If properly planned out, how many Seasons should there have been?
This is regardless of how the series played out.
E.g. dont think if you say 3 seasons - you mean the show should have ended at 3x22.
This is about how long you think the show should have gone for, regardless of the quality that played out and/or Prue leaving, Paige coming in.
Think of the show at mid Season 1 or at the end of Season 1 once it had its introduction, and think how long there after should the show have had successive 22-23 episode seasons for?

For me, 4 seasons with the sisters agreeing to give up their powers after the Angel Of Destiny's offer with the book passed down to the next generation if they were witches whenever that happened otherwise not if they weren't.
Because the Source is no longer a threat been dead there'd be other witches who could save innocents in the Charmed One's place if they chose to then.
That way all the sisters would be likeable still and not so from season 5-8 obviously.

I would have liked the show ending at Season 4 but in the same way Witch Way Now? ended with the three accepting their powers and not giving them up OR Paige still having her her powers. And looking at the planning - I would have said 4 seasons would have been a good amount of seasons too. With Season 1 focused on Prue, Season 2 focused on Piper, Season 3 focused on Phoebe and Season 4 focused on all 3 OR Paige.

We know that originally Connie planned for four seasons - which is how long Shannen, Holly and Alyssa's original contracts were for. We just don't know how much she planned and how different it went, especially when Ted (Andy) left while Brian (Leo) stayed on.
But I'd stick with that - especially if the sisters gave up their powers at the end, just like Melinda Warren predicted, that her line would CULMINATE (end) with the Charmed Ones, meaning none of their kids would have powers, no matter who their dad was. That would be perfect for me.

Four seasons. The sisters giving up their powers in the end, and Piper finds out she's pregnant. The end!

S7 but not in the way you think. I'm thinking of like S7E13 Charmageddon being the ultimate ending. Where the Charmed Ones just accept their lives, as they are and being grateful to have free will, in the first place.

I'm surprised someone said 10 seasons. Even if it was planned well, I don't know if the show has enough content to last that long.
For me, if it was planned well. If any sister got married, it wouldn't be as early as S3. I always felt Piper and Leo married way too soon. If I had it my way it would be much later. If the show lasted just four seasons, it would be the last episode.
But the more, I think about it. The more I can see it being properly planned out to be a five season series, or even a four and a half, with the show ending after a half fifth season and 100 episodes. The idea of it ending nicely with 100 episodes is kinda cool.

I like shows that are between 3 and 5 seasons long, especially with a 22-episode season each season. That's just the right length. If you look at the likes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural, they were planned up to the fifth seasons pretty well. The networks just then wanted them to continue, and it wasn't a case of shows saying no back then. Now I love that the shows' creators get more of a say.
5 seasons is good to get to that milestone of 100 episodes. With a 22-episode season, it would have been the midway point of Season 5 so that could have been a huge moment, as the sisters realize that they are close to the end of whether their journey as witches or even having to make the ultimate sacrifice. I could imagine something like the Angel of Death showing up, a little like he did for Prue, and the last half of the season is wrapping up storylines and leaving us wondering if anyone is going to die at the very end. I wouldn't have any of the sisters die, though. They manage to take out the Source, bringing an end to dark magic so they can give up their powers if they want. But not all the sisters have to give them up. They all get an individual choice.
I would end with 100 episodes if the networks would allow either the first or the fifth season to be just half the size.

After watching a few mini series on Netflix, I've come to see that format as my favorite where any type of story is involved. I find myself wishing movies would be longer and have multiple parts, and wanting TV shows like Charmed with its 22 episodes per season to cut out filler and be shorter.
When I rewatched both parts of Charmed Again, that seemed like the perfect length for an episode with plenty of time to tell a long story. I'd love if the show were reorganized and two or three episodes combined together, along with cutting out filler stories and maybe adding in a few other stories here and there, and for there to be maybe eight episodes per season that were each an hour and a half long. This would still be a similar amount of overall content to what we got, but I'm counting on it being a bit better organized and thought out.
And if I could organize the story, I could probably have it last five or six seasons if I wanted to make it appealing to the most people. However, if I could do it with just my own personal preferences in mind, even though I know it wouldn't appeal to a lot of other people, I could probably stretch it out to make eight seasons, potentially more.

Totally agree. So many episodes would be great if they had more time. I always wished the first episode was two parts or even 90 minutes long, same with That 70s Episode, Morality Bites and P3 H20. And adding in a few other stories here and there, mainly a bigger dive into the ancestors. I'd prefer more flashbacks with Patty and or Grams than their ghosts poping up all the time.
I know some streaming shows have 16 episode seasons and divided it up into two parts, even if they were two separate arcs/storylines to make up one season. I'd pick that, and then you could reorganize the seasons, to trim the fat, and cut out six episodes of filler.
Elle Em, I'd love to see how you would structure and reorganize it.

If they could've skipped the first half of S5 (no Stalker Cole and no Twice-Blessed Brat) and gone directly to the last half of S7 (not counting the whole avatar crap), it would've made a perfect 4 1/2-season 100-episode series. Well, not totally perfect - I'd prefer finding a way of not using Cole-the-Source/Phoebe-Queen-of-the-Underworld) since it's my least-favorite storyline - but awful darn close!

Elle Em, I'd love to see how you would structure and reorganize it.
There are definitely a lot of episodes like the ones you mentioned that deserve more time. It could even be that about a third of the episodes were movie-length pieces of the story, and other shorter episodes in between that were enjoyable but weren't super important to the main idea of the show. I really like the flashback idea. This could have given Patty and Grams their time to shine and the fans could know them better without having their ghosts constantly around as if they never died. Their characters could be featured in flashbacks without the sisters interacting with them to keep death a more serious thing. As far as a general idea of how I'd reorganize the show, I could make each season be about eight to 10 episodes long with each episode being about twice as long as it currently is. I'd put a lot more emphasis on more subtle forms of magic so that more work has to be put into saving innocents and vanquishing warlocks and demons. And if anyone has read any of my posts before, they probably know I don't like the idea of whitelighters and elders, so those things wouldn't exist here. I'd make everything go a lot slower than we saw in the show. It would take several episodes for the sisters to figure out exactly what is going on with them now that they're magical. I'd give a lot more time for it to become a part of their lives and really focus on how the different parts of their lives are affected. I'd also build up a lot about their lives that are separate from magic as well to fully flesh them out as people, focusing on things like their jobs and friends and hobbies. I'd make witches, warlocks, and demons the only magical creatures, with warlocks being the most common thing they go up against and demons being monster-like and not at all human. I'd want them to eventually make friends with other witches and work with them. I'd also include flashbacks of them as younger people, and flashbacks of their ancestors as well. I'd add in other characters sparingly and slowly too. I like Andy, but I don't think he should be around until at least season 2. And I'd like for there to be a lot more time where they were all single, or where the focus wasn't so much on who they were dating, since that tended to take over the show. And if one or more of them decided to have kids at some point, we could do a time jump forward a few years so that a baby doesn't pull focus away from the show and hinder the story too much. After getting things established in the first few episodes, every long episode after that could be a combination of several stories we saw in the show, just a lot more drawn out. And maybe in between each of those long episodes, there could be shorter ones like we currently have, but they'd exist as extra episodes that didn't make a difference to the overall story and would just be there for fun.

If written properly, easily 13 seasons, I would love a female supernatural series to have 13 seasons, which is something I was wishing Witches Of East End being.
I could imagine a show full of beautiful ancestry accompanied by witchcraft about three sisters who come back together due to their destiny in which they protect the innocent from the demonic underground of their hometown, on their path, they learn about their family's secrets, fall in and out of love, make life long friendships and become the women they were always destined to be.
Some will become mothers and continue the bloodline and traditions they were taught and some will just continue to love their life just the way it is and would help their sisters with moulding the future generations.
