The Fourth Sister 4. Sin Francisco 5. Death Takes a Halliwell I have such a love-hate relationship with Sin Fransisco. I do think it is a particularly bad episode for most - Piper is my favourite in this one - I think it's because the sin that affected her was the most "opposite" of her personality, moreso than Prue or Phoebe. It would have been more interesting to see Prue be infected with Lust and Phoebe with Pride. |

It would have been more interesting to see Prue be infected with Lust and Phoebe with Pride. That would have been pretty different to see them infected that way. Would be a change for Phoebe to be taking charge, and Prue to not care and be in lust. Yeah, I like Sin Fransisco, just didn't like Prue in this one, and what she was starting to become ever since Just Harried. |

The thing is I didn't really notice Prue's pride until Season Three when Kern made it so noticeable which is when I stopped liking her - for me, it's for Prue what 'Sleuthing with the Enemy' is for Phoebe. That's why I don't count 'Sin Francisco' as one of my least-favorite episodes for her. Except for that, it's one of my favorite episodes like most of the comedic ones are - just not for Prue.

Prue at her best was Prue helping people (in my view). Like when she was helping the man find his missing daughter who was killed by the pawn shop owner, or helping Max Franklin, or helping Bo. It brought out a totally different and more gentle side to Prue - but I think Kern really wanted her to be the type of Prue we saw in the episodes you referenced. |

I completely agree, I loved Prue when she was helping all of those peoples, and I also liked when Phoebe did that as well, I like when Piper did it too, but sadly Piper didn't get enough chances to showcase that, because her storylines always centered more on who she was in a relationship with, while the other sisters were the ones helping innocents and people. But when she did, she was great especially in Season 1 and 2. I think that is how Kern thought the older sister should act and what Prue was starting to become in S3 and what she would have turned into more if Prue didn't die (why I'm glad she died when she did). Although, I wouldn't be surprised if Shannen had some input as well, and by watching that early flashback video that TMC shared in 1998, I was shocked to learn what Holly and Shannen wanted for their characters and for using their powers for personal gain. That was real eye opening, that I'm really not surprised S5-S8 Piper and Phoebe used personal gain so often when Holly and Alyssa became producers, especially since that is what Holly wanted as far back as when the show started. |

I'm interested in why everyone hates Prue in Dream Sorcerer. Considering I found it to be Phoebe at her worst in the Pre-PhoeMe era. She pulled a PhoeMe move in that episode. I also found Prue's reasoning in Just Harried to be relatable as well.
As for me. My Prue episode rankings would be.

Maybe it's not Prue in it that we hate, just the episode all along. I hate it because it scares me half-to-death and it still does each time I re-watch it. Funny, I don't remember what Phoebe does that you don't like. My issue is the love spell Phoebe and Piper cast in the episode that basically turns men into sex slaves. Its basically early seasons version of Prince Charmed. The plot where Piper and Phoebe cast a love spell to get guys whereupon Phoebe does find a guy and gloats about having sex with him repeatedly (which is essentially rape). The lesson of that plot is that “you can’t use magic to find love because it’s not real” with no acknowledgement over the fact they were exploiting men for own pleasure. What makes it even worse is that the main plot is about a male sexual predator, which is rightfully treated as creepy and wrong. It kinda comes off as a double standard. This is something PhoeMe would do, not Phoebe, which is why I consider it her worse of the Pre-Cole era. |
