In season 2 the show constantly changed things around and tried out new ideas (the club, Jenny, Dan, bringing back Leo, Prue's career switch). Some of it would stick, some of it wouldn't. But does anybody know what the original idea was behind Jack? I mean, there's a whole stoy arc of Prue warming up to him and finally giving in and then he gets dumped for some random and pretty silly reason! I can't believe that's what they had in mind for him from the very beginning. So what's the deal?
Personally, I think it would've made more sense if Prue had ended things after Jack got targeted by some demon, because she didn't want him to get hurt like Andy. She could also have quit her job after that because she couldn't handle the pressure of a corporate job anymore.
I was wondering the same thing about Jenny. Somehow I feel she was supposed to find out their secret and perhaps learn a little magic herself?

I don't know if Jack was destined to have a larger story. I kind of liked how simple it was, actually. It would have gotten a bit old for me if every love interest eventually ended up in danger.
And I've read before that Jenny was potentially going to be another witch and the sisters were going to be like mentors to her. It's a fun idea, but I didn't like Jenny enough for it and I think it's too soon in their journey as witches.
And I like the idea of Prue quitting her job because of corporate pressure. That could be linked up with her desire to do something different in life as well. Her reason for quitting in the show was that the auction house had lost its morality, but she doesn't then go to another corporate job. They could have had season 2 be all about that kind of world beginning to be a drag and really wearing on her, and she decides over a long arc that she wants to do something different with her life.

I don't necessarily mean he would've had a extended storyline. I mean, the actor seems to have had a contract for only a limited amount of episodes. Jack definitely seems like a guy Prue would only have a fun fling with, but I just get the feeling they had a different idea and ending for him in mind. Instead, things between them ended so abruptly and it made him look like a jerk, even though it turned out he wasn't the jerk Prue believed he was when she first met him.
I agree the sisters mentoring a young witch would've been way too early. And Jenny was rather annoying as well.
See, a story arc like that for Prue would've made much more sense! I'd also make her an ART photographer, because she may hate the corporate world, but she still loves art.

I agree with you as well, them mentoring a young witch was too early in the series, they didn't even know what they were doing half the time, let alone trying to teach someone. I also agree that Jenny was annoying, I would hate it if they had to spend all their time saving her because she wouldn't listen to them, she didn't even listen when it came towards her not going to Piper's club. That would have been interesting for Prue rather than being a freelance photographer she was an art photographer, I love that, maybe working at a gallery, kind of like Charlotte York (Sex And The City) style.

I also liked Prue in more of a corporate environment. They could have made her loosen up in terms of personality without having her job be so opposite to what it started out as. Prue in more of a professional role makes sense even if they decide to not make her as tightly wound as we saw at the beginning.

I liked how the sisters each had a different, but realistic professional life. And I just don't see Prue change that much over night. She wasn't exactly fickle. I did love Phoebe going back to college, that made so much sense.

they didn't even know what they were doing half the time, let alone trying to teach someone. Lol, that's so true. I do wish they had given Jenny one final storyline in order for a proper send-off. I just hate when shows start something and then don't finish it.

What storyline would you have wanted for her final scenes? Difficult to say, since I'm not a writer. I guess I'd liked to have seen something based on what their original plans were for her. Or maybe her parents come to San Francisco and she and the Charmed Ones team up to save them from evil. So she finds out their secret before leaving town.

I like that you put down that she finds out their secret. I have wondered recently how would they have written her to be a witch.

I think Jack was a means to an end, for Prue. He was to help her be "less serious" and "more fun" and "outgoing" which she did become, in S2. But, it felt like Jack's influence was all for not, by the time S3 rolled around, and she reverted back to being "super serious". Though, I still like S3 Prue, the best.
