I got to thinking today - is telekinesis the most prominent Warren power within the blood line? Here is a list of which known Warren witches possessed which Warren power (TK, freezing, premonitions)
TELEKENESIS
Melinda Warren Brianna (presumedly a Warren) Penny Halliwell Prue Halliwell Paige Matthews Wyatt Halliwell Chris Halliwell Piper's unnamed child from 'Forever Charmed'
FREEZING
Melinda Warren Priscilla Baxter (I decided to include her although her power worked differently) Patty Halliwell Piper Halliwell
PREMONITIONS
Melinda Warren Phoebe Halliwell
*** Patty was able to receive a premonition while pregnant with Phoebe but did not have this power ***
Of course, there are many many Warren witches and we do not know which power they all had. In Morality Bites, did it say which power Melinda Wyatt had? Please let me know if I missed any!
So, why do you think TK is so overrepresented in the Warren line? At the start of the show, it is the strongest offensive power and Prue is heavily relied upon as their only offence. Are the other powers more rare? Or did the writers just decided to give LITERALLY every Warren witch after Prue died TK? TK is also the most prominent power that demons possessed (of the 3 powers anyway). There were 3 seers who had something like premonitions, and no demons ever had freezing...

I actually think it's mostly laziness on the writer's part. TK just comes in handy to show some magic and that even casually, while freezing or promonitions require a more thought-out context (especially prominitions). I also wouldn't necessarily count whitelighterish-influenced powers like that of Paige as "true" TK. Paige doesn't even really move objects, they just kind of disappear and then appear someplace else.

Easiest to show, so everyone gets it. Easiest to film. Cheepest.

The show got so lazy, especially when Phoebe's premonitions were barely used as the show aged, and all they did was use potions or Piper exploded a demon, boring, and too lazy to come up with a Power of Three Spell (the power of three was barely important)
Paige's powers were nothing like Prue's, and I don't even count what she had as any form of TK, even whitelighter based. It wasn't even moving objects with her mind at all period. Her powers felt more like some form of conjuring, just calling an object and it reappears somewhere else.
But, I guess budget also came into play too with why we saw so little of other powers later on and no Power of Three Spells

Paige Orbs but that's about it.

That upsets me to hear, I'll bet budget, but I could sooner, do without Paige orbing every episode, if it helps to allow the other sisters to use their powers more.

Why was her hand gesture for her power the same as Pipers for freezing/blowing up when she had TK?

Yeah, must be the directors prompting her to do it that way, or Kaley was watching Holly too much and copied her style. That is just a guess on my part.

I would believe so. I also believe that Telekensis is a very generic power especially for shows featuring witchcraft or anything supernatural.
I kinda wished they came up with some original powers for the sisters, maybe controlling the elements or something along those lines, just something that wasn't so, predictable? If that's the correct term for it.

If that's the correct term for it. I agree with you! I think telekinesis-orbing was cool and original, and same with Piper's freezing time. I liked how they made the human concept of empathy a power, even though it was extremely short lived. I wonder where they drew inspiration for the original three powers (if any). I think astral projection was cool - I'm not sure if anyone knows, but astral projection is a real concept (at least, as real as you believe it to be). You know that feeling when you are just about to fall asleep and then suddenly awake? In some cultures this is like astral projection - your soul leaving your body and returning. Probably my favorite power in the entire show is deflection, the one we saw Natalie's charge use. It would have been cool if one of the sisters had this - there is also lots of opportunity for this to grow to be more powerful (maybe a deflection shield or better mastery of where you can reflect things at/to). It would have been cool if Prue had gotten this power instead - I think it makes sense given she was often the "protector" of them as the eldest sister.

I would love to know why they chose those three powers other than the countless of other powers they could have chosen. I also would have loved if the powers had remained neutral. If I could have chosen any of Phoebe's secondary powers to have returned/remained I would have picked Empathy. I love the Astral Projection power as well. I also loved the deflection power and believed that Prue would be the person I would have given it too. Telekenic-orbing was very unique and I appreciated the effort it took to make something boring into something exciting.

We have a minimum of 5, not including what we would have considered to be basic powers. If you would like I can discuss what powers we would have liked the sisters to have and what we would want if these powers existed in real life?

I'll see if I can find the notebook for the Halliwell sisters, however for the Rose sisters, (myself and my younger sister) this is what we would have: Shared powers: - Spell writing - Potion making - Scrying - Telepathy Alice: - Necromancy - Resurrection - Teleportation (through ashes) My sister: - Invisiblity - Flying - Time manipulation My sister and I really liked the whole speaking to the dead and anything to do with death for me, however, I believe (as well as my sister) that her powers should be random, they shouldn't really flow.

This is super cool! Resurrection and necromancy was often associated with evil in Charmed. However, in American Horror Story: Coven, there is a powerful witch named Misty who can bring people back from the dead as well as heal injuries. Really cool! They should have just given one of the sisters in Charmed this power since they regularly died and came back to life. Since dying was already not a real threat (unless you are Prue) it would have been easier to do this than have them do a million other things that always resulted in them coming back to life.

Thank you, maybe Paige should have been given this ability since she was a white lighter, I hate that powers even had an alignment because it would be interesting to see if the sisters would gain an "evil" power. Either resurrection or illusions because while using either or both powers could result in creating a perfect plan.

The show sortof didn't utilize warlocks or evil witches much. But to my knowledge, powers didn't have an alignment, other than Whitelighters powers - because these were given to people after death. But in terms of witches, I think they sortof freely had the choice to 'decide' whether how they would use their powers. But I think I know what you mean - certain powers were associated with good or evil. Like how throwing fire was usually considered evil - because I guess fire is an evil element (haha)? And how demons didn't orb, they were blinking or flaming or shimmering etc. Another example is Aviva's power in The Fourth Sister - the melting power, it was given by the demon, and I guess it allegedly worked similarly to Pipers power. When Phoebe was throwing fire, Leo told her it was "an upper-level demonic power", but why couldn't this have been good in another circumstance? Off the top of my head, the powers that were shown going either way (and neutral in some cases) were: premonitions, telekinesis, rewinding time (only shown as evil and neutral - the Cleaners, the Avatars, Tempest), conjuring, freezing time (I'm not sure if what the Avatars and the Triad could do constitute the same as Pipers...) and there are probably more. Why were these powers dualistic, balanced, whereas others were one sided?
