Casting is currently underway for the new Vera sister vimeo.com/580145838 vimeo.com/580815831Some observations: She has the power to phase? Not sure if that will be final power or if they will do more with it since Im guessing it needs to be something more active. They are using Maggie AGAIN as the sister that connects to the new sister? Deja vu.

A friend today shared this with me about Season 4. This show struggles to keep showrunners. deadline.com/2021/08/charmed-jeffrey-lieber-joey-falco-nicki-renn-season-4-showrunners-1234823341/I didn't mind the change between seasons 1 and 2. In fact, I found season 2 stronger than season 1 probably because of the change of showrunner. The whole tone of the show changed. But changing showrunners again isn't great. The series hasn't been going on long enough like Supernatural did to warrant constant changes of showrunners.

Unfortunately, I can't see the two Vimeo pages. Not sure if things have been taken down. Maybe things are changing again with the change of showrunners.

The series hasn't been going on long enough like Supernatural did to warrant constant changes of showrunners. Hopefully they get it right, but that's far too many showrunner changes and its only been three years.
As you put it Lexi, Supernatural went on a long time, so that makes sense. But The reboot only three years in, and already is on showrunner number 3, is not going to body well for the show.
It's too bad, the actress playing the older half sister didn't stick it out, who I heard was not happy with the writing under the now old showrunners.
I don't know if this show will survive much longer. Isn't it getting a reduced episode order to 10-13 episodes. If it is the last one, seems like a waste bringing in a new Charmed One (but I'm sure they are going into this not thinking that). It will just leave things rushed. Unless CW has so much faith in this show.

Madeleine Mantock has also managed to score a role on London's West End, and I'm so excited for her for that. I interviewed the whole cast at NYCC the year Charmed debuted on The CW and she is a beautiful soul so I only wish her the best for her career. But I wouldn't be surprised if it was the writing. Her character went from being this woman who was career driven and smart to someone all about love, and I hate when TV shows do that to female characters. It never happens to male characters.
It will likely be reduced to 13 episodes because it's moving to the midseason lineup. That's not too surprising considering the mess the pandemic made and the fact that The CW didn't try to keep a traditional schedule in the way other networks did. While FOX held its fall programming to January, it opted for shortened seasons to still wrap in May, whereas The CW ran fall programming into the summer and that's messed up summer programming and now fall programming.
Once a show gets past the first season, The CW tries to keep a show on the air until syndication, which is now 88 episodes rather than the 100-episode mark it used to be. With a 13-episode season, we're looking at 72 episodes, so I have a feeling Charmed will be renewed for Season 5 with 16 episodes or so and then be canceled. And to be honest, a five-season run now is really good for a show. (A lot of shows are canceled after two or three seasons, even streaming shows don't last all that long because of the way the payment model works. That's a lot to get into though!)
That being said, the show is good for Friday nights for CW numbers. Dynasty has been going on with its ridiculously low numbers because of the deal with Netflix. Charmed has a similar deal, so it could be saved because it is still bringing in enough money for The CW. The network is a child network of CBS, so there's a little extra leeway.
The CW is also good at giving final season orders now. So, if Charmed is canceled, I think we'll end up hearing that it's a final season order just to wrap the story up.
Sorry if that's really confusing or a lot of info to take in. I work in entertainment journalism and have got used to trying to figure out if shows will be canceled from one season to the next.
