Both I can see from fans have similar dislikes
Season 2 - with the Dan-Piper-Leo triangle and Prue's fast career transition and progression from auction house to successful photographer
Season 4 - with the way Prue's death was handled and the rushed serial nature of the Source/Cole/Queen of the Underworld storyline

S2 since I like the familiarity of the sisterhood, all 3 sisters are in their prime characterization, it's a fairly even season.
S4 was good but is very rushed in the middle/end.

Too easy. Especially after our board rewatches. S4 doesn't hold a candle to S2. I still have some episodes in S4 I like. I just like all three sisters more in S2 than S4 overall.
Take the love triangle out and S2 is very good.

I agree with others here I prefer season 2 over 4 just for the general overall aesthetic of the show which still had Connie Burge have some say in the running of Charmed. The innocent of the week episodes were better than the Source storyline, the sisters were portrayed personality-wise more favorably and they cared more about saving people than constantly moaning about wanting normal lives obviously.
The love triangle years later doesn't do it for me either actually and had that never happened the season would've been perfect like 1 then.

This is tough. Season 2 is a lot more comfortable to watch. Their lives were a lot easier then and there were lower stakes overall. However, season 4 is more exciting.
I really liked both Phoebe and Prue in season 2. I felt like each one was at her best for the most episodes in this season. But in season 4, I really liked both Piper and Paige.
And each season has a large storyline that I don't like or would make a lot of changes to: season 2 has the love triangle and season 4 has Phoebe and Cole being evil for a good part of the second half.
I really can't make a decision between the two. I guess it depends on what my mood is at the time of watching either of them.
It might be fun to compare seasons 1 and 4, since they were both "firsts" in a sense with season 1 being the first for the original group of three and season 4 being the first for Paige.

After having re-watched S4, and not enjoying the second half of S4. The best part was the middle between Brain Drain and Lost and Bound.
S2 hands down. Without the Piper/Leo/Dan love triangle, its a great season.

The love triangle doesn't bother me as much as the Queen of the Underworld storyline, so definitely season 2.

It's a fun season with lots of strong standalone episodes. It's the easiest season to jump into at any point.

I mean, they had great villains of the week in S2 already. This hardly bothered me too much. Like you, I hardly noticed.

Oh good, there was already a thread for this. I was gonna make one considering other threads regarding this topic (because of the Rank S1-S4 thread). I feel like a re-visit is in order. As of right now, S4, though it used to be S2. IK many will say "S2" because of Prue, and S2 being a "preferred" Prue season, over S3, but I digress. Anyway, I'm choosing S4 because of current stat checks, I'm looking at: - PO3 acknowledgement (A LOT of S2, any 'ol Witch can do & NOT Charmed Ones specific, S4 acknowledges the PO3 WAY more than S2) - ALL THREE sisters doing something, in the final fight/vanquish (since S4 does more spell vanquishes, not necessarily PO3 spells than S2, is your answer) - Proper Eating & Drinking and NOT just fiddling! (S4 wins by a LANDSLIDE, S2 forgot to incorporate this part of the show) And, my own bias opinion, even without the stats, I always preferred S4 > S2. S4 was always more tolerable, for me than S2. The stats do help cement my position, however xP

Easy decision for me. S4 over S2. Paige is my girl. 😆
But seriously S4 has more going for it over S2 in terms of storylines. S2 has no major arc but the love triangle.

I (also) like how S4 gave us some more magical witches Stan Provazolli from S4E11 "Trial by Magic" & Tyler from S4E12 "Lost & Bound". I'll even consider Anling & the Zen Master from S4E4 "Enter the Demon" as "magical", as well despite being a different culture of magic.
S2 gave us NONE. Just more practicing witches with no real magical powers. Even S1 had more magical witches than S2 via the woman who died in the beginning of the episode of S1E1 "Something Wicca This Way Comes" & Max in S1E14 "Secrets & Guys". S2 just couldn't be bothered.

I find it fascinating that S3 is winning in the S2 vs S3 thread, but S4 is losing in this S2 vs S4 thread LOL Though, I really shouldn't be all that surprised because S3 does win in the S3 vs S4 thread, as well.

This is a tough call. Both seasons had some amazing episodes but if I had to choose, I would choose s2. It set up a lot of things for future seasons such as Piper becoming the leader of the Charmed Ones. Be Careful What You Witch For set that up nicely with Prue being turned into a teenager and all.
