Rumours of a reboot with Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano made me think about Victor and Phoebe's relationship on Charmed.
Phoebe had a lot of bad relationships with men or the idea of men, except with Victor.
Obviously different. But let's no forget that Victor left Phoebe and barely knew her growing up.
That's also coupled with not growing up knowing or having memories of her mother like Piper and Prue did.
Also, they got to actually have a some sort of relationship/memory with Victor even if it was resentment from Prue.
-Prue and Victor had a fisty relationship that got better toward the end.
-Piper was neutral towards Victor, more favourable than Prue at least.
-Phoebe always seemed to like her Dad. The used to send letters/cards to each other and I would imagine call - if Grams allowed it
-Paige and Victors relationship was unexplored. It would have been cool to see these two work and get to know each other.
Phoebe seemed to have horrible relationships with men. I wonder if its because she didn't have male role models growing up.
Phoebe on the otherhand HATED Sam in P3H20 and was still a little judgemental toward him in Season 5.

Rebooted nice to see you again, and with a great new topic for discussion. Yeah, good question, I also think Grams had a bad influence on her and her sisters with her hatred of men. But of course, that part of Grams came into effect in S5-S8. But, I do think Phoebe idealized the idea of her father, and missing having a dad. Out of all her sisters, Phoebe seemed to have the best relationship with Victor when he reentered her life. I also felt like they were better off being raised by Victor with a normal childhood, than with Grams. Maybe Phoebe would have turned out differently, if she had Victor in her life, as a male role model growing up. Yeah, the biggest mistake was Paige and Victor, they didn't explore this relationship at all. Victor was present for the funeral of Prue and just disappears. So they meet off-screen between Charmed Again and Marry Go Round. Paige and Victor appear to have a somewhat okay relationship in The Day the Magic Died, and Victor even counted Paige as one of his daughters when they faked their deaths. I still would want to know what kind of relationship they truly had.

Whereas, after Patty died, Grams I feel would be slipping in to their consciousness ideas about witchcraft, good and evil, and probably made Phoebe more active and good at martial arts give Phoebe would have a passive power. Phoebe and Victors relationship was a very interesting one. As well as how close Victor was to Chris. Phoebe and Chris also had a good relationship. Although he would also count as family.

I've always found both Phoebe and Prue's relationship with Victor to be interesting. I can see why Prue hated him, but I think with her headstrong personality and his more easygoing nature, they wouldn't have gotten along anyway. I think they got along okay in season 3 because he still wasn't around that much.
But as for Phoebe, I think not knowing her dad and not growing up with that influence really damaged her. I think she was always seeking out male attention to make up for it, whether she realized it or not. She would have been a much more balanced person, at least as far as her dating life, if she had grown up being raised even partially by her dad.
I also found it interesting how in season 1 she was happy to meet him, and in season 3 she was happy he was around. Yet in season 2, she seemed angry with him. She seemed very self-aware in They're Everywhere when talking with Eric about their fathers, like she was mature enough to see the situation with her dad for what it was, and not hold on to some fantasy about him and his reasons for being gone. And then in a later season 2 episode, she's dismissive and almost hostile at Piper's suggestion that she sign his birthday card, fairly pointing out that he never sends her a card for her birthday.
And then in season 4 and beyond, it's like any relationship an adult woman has with her father. He sees them from time to time, and it isn't a big deal when he shows up. There doesn't seem to be any leftover issues between Victor and anyone.
He didn't make an appearance in season 2, but this was my favorite Victor season because they at least got close to exploring what happened with him, and Phoebe had some very mature and realistic feelings about him.
