This is big for me - after years of resisting, I am finally here to share my first fan fiction. I have a bunch of notes and will be posting as I complete the story. This first part is Kyra's back story - what led her to the Charmed Ones. Rather than posting the universe changes, please assume you know nothing about season seven, particularly the Avatar storyline. All characters are not mine, but are played by the same performers (I can't imagine anyone else playing Kyra, I absolutely loved Charisma Carpenter in Charmed). I will say please assume the following:
Please assume the episodes are the same with the following changes:
1. Kyra does NOT appear in Cheaper by the Coven or Styx Feet Under. This fanfic is going to be the first time we see her. 2. This story is meant to replace "Witchiness Protection and the following Avatar/Kyle related episodes instead of the ones that do follow.
I would love to receive constructive criticism for this as it is my first ever fan fiction.
So, without further adieu... Here is the prologue of my fanfic!

PROLOGUE
Kyra, a half demon half witch, served The Source for several months in the year 2001 - she was his Seer before the Oracle took over. Kyra knew the Oracle - the Seer’s tended to run in circles due to the fact that most of the demonic world didn’t trust them, as they were so powerful and often had ulterior motives.
During her time serving the Source, Kyra was given a gift by him - or so she thought. The Source told her about a group of powerful beings called the Avatars - a collection of like minded individuals who had no magical alignment, but had their own agenda brewing that would cost her her life. The Source told Kyra that the Avatars murdered her mother who was a witch. They did this to steal her powers - Kyra’s mother was a good witch who was targeted her whole life by demons who wanted her powerful gift of premonition. The Source told her they absorbed her power into the collective and used it for their own benefit. They sounded evil. Kyra had only heard stories from demons about how it was impossible to steal her mother's powers - she saw everything coming. She was one step ahead of everyone - some say she was the most powerful good witch until the Charmed Ones surfaced.
Kyra was devastated by this news. Her whole life she had searched for the demon that killed her mother - only it wasn’t a demon at all. Kyra could not receive a vision of the Avatars when she tried - and she tried a lot. This had happened before, and it always meant there was other magic interfering. It was a rare occurrence, but other demons in the past had been able to block her from seeing them or their future - most notably, the demon Tempest. His ability to manipulate time blocked her from seeing his future - only able to see his past, which was pretty useless.
So, Kyra decided she needed to find out for herself. She decided to leave. She knew the Source would have another Seer or Oracle in minutes after discovering her gone. This was because he needed a Seer - someone who could give him information on his enemies, both good and evil. But he would also be outraged at her leaving - so she planted a premonition for his next Seer. She didn’t know who it would be, but it didn’t matter. She was one of the most powerful Seers in the underworld and felt confident a planted, fake premonition would fool almost any one… So she planted a vision of her being vanquished by the Charmed Ones. Kyra had picked up a few things about potion making from her witch side - she made the best explosive potion she could and threw it near her table, where her and the Source would meet. It left only the smallest of scorch marks - not perfect, but it would have to do. She removed her cloak, put it behind the scorch marks and planted the premonition in the cloak. She shimmered out (the only demonic power she inherited from her father) in search for the Avatars.
Little did she know that the next time she shared a premonition would be with Phoebe Halliwell, a Charmed One.

Later that night, The Source entered the Seers lair to seek information about Zankou, a demon he banished and vanquished who’s name had been popping up in demonic fringe circles. Facing Zankou once was enough - he was too cunning and powerful to resurface.
He found the Seer’s lair empty. He saw the small scorch marks and was confused. He immediately called Shax - his right hand man and frequent hit man. “Find me another Seer” he snarled at Shax. With a gust of wind, Shax had gone.
Shax returned several minutes later with the Oracle - she bowed before the Seer. “What happened here?” he said through his teeth. The Oracle approached the scorch marks and grasped Kyra’s cloak in her hands. She gasped and dropped it. “The Charmed Ones” said the Oracle. “They were here not long ago”.
Kyra’s vision had worked on the Oracle - a much less powerful being than her. The Source grabbed the Oracle by the throat, his white hands and black nails sinking into her skin. “You’re lying” hissed the Source. “I tell you only what I see” gasped the Oracle. The Source screamed, and threw her across the room. How could the Charmed Ones have defeated the Seer? How could she have not saw it coming?
He paced around the room as the Oracle crawled to his feet and bowed. “I can serve you well” she said quietly. The Source glared at her in disgust. He turned to leave the room. On his way out he quickly turned and spat “you’re hired” and left. The Oracle collapsed to the ground and breathed heavily.
“Kyra…” she said.

Kyra searched for years and could not find the Avatars. One thing she knew for sure - they were very old, and very powerful. More powerful than the Source - more powerful than the Elders. What were they trying to do? She wanted answers. She wanted vengeance - vengeance was a non magical power she inherited from her demon father, the man who raised her before he went missing. He was always into something evil and always expected the last time she saw him to be the last. In her service to the Source, he would sometimes tell her she reminded him of her father. She hated that.
Four years of searching, and Kyra gave up her search. Either the Avatars didn’t exist, or they couldn’t be found. If she couldn’t find them, who could? This was a path she just could not take right now - at least until the Avatars resurfaced. She knew she could not return to the underworld - she would be killed for her crimes against the Source.
Kyra moved to a remote town in Victoria, British Columbia. An island - somewhere the Source or other demons would never look for her. Kyra liked it because it reminded her of San Fransisco - warm climate, the ocean, no snow, lots of nature. For the next year she tried to live as a mortal. She did regular things - went grocery shopping, spent time in nature, and even dated. But something felt empty - she was living a lie. She had grown to hate the fact that she was half demon. She could not truly relax - if she let her psychic block down for a minute, the Source could find her. She hadn’t even used her powers in years - she was too afraid that if she used them she would be discovered. But she wasn’t happy. Maybe she would never be.

Then it happened. On an ordinary Saturday in September, it happened.
She was exiting her room after spending twenty minutes deciding what to wear. All her time as a demon had killed her fashion sense - so much black, so many capes and robes… She had finally settled on a crimson dress and was putting on gold earrings as she left her room and saw a woman with long, dark hair, dark skin, and a black jacket that went to the ground.
“I’ve been expecting you” the woman said cooly. “Have a seat.”
“Umm… you do know this is my apartment, right?” said Kyra. And she knew - her powers told her this woman was an Avatar. They had not only uncloaked their shield, but now one of them was appearing before her. She had spent so many years trying to find them that she was now at a loss for words because they found her. She sat down on her love seat. “Who are you?” She said.
“I am Alpha, an Avatar - but you already knew that” said Alpha.
“Yeah I knew but I didn’t KNOW, you know?” said Kyra. She was using humour because she felt so uncomfortable and in shock - this is another non magical power she got from her mother not her father.
Alpha took a deep breath and said “The Source you served is dead. He was vanquished by the Charmed ones years ago. We need you Kyra”. Kyra’s heart sank - were they coming to steal her powers, just like her mothers? She had no way of defending herself. The few potions she still had were in the kitchen - she would have to go through Alpha to get to them. She didn’t even know if potions would work against them. She suddenly got very scared - she was going to shimmer out. But where?
“You don’t need to leave Kyra - we have never been and will never be a threat to you.” Aplha said with an eerie calmness to her voice. She probably knew she couldn’t be vanquished - or killed - by Kyra.
“But the Source said!”
“The source is a liar” interrupted Alpha. “He never thought you’d leave. He thought telling you your mother was killed by us would make you want to kill us - that’s what he wanted. He saw us as a threat, a danger. We are not a danger to anyone - not the Source, not you.”
Kyra wondered if Alpha was using her mothers premonition power, the one they stole from her, to see what the Source had told her some years ago.
“We have never killed for power - not demons, not witches. We do not need powers - we have enough. Our magic is old and comes from a different place. We’ve never had any interest in hurting anyone. If you don’t trust me, trust your power” said Alpha as she held out her hands.
Kyra rose and grabbed Alpha’s hands. She didn’t know why she did it - but she felt she needed to. One thing Kyra did do was trust her powers - she had never been fooled. Her powers were the one thing that never failed her.
Even before she grabbed Alpha’s hands, she began seeing. She saw a schoolground with a green field. A little girl ran up to a woman she thought looked familiar, but she wasn’t paying attention to her. She couldn’t stop staring at this little girl - she was Kyra’s daughter. Her daughter. She was human. Kyra had never thought about having kids, because she knew they would come out demonic like she did. Through the premonition, Kyra felt tears running down her face. How could this be her future? She forgot all about the Source. She felt the truth in Alpha’s vision she shared - she knew this power was not a witch power, it did not come from her mother. It came from somewhere else… a power she had neve felt. It both scared and excited her. She lost concentration as she heard the child call out “Mommy!” And the vision ended.
Kyra was in shock - where was she in this vision? If this little girl was her daughter, why was she calling out Mommy? She blurted out “How can you show me my daughters future if I’m NOT IN IT!” and the tears turned from happy to sad. She fell to the floor, at Alpha’a knees, her face buried in her hands.
“Go to The Charmed Ones. They keep the destiny you seek. Find them through their... whitelighter” Alpha said with a smile. “Ask them for the protection you need. Help them, and they will help you and your future daughter” and Alpha vanished.
Kyra sat there on the floor - so many emotions in such a small amount of time. What was happening?
Immediately she rose and threw her hair back. She took down her psychic block, and saw the Charmed Ones whitelighter. Leo. She found out a lot about the sisters this way, but not Leo - she wondered why she couldn’t see more of him but shrugged it off as she called for him. She wanted to bring him to her, she needed to find out this truth - a truth she never thought would happen. A daughter. It was risky of her to do this she thought. What if a demon sensed her? She didn't care. Kyra realized that she wasn't waiting all these years for the Avatars, she had given that up long ago. Now she just wanted to be happy - she didn't care what it looked like, she just wanted to find meaning to honour her mother. To be a mother.
Within seconds, Leo orbed into her apartment. She had to do or say anything she could to get him to bring her to the power of three, to the Charmed Ones. She told him she was half witch, half demon. She told him she knew about the Avatars - about upper level demons. She told him she could help them but needed protection - if she resurfaced from hiding, the underworld would want her dead. She used the knowledge she had gained as a demon as collateral - as a means to an end. Sure, she could help them with this stuff. But she needed to know about her future. About her daughter.
Leo said with a smile “let me go check with the Elders” and Kyra rolled her eyes "Come on, this is a pretty good deal for you" - there was her token humour again, apparently lost on Leo. I guess they wanted to check her out - but when they did, they would know about her good witch mother. They would know she had never directly killed an innocent - her power couldn’t kill. She hoped that would be enough. He orbed out and left her pacing, until she finally fell asleep on the love seat.

The next day Leo returned in a swirl of white light. “They’ve agreed to have the Charmed Ones guard you. Come with me.”
She ran to him. She clutched onto his hand as Leo orbed out of her apartment. As the swirls of orbs flickered, she thought about her life. She thought about how she’s never been happy. Did she finally have the chance to enjoy the good things in life? And finally, she thought about her daughter. She needed to be there for her, the way her mother wasn’t. She wanted a family, love - she wanted life.
