Okay so I love Paige, I really do but how do you think the series would progress if the original power of three was never broken? I know many ask what if Phoebe or Piper died instead of Prue but what if none of them died?

If they continued with the same storyline, I think Prue would realize that Cole now has the Source's powers. Unlike with Paige, her sisters would believe her. They'd figure a way to separate Cole from the Source's powers. The Angel of Destiny would show up; they'd decide to give up their powers and live normal lives, with Leo giving up his powers so he and Piper can have a normal life. He'd become a true handyman while Cole would go back to being a lawyer. They'd find out that both Piper and Phoebe are pregnant and that would be the end of the show.
What would happen to their kids would be shown in the spin-off.
How's that?

I really like that, Es. Mostly because it would allow the show to end with four or five seasons and not go on for too long, and not destroy any characters.
If Prue survived, though, I could definitely see her figuring out Cole becoming the Source. If Phoebe or Piper died instead, I think I could see Prue going off the rails a little for a while in grief. She'd blame herself. I could see Prue really working through the stages of grief (although that would have required a good showrunner to allow the writers to develop that storyline).

I think the season would have been similar. However, Brad Kern wanted The Source to die in the finale, and Season 5 to focus on Cole the Source. Maybe the show wouldn't have lost viewers and the WB wouldn't ask for a season 5 with independent episodes. So we would have season 4 (episode 1 to 13) season 5 (14 to 22). But if Shannen wanted to quit after season 4 then maybe she would be killed by the source and the vibe would be like episode 100. Piper alone and Phoebe trapped with Cole.

That would be perfect, and I'd love a four season series, with a spin-off, and the time for that would be now about 16-20 years after it ended in 2002 (if it lasted four seasons).

If Shannen wanted to leave after S4, I feel Holly would follow. She wanted too but was under contract when Shanenn was fired. She said she started it with Shannen, and I feel she might have left too. However, if things were good with Shannen and she left after S4 gracefully, maybe she'd convince Holly to stay on, and Shannen agrees to guest star in S5 and direct episodes.
I can see Prue being killed by the Source, or even killed in the blast when they try to vanquish the Source.

I kind of see it playing out somewhat the same way as it did the only thing changing is that it would be Prue instead of Paige. I do however think they would have killed the Source sooner and then the underworld being taken over by the Seer or even his right-hand man Shax or maybe even one of the Charmed Ones themselves as the power jumped into one of them. In this way I see it as being Pheobe as she had the most 'evil' past instead of just following Cole into it though... maybe if that happened it would still play out the way it did just with the roles somewhat reversed. Cole King of the underworld Phoebe queen but she holding all the power or would be? I sort of see him fighting both his halves still, wanting to be good but wanting to be with her... though maybe he and Prue would have gotten together they always seeming to have that love/hate thing between them.
Of course then it would be questioned if the sisters COULD kill one of their own and what would then happen if the power of three was broken forever, skipping over Paige (she never coming into it) OR if Paige DID come into things with ALL the sisters still alive how that would then mean they where a power of four.
We DID get a look at A future in one episode and it makes me wonder how that might have progressed if IT had played out. Would Piper and Leo have gotten back together after they divorced (Wyatt and Chris no longer a thing, adopted, born from a new father like Chris once worried about with the firefighter Piper was dating, or one time get-togethers like it WAS for Chris)
I know there was talk about Wyatt and Chris having a spin-off it turning into "charmed kids' the power of 9 each charmed one having 3 kids... and what that would do to the underworld and their powers in general making them a bigger target or... would peace finally rain and the Utopia we saw come into a true reality.
One story I always played with was what if Wyatt and a daughter of the Source got together??? She being twice cursed like he was twice blessed. Which side would win out then? We all having seen evil Wyatt.
And if the Hollow was still a thing taking powers and holding it in ONE person how and would they face that challenge, how many generations would it take, would it ever end? The final battle coming to an end of the world, the four horsemen having a bigger role in things?
All in all I think it pends on a LOT of what Ifs... but it is fun to think about.
THEN THERES THIS QUESTION
What if there was no Prue AND Paige? Would the power of two do or is it just too few?
I see Piper and Phoebe (in this case) going to the magical community more often for help along with past family members and if the Source had his way (having turned Phoebe) Would the final battle then be the sisters against each other? Leaving only one? And if there was only one sister remaining how would THAT work?
Okay... now I'm seeing a whole new episode happening. Halloween all the past demons the sisters have this killed coming back for revenge, they still fighting the source (maybe even each other if above 'what if' comes into things) Final battle, all the things they've learned this far, the choice of good over evil (even in themselves) one explosive final battle.

I think it still would've gotten progressively worse even if they didn't kill Prue off, because Brad Kern was still in charge, but it would've been less terrible. I thought Paige being introduced basically nullified the power of three.

I thought Paige being introduced basically nullified the power of three. Maybe it ends after S4, when both Shannen and Holly's contracts are up, they both don't sign their next contract. They always talked about wanting to see the show through together, Holly I think mentioned that in some interview posted here a few years back. It is what they wanted to do, as they started it together, they'd end it together.

You're absolutely right, Katie. Had that happened, I'm sure we'd be watching "Charmed: The Next Generation" rather than "Charmed: The Rip-off". Beat of all - it would be WITHOUT BRAD KERN! I'm sure the star would be Piper and Leo's Melinda with no male Halliwells! YES!!! I'm quite sure that Shannen would not sign her second contract, even if she'd be allowed to continue to direct, so I'm sure IF there was an S5, it would be because Shannen convinces Holly to continue and that Holly gets her chance to be a producer and turn Piper who was based on one of Connie's sisters into Holly and we'd still have Poor, Poor Pitiful Piper, just a season later - and if Holly got it, Alyssa would and we'd have PhoeME. No, thanks. I'd much prefer them ending it after four with both Shannen and Holly refusing to sign their second contract. Who knows? Maybe they'd have BOTH Prue and Piper killed in the S4 finale (or they'd agree to give up their powers and move on) and you end up with a Phoebe/Cole spin-off. I'd much prefer that to Poor, Poor Pitiful Piper with her magical doctor/taxicab who she only "loves" when he becomes her own little errand boy and PhoeME and all her fantasy men that she only wants to give her a baby not love, and the Twice-Blessed Brat and his lying, whining, murdering brother and Billie and Christy.
