Didn’t WB turn into CW? Or is that the “it should have been created after that happened” option?

Personally I loved it when the reruns were on TNT and I'll always wish the show had always been on that.
But that's not a main network, so for the main ones, I'll choose FOX, but only if "7th Heaven" was also on it. If it wasn't, I never would've watched Charmed since like The WB and The CW, that and the first few seasons of "Smallville" were the only The WB or FOX shows that I've ever watched.
LATER: Changed my mind - since I'll always believe Buffy jumping to UPN is the reason why Cole became the Source and Phoebe the Queen, my least-favorite storyline because it ruined my favorite sister, if "Charmed" was already on UPN, maybe that would've never happened. So I voted UPN.

Didn’t WB turn into CW? Or is that the “it should have been created after that happened” option? Yup, it did, but that was after Charmed was cancelled, so it wouldn't affect this poll. Actually The WB and UPN joined to become The CW. I think CBS bought The WB and UPN, but I'm not sure. I just know that once Charmed came out on DVD, that was done by CBS Entertainment. I just don't think Charmed would fit any of the main networks - although that could've been a good thing - it might have only lasted 3 or 4 years.

CBS might work. They've done fantasy-themed stuff in the past: Moonlight, Joan of Arcadia, and Zoo.

IDK anything about how Networks work, but I did vote "Other", and I'm going to say HBO because the show could've gone darker, and we could've gotten some more gore and scary monsters. Maybe some curse words LOL My opinion is highly to change.

Pretty sure that back in the day they had that, Charmed, Buffy, Angel… FOX, I think, had “Tru Calling”, which might’ve made for decent crossover material with “Charmed”, so I’ll go with that. 🙂

You misread what I wrote. Yes, "7th Heaven" was on The WB. As I said, I wouldn't have ever watched Charmed if I hadn't seen a commercial for it while watching "7th Heaven". That's why I'd want it to be on UPN so I'd still watch Charmed.

CBS would be great, it was already a CBS production from the start, and Touched By an Angel and Ghost Whisperer did very well here.
But, since CBS skews older, they'd likely have had a main older main character to cater to the older audience, so their whitelighter may have just been someone older than Leo/Brian. It might not last long, but if Ghost Whisperer did fairly decent for five seasons, maybe that's as long as Charmed would go.
I personally think FOX would be the best choice, it already had lots of other Spelling shows on the network, and I can see it paired well with Party of Five on Wednesday nights, again another series starring siblings. The perfect line-up.
But then, UPN was a bit more progressive, and let creators have more creative freedom, something Buffy got more on UPN. So it might do well here.

Just for the heck of it, I looked at this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1998%E2%80%9399_United_States_network_television_scheduleHaving fun figuring out where it might air and what day in the fall of 1998, if it wasn't on the WB. Here's my picks: I think between the three, Charmed might have the most success on FOX, especially if they paired it with 902010 or Party of Five, and marketed it as Shannen returned to FOX. CBS, it would have a shorter run, as you said TMC between 3-5 seasons. But, perhaps if it was on CBS and matched with Touched By an Angel, it would have more of a TBAA vibe to the show, more innocents and episodes like in season 1. And since Secrets and Guys was my VERY first episode of Charmed, because I LOVED Touched by an Angel, if it were on CBS and paired with that show, I'd likely have watched it even earlier than I did when I first saw it on The WB mid-season 1. LATER: I don't know, looking at the shows on UPN, Charmed doesn't seem like it would be a show they'd have picked at the time of 1998. Looking at the shows they had, it really catered way more to the science fiction and comedy genre, than fantasy dramas. But, then they did grab Buffy, so maybe they MIGHT have taken a show like Charmed later on (I think because Buffy was already an on-going series for years, they'd have taken the risk with it.). But certainly not in 1998, when the network was still new. But, it might still have a shot, UPN was less like the WB with their demands, I think that's why Buffy moving to UPN was appealing to the Buffy writers, they gave them more creative control. I don't think I'd watch it if it was on UPN, I never watched any of their science fiction shows or comedies. So maybe this would be worse for me, and I'd never have watched it. Nope, changed my mind, and voting between Fox and CBS. I voted Fox, as I think it would do well, if matched with the shows I suggested. But, I feel like on CBS, it would have lasted only 3-5 seasons tops, if that. Maybe it would be a better show this way.

The first episode I saw was 'The Witch is Back' in December. Had it been on FOX I for sure would have watched it, especially paired with Party of Five, since I watched that show on Wednesday nights. But, Party of Five was not on the night Charmed was, so I caught it and loved it. So I think those two would pair well, with the sibling themes in both shows.
I never watched a single UPN show, but Buffy but that was only because it moved to UPN, so I don't know if I'd have ever checked out Charmed.
But since the question is what network would Charmed have done better on. I'd like to think a mix of Fox or CBS. UPN for the reasons you mentioned never catered to a show like Charmed at that point, until Buffy five years later.
I voted Fox, both because they'd attract the Melrose Place and 90210 fans who already saw Alyssa and Shannen on those shows. They already did well with other Spelling shows.
CBS is a good choice too, but I think it would only last no more than 4-5 seasons. Not a bad thing, it might have kept the feel of S1 throughout its run, as all the typical WB plot lines like love triangles, and wanting to be like Buffy wouldn't have ever happened. But to cater to the more adult audience, I will my bottom dollar Leo would be either female or an adult mentor/whitelighter probably similar to Tess from Touched By an Angel, mentoring and guiding her charges.
One positive being on CBS or FOX, is a bigger budget. Not just special effects, but they might money to actually film in San Francisco, or even branch out to other locations in America, like Salem for an episode. Something I'm sure is why Charmed being on the WB never could do.

I'd prefer a shorter series but with it more like 'Touched by an Angel." It's starting to make sense why S1-S2 are fairly praised around, here. Both of those seasons definitely felt like TBAA, a little bit. I think in S1E6 "The Wedding From Hell", they even joke about how Prue acts that way, but she quickly states that she's nothing like that. However, S1 definitely felt more like TBAA, a little bit. Same with S2, and I can see the appeal because I do like TBAA, as well.

Charmed really felt like it kept copying the latest trends and tried too hard to be Buffy, which I didn't like. I'd have liked Charmed to not try copying another shows themes/plots and replicating them. It annoyed me seeing so many things other shows already did similarly on Charmed. Why I prefer the earlier seasons over the later ones, it really felt like it's own thing.

Andrew , does Joan of Arcadia have any themes or similarities to Charmed, that would make it a good match paired together, on CBS if it aired there?

Andrew , does Joan of Arcadia have any themes or similarities to Charmed, that would make it a good match paired together, on CBS if it aired there? I mean, Charmed was paired with Gilmore Girls on the WB, so I’m not entirely sure that themes and similarities are entirely necessary. 😉 But I can say that the Girardi family really came across as actually seeming like family - sometimes screwed up, sometimes a mess, but you know underneath it all they really love each other… kinda like the Halliwells, in that respect. There weren’t monsters of the week, obviously, but Joan did end up getting pulled into situations where she’d have people who needed help, even if she had no real idea what she was doing… which would be somewhat similar to season one of Charmed, I suppose. Honestly, I just liked the show, and was sad when it was cancelled before it’s time. Like I said above, I probably would have gone with FOX, who also had shows like Tru Calling and Dark Angel, which would have vibed with Charmed more than, say, 7th Heaven or Touched By An Angel. 🙂 EDIT: There was also “Point Pleasant”, though since it was cancelled before they even aired all 13 episodes, I doubt many people remember that one. It ended on a cliffhanger, so tying it into Charmed would have at least given it some kind of resolution.

I think FOX since Spelling had most of his shows on this Network and FOX has lots of similar genre shows like Charmed on there. However, hearing everyone's views on CBS, It might fit nicely on that network and I'd imagine be much closer to the tone in S1. But it might've not lasted more than 4 or 5 seasons.
So in the end I didn't vote since I think FOX or CBS are good choices. LOL
