premonition in. 'Cause S5 demonstrates she can have more than one premonition in an episode, and it may seem like she's having a lot of premonitions in that season when in actuality, it's only a couple of episodes, where she is. S5 (technically) has more premonitions than S4, but S4 has more episodes, for Phoebe to have (at least) one premonition, per episode, so S4 is ranked over S5. This is why I wanted to see how often a season has a plethora of episodes showcasing the sisters powers than just spamming it all in a handful of episodes, that S5 did.

Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of the S5 episodes where Phoebe DOES get premonitions, unless it's S5E6 "The Eyes Have it". Even then, Phoebe be the only one, in the episode actively using her abilities/powers. Piper's exploding power wasn't working properly, and Paige was only travel orbing -_- I do like Baby's First Demon, though. It's just not a "Protect/Save the Innocent(s)" type of episode, though so there you go.
