Does anyone like this episode? It's my FAVORITE S1 episode, and I haven't seen any threads talking about it. I've seen it ranked in some people's lists as an "aight" episode. So, I'm hoping to see, if I'm just alone in praising this episode LOL
I like it because instead of Andy being antagonistic towards the sisters, during this episode but an ally, and it was a blast watching him team up with them to fight evil. Too bad it was short lived. I guess that's why I hold this episode in such high regards. It's a rare moment, when Andy is helping them. But, anyway, thoughts?

Although not my absolute favorite number 1. It was a taste of how Andy could work if he lived. They waited too long for it. Do you think Andy would've offered more long-term than Darryl. Seeing how Darryl was very underused. Where do you see Andy going during S2 if he lived.

I love this episode too. Prue, Phoebe, and Andy have great chemistry together and they each play such a vital part in solving the mystery. Andy has the connection to the cop world but is at a clear disadvantage with the ghost. Prue and Phoebe don't have his real world police skills, but they are experts in the magical aspect of things.
Plus I love Prue and Phoebe paired up. They make such a great team and I think they're more similar than they realize, which is why they argue so much.
I really wish Andy had lived and we had more episodes like this. I'd love to see it be the sisters working with Darryl and Andy instead of Leo and Cole.

I love it too, Prue and Phoebe are my favorite duo as witches. I just think Phoebe is wrong in the episode. Even if the ending is very satisfying.

I think this episode would've worked better if it had been aired earlier. The relationship between Prue and Phoebe feels more like it did at the beginning before they became close. I do like the relationship between Prue and Andy, but again I wish it had happened sooner. Because I feel like it's badly placed, it's not amongst my favorite episodes and not amongst my favorite S1 episodes. Had it been one of the first aired S1 episodes, it may have been one of my favorites.

I wrote this about three years ago, and IDK if I feel the same way, anymore. I still like it, yes but with my new obsession in wanting ALL three sisters to be using their abilities in the same episode, this isn't one of them.
Though, it does contain my favorite sister pair, from the Prue Era via Phoebe & Prue, it's an interesting episode to show how sidelined Piper really was in S1.

Maybe that's why his death hits harder, because he dies basically a couple of episodes after he finally got clued in on everything. He had so much potential as a character. Prue and Phoebe were a great pair. Shannen and Alyssa have great chemistry as sisters on-screen (I always disregard how they are in real life, but I just love them together so much). I've noticed just how much more these two seem to share the screen-time in many episodes without Piper present. I know its he most evident in S1. But even so, she's often side-lined with her own love life storylines in S2 & S3 with Prue and Phoebe off doing something else, especially after Piper got married to Leo.

I loved it growing up and I still do!
There's quite an extensive list of aspects I consider when I think of the episode.
There's something about a good contrasting sibling dynamic represented on television that just absorbs my attention, and seeing that with Prue and Phoebe was very satisfying. Here we have the oldest sister- hard working, high stressed, financially responsible. Then we have the youngest sister- Not working, carefree, and financially dependent. They butt heads a few times during the season, but it came to a boiling point in this episode.
The extent of their relationship issues weren't just a theme or television "gag", it was a deep-rooted subject that was addressed and mostly resolved in "The Power of Two". Not gonna get into the details of what layers were peeled back for Prue and Phoebe during this episode, we all saw it, but the argument that comes to a common-ground resolution was very well-written, relatable, and felt like taking a deep breath.
I love a eerie ghost story that leaves me feeling like I need to look over my shoulder when I'm alone, and this episode nailed it with having the ghost of an Alcatraz inmate- not to mention I love the writers utilized the concept, because how could you NOT?
The writing was superb. One major character was missing, and the episode is so gorgeously-paced that you don't even miss her.
Also, can we get a standing ovation for Phoebe's premonition growth this episode? and the practicing of her powers? Love that type of writing that we never see again for this character.
Despite some of the back-end production team not wanting the show to emulate a "cop show", I LOVE seeing Andy and Darryl being inspectors, getting handed these cases, and trying to decipher them. This episode was beautiful in the fact that we saw Andy and Prue actually working this case together! Then we even have Phoebe's "I have a power, too, y'aknow?" and having that empathic premonition.
Last but not least, Prue warning Andy while he's trying to resuscitate her- and him actually hearing/feeling/sensing that warning was immaculate.

I loved when the show blended real world and fantasy. The dynamics with Andy/Darryl and cases solved the non magical way always added a sense of realism to the show. It balanced the show in a way that we never saw again after S1. Darryl didn't cut it. He was irrelevant in the show with less importance to cases other than give the Halliwells information. I almost wish they added Henry earlier and let him be Darryl's new partner. It would've given Darryl someone to interact with who isn't magical and give him more screentime. The Prue and Andy connection was very interesting. I wonder if they would've explored that more if he lived. Like you said, he sensed and heard her when she was a ghost. Him telling Piper that his mom used to say seeing talking to yourself was having an interesting conversation with someone in Dead Man Dating. Maybe that hinted his mother saw ghosts and Andy could too not see them but sense/hear. I mean he sensed and heard ghost Prue. Maybe we would've leaned into that and his family in S2.

The one Power of Two episode I would have loved to see is Prue and Paige battling a demon; the two telekinetic sisters battling a force of evil.
With Prue being so advanced in Telekinesis and Paige being jealous of her oldest sister, throughout the episode she makes self-deprecating humour, something Prue doesn't like and actively notes it, she starts to understand that Paige is overworking herself in witchcraft to try to be at Prue's level, something that Prue understands and acknowledges but doesn't like the way Paige is killing herself to be the best.
The episode ends with Prue saying "you don't need my praise, you don't need to keep comparing yourself to me, you are Paige, you are a Halliwell, you are my sister." Then Prue leaves to go back into the afterlife with Grams and Patty.
