I think seeing her future in Mortality Bites had a negative impact on her, she says: If I die, my tombstone will read: Here lies Prue, she worked hard. You can see how hurt and horrified she is because of how her life turned out, no partner, no children, firing people and belittling people. This isn’t who Prue is, she states she’d be a great mother one day and wants love. I think leaving Bucklands was really healthy for her, she actively wanted to change her future for the better and picked up a passion she followed as a young person. I personally love it! Good point about Prue seeing her future in Morality Bites having a negative impact on her and how it horrified and hurt her. Right? You could see how it impacted her so much, she was so hurt and horrified so she decided to switch her life up dramatically so she doesn't end up like she did in the 2009 future. Seeing as I am doing a rewatch of S2, Piper clearly states that Prue never really wanted to work at Bucklands and she only did so to support Grams, Piper and the running of the household. Piper says that Prue in college and coming out of it wanted to be a photojournalist and wanted to win a prize for this career pathway as well, so I personally don't see Prue being a photographer is out of character or weird. I do think instead of just photography she could have just moved into being a photojournalist and followed her dream/passion.

She worked at the museum with Roger and ended up quitting that job in the pilot. And auditioned to work at Buckland's in S1E2 "I've Got You Under My Skin" and ended up getting the job which kick started S1E3 "Thank You For Not Morphing". She did express in S1E2 "I've Got You Under My Skin" that she DID want the job, at Buckland's, during her interview with Rex, when Rex was giving her a hard time about her demeanor. Even so, let's say we drop Buckland's, I still wanted something of her gift of historical artifact knowledge. Even if she's gonna do photography, I was hoping it was to photograph ancient relics or something, so I can hear her babble about its history. But no, even THAT part of her was gone.

Oh, that's right. It was the museum first with Roger, I haven't seen S1 for awhile so bare with me~! But yes, that is correct. But still it was stated from Piper in S2 that it wasn't what she really wanted to do and Prue even confirms this when she leaves Bucklands to Jack. So I feel like, Prue being who she is, she really did put her passion and dreams on the backburner and while you could see she enjoyed her job and historical artifact knowledge, she just needed a change and I suppose wanted to follow a new passion and dream. Lots of people do it and change careers, it's a thing. We do see her use her knowledge once again in S3, but how often could you really use it in general conversation, like?

Yes, but those changes are to be slow and gradual and not a complete 100% change. There's always still remnants of the old person slipping out. That being said, where in S3 did she use her historical artifact knowledge? And, again, I JUST said, she could've used her photography to photograph historical artifacts and babble about them. You would think she'd be able to have SOME knowledge about the genie bottle, they received in S2E22 "Be Careful What You Witch For". Like, how she gave information regarding their father's ring in S1E3 "Thank You For Not Morphing", the Priest's dagger/athame from S1E6 "The Wedding from Hell", the urn from S1E11 "Feats of Clay", the painting in S2E3 "The Painted World" and the wand in S2E6 "That Old Black Magic". They can sneak in some historical artifact stuff in S3, like how S3E5 "Sight Unseen" remembered her photography. Perhaps, some historical contents about the essence bottle from S3E9 "Coyote Piper". More about the athame in S3E11 "Blinded by the Whitelighter" (as seen in S1E6 "The Wedding from Hell"). Perhaps, there's SOME historical link to the sin box, in S3E18 "Sin Francisco". Not asking her to give a full monologue, just SOMETHING, to remind the audience of her gift, in historical artifact knowledge.

I suppose I see your point in having the passion and career move through a more slower process but they just didn’t do it that way, sadly. I believe it was All Halliwells Eve where Prue identified the time period that they were in. So I think that is the only real time in S3 where she uses her knowledge. I agree, there was opportunities for them to sneak in some historical information or links into a few episodes into S3 but sadly they didn’t.

Good point about S3E4 "All Halliwell's Eve", though. Still, wished it was used more than that. Because of this conversation, gives me a poll idea

Right? You could see how it impacted her so much, she was so hurt and horrified so she decided to switch her life up dramatically so she doesn't end up like she did in the 2009 future. Prue could've gone back to the museum and become a museum photographer or a job that links both photography and her artifact and history knowledge together.

Aw didn't mean to make you feel that way! I was just providing reasons why I'm disappointed in the direction of the Prue character. Which I mostly blame Shannen, TBH. IDC if Kern "approved" anything, ultimately the ideas came from Shannen. Part of the reason I'm against actors trying to take charge of things. Anyway, here's the link to that poll: thecharmedcafe.proboards.com/post/521930/thread

Anyhoot, I linked that poll for ya and would love to hear your thoughts on a more positive topic

I liked the idea of her owning Buckland, as we saw in the alternate timeline. For as hard as she worked there in mainstream timeline, & she worked with integrity, she deserved to come out on top. I also loved Prue's fashion sense & wardrobe when she worked at Buckland. I would have loved to see her be the owner of it in the mainstream continuity, but not at the expense of her personal & social life.
Alternatively, if she had been able to become a top curator at the most high profile/prestigious museum in her area

Reading through this thread, I've found yet another reason for wishing my favorite episode, 'Morality Bites', never aired. Before it was because seeing Melinda made Piper choose a man who could never give her the normal life she wanted so badly, but now I agree that it was probably why Prue quit a job that fit her so well and took one that didn't.
If my episode had to air as is, I find myself wishing they had both still done that, but before the end of S2, both would admit that this just wasn't working, and Prue would let photography become just a hobby, while finding a profession that fits her, while Piper would break up with Leo, go back to just cooking, not owning, and there find a non-magical man who could give her that normal life and Melinda, not the Twice-Blessed Brat. This Melinda might have a different father, but only one Warren power.
I think both sisters would be happier that way.
