I didn't enjoy this episode much or this season really.
Compared to original Charmed season 2 which had great stand-alone stories, the power of three and lots of sisterly moments this fails, unfortunately, I mean why have Harry and Macy get together previously only to split up here then?
For all, it's faults season 1 had the bits I did enjoy with the small-town setting, Book of Shadows, guest stars Jada and Niko, and the girls having jobs or college was much better than this.
If the show wants to improve even though it's being touted 4 seasons going the writers need to send the girls back to Hilltown although that likely won't happen, ditch the current storyline and certain characters, and learn from previous Charmed's mistakes not repeat them otherwise people mayn't continue watching the show.

I really enjoyed this season far more than the previous one, but the last episode was unfortunate. I don't like "will they/won't they" subplots that last more than a season, and it looks like that is where they are going with Macy and Harry. So if Maggie really does something as absurd as give into Harry's request (assuming her powers really are as permanent as he's suggesting), then I hope they drop that romance for good. If they are going to drop it, then I would prefer it if Harry and Macy simply drop it without any magical assist. Harry, most of all, should know that these magical shortcuts always backfire in the long run.
Julian is a terrible villain. I wanted for his mother to be the real villain here. She really sells it. I'm not really sure what kind of villain Julian is supposed to be. He acts like he understands that what he's doing is wrong, but he doesn't take any pleasure in it like a proper villain would. While he questions the morality of "the ends justifies the means" methodology of his and his mother's choices, he also doesn't act like he's all torn up about it like a proper anti-villain would. He seems like a psychopath that doesn't realize he's a psychopath. There's no real passion or emotion behind his decisions. Just a guy that set himself a goal, and is just following a lists of steps to achieve said goal. I'm hoping he's just a set up for something better. His type of villainy is often best left as a background villain. That's the type of villain that always shows up when the heroes least expect it to undermine their efforts against bigger more pressing issues. This role is often given to meticulous hawkeyed bureaucrats or nosy law enforcement types. I would prefer if he just goes away entirely though. I hate the meticulous hawkeyed bureaucrats and nosy law enforcement archetype anyways. Anything that disrupts the story too much is generally obnoxious.
I don't get why we wasted so much of this episode with two of the sisters stuck inside a marble. That's something fitting for a filler middle of the season episode. Season finales are supposed to be epic. It feels like there were supposed to be more episodes planned after this one, but something happened. Perhaps due to rising Covid concerns at the time, the team decided to wrap things up early and leave the rest of the work (video editing, last minute additions, etc.) of the final episodes for next season instead of risking the team to complete it for this season.
I'm looking forward for Season 3 anyways.
Edit. I was right. This episode wasn't supposed to be the season finale. They ended things early amidst Covid concerns. That makes me feel better and increases my optimism.

I have just caught up and watched the reboot and I have to say, I'm completely indifferent towards it. There are some interesting elements, particularly in terms of what they do with the shows lore but it doesn't always hit the right notes.
The positives: - Macy. I think she's great. By far the most developed character. Her whole arc, while slightly rushed, has been the most engaging storyline. - The Elders & Whitelighters. What they chose to do these characters is interesting. Being Elder witches is something different and having them (and whitelighters) integrated with the mortal world provides lots of possibilities. Their antagonistic actions seem to be logical, doing what they believe is best for the greater good. It's just a shame they were killed off as quickly as they arrived. - Harry. Look I love Leo, but Harry is a more complex character. - Abigail. I've noticed she doesn't seem particularly popular but for me, she's the best character. - Moral ambiguity. I like how they deal with morality, Macy's "darkness", Abigail, Parker etc it's generally dealt with much better than the OG series. The sisters still have quite a black and white view of good/evil but I like that, means we see character growth as the series progresses.
And the negatives: - Pacing. Everything seems bizarrely rushed. The Elders are introduced then taken out far too quickly. The Source is dealt with by the end of Season 1. Tartarus which seems like it could part of a major storyline is nothing more than a one episode plot. It's all very strange. - Some of the VFX is awful. Makes some of the OG series look cinematic. - Love interest overkill. It's unrealistic that all three sisters constantly have love interests. In less than 50 episodes, Macy and Mel have had 3 love interests each, Maggie and Harry have had 2 (and Harry's a freaking whitelighter!) and most have arguably been serious relationships. - The relationship between the sisters is massively underdeveloped.
Overall, I'm interested to see where they go but I think they've squandered certain opportunities.

Not sure if this is the proper place to ask, but I'm not seeing any further reboot episode discussions. Did we stop this intentionally?

No one was really using them.
I have no idea how many episodes I've missed.

About 43
A friend and I are going to watch/rewatch the series at some point. Thought these threads would be an interesting place for us to discuss after watching, but we'll live without the last 2 seasons' threads! I'm glad these are still here, because it was interesting reading what some of you thought!

That sounds like fun Zachary. I'd love to add my thoughts here when you do.

It's understandable when no-one really watched the reboot that no more threads would be put up obviously but that doesn't mean people can't put down their own reviews of seasons 3 and 4 themselves then.

It's understandable when no-one really watched the reboot that no more threads would be put up obviously but that doesn't mean people can't put down their own reviews of seasons 3 and 4 themselves then. To me, I see a lot of threads that were created more than a decade ago, and may not have had any posts within that thread for years at a time; and I enjoy the ability to pop into those threads from 20 years ago, and contribute to them, as others have done in recent years. Because of that, I would expect that the reboot episode threads would continue, because while they may not be actively used now, they may be actively used 20 years from now. So it's just nice to have
That being said, I completely agree that that more can be made! I noticed these were created by the administrator, and I didn't want to create threads that I wasn't authorized to create! If I'm allowed to, I'd be more than happy to take over when I come across those episodes in the future!

If you wanted zachary you could do your own reviews of seasons 3 and 4 whether that be one thread going over both years or episode threads for either season themselves. As I mentioned previously I didn't watch 3 and 4 but had done 1 and 2 although I have seen YouTube clips of the others of course. Season 4 started to pick up it seems with an ending that could've been explored in the 5th season which never came around.
